  1. Some other things, find out how old the roof is? If you can, go up and walk around looking for weak spots or missing shingles. If there is a garage, make sure it operates correctly. Talk to the neighbours about the community if you can. Moving in beside someone who you feel you won't get along with can be a pain in the butt. Especially if they do not like fishermen or hunters. (boats, atv's) Ask about water pressure, flooding, other services. Good luck.
  2. When checking out the house, do your own inspection as well. Check the fuse/breaker box, see if it is labled properly. Check the wiring, copper, aluminum. take a a wall plug tester. Check the furnace, age, rental, owned? Check the water heater, see if there is a service sticker on it. Go up and check the attic yourself, see how much insulation. See if the bathroom has a vent and where does it vent to. Check all basement walls, look for stains. Check all windows and doors for insulation and seal. These are things you can do and don't take much time. And i am sure others can tell you more. I have no experience with septic or such. But my brother in law sure has spent a bundle on his. Good luck.
  3. Do you have any relatives that live out in the country that he could move to? On paper anyways.
  4. Well I am curious as to what happens this weekend. I have been watching the posts on another site. This should be interesting. Good fishing everyone, looks like decent weather on the way.
  5. The trucks parked on the side of the road pointing uphill got tagged as well. Only those few who fit into the ramp parking lot did not.
  6. Well I just called the Town's recreation dept and it appears the lot does belong to the Tip of the Bay marina. Even though it is not posted. I recommended that he look into this. I am still on the fence about paying this as I was only there 6 hours and they are billing for 2 days. Regards
  7. So, was at Picton on Sat. No envelopes for paying, nor an attendant. So launched the boat along with everyone else and parked in the lot across the street. Was out for 6 hours. Skunked by the way. Marking lots out in front of the cement plant but no takers. So get back and pulled out the boat, get ready to go and notice a white piece of paper under my wiper. A 2 day $20.00 bill for parking. By the Picton Bay Marina !! Thier notice says "Fair is Fair" I called and the lady says " we don't know how long you were there so that's the way it is " How many others got this? Is this something new? I will be calling Picton city hall Monday to see what this is about. I was and am willing to pay the launch fee as stated at the ramp. But if they do not have the materials or the staff why do they think they can just bill everyone $20.00 ? I will post a follow up later. Regards
  8. Try a big minnow on a bobber hooked through the tail on one line and a worm on a floating jig on the bottom on the other. Or go and try of the bridge with hair jigs. Cast as far as you can and work it back. Put on a fair bit of weight. Watch the locals. Good luck.
  9. Try going dead slow with a single blade inline spinner with a worm for Walleye. 6 to 11 ft of water. For bass use large tubes on the weededge. And large frog baits in shallow in the afternoon. With the temps dropping fish deep in the morning and high in the afternoon for bass. Also try the bridge in Hastings at night or the tails of any locks. Worms or minnows on a plain hook with a slip sinker. Good luck
  10. Check out these 2 sites. I have been researching myself for a trip down there. http://www.cyberangler.com/fishing-reports/florida/ http://www.islamoradasportfishing.com/florida_keys_fishing_reports.htm and take a trip down to Key West for some evening fun. Regards
  11. For another 1/2 hour to hour, north-northeast of where you are there is Jack Lake by Apsly, Paudash Lake by Bancroft, Chandos Lake, Wollaston Lake. Try to find a lake in a zone that allows ice fishing so you can get year round use out if it. Or east of Peterborough is Oak Lake, Belmont Lake, or Cordova Lake. All of these lakes have great fishing and lots to do in the areas. Good luck.
  12. There are three train bridges in the area. Try fishing the current breaks around these as well. Good luck.
  13. Matt, I have an older motor and have run into this myself. It is oil from your fuel running out the exhaust port. I have found that if I have had my engine tilted for a while it is difficult to start. So two things. One, make sure your battery is fully charged, so when it fires you get enough of a spark to ignite the fuel and oil in each cylinder. 2- if you can, put your motor down for a while before you plan to go out. Also just before you leave the water to go home take your boat for a good run to heat up your engine and burn off any excess oil in each cylinder. And as well buy the best oil you can. At trolling speed you may not be burning off all of the oil that gets mixed into you gas. Hope this helps. Regards
  14. Good day. I bought a new Ram last year. Took it to Krown Rust for a linex spray. While there found out they sold the hard covers. For a lot less then I paid at an accessory shop. So if you have one close by go and talk to them.
  15. This is who we stayed with, at thier north camp. http://www.duenorth.net/temagamiriverside. When we were there there were a lot of blueberries. So yes some bears around. And as I mentioned at night where the Temagami river came into the lake is where we caught fish. Good luck.
  16. fishinfool, are you staying at the North camp or the South camp? When I stayed at the north camp we fished at night right out front with minnows. Seemed to be the best. Also from the North camp if you keep to the right you will come to a small dam. In front of that worked. Also down below. Just make noise when walking and keep your eyes and ears open. Regards
  17. We have a trailer on the BOQ and troll all the time. A 7ft with a soft tip and stong backbone. The soft tip to tell you if you have picked up weeds or a silver bass, and a stong backbone for when you get the fish to the boat. I am not one to buy any particular brand as long as it feels good to me, then I will buy it. Regards
  18. Good day folks. I currently have a 15.5 ft alum boat with a manual bilge. I am thinking of putting an auto in so I can leave the boat in the water for days, rain or shine. The instructions say to put a three way switch in place so you can choose manual or auto. So I ask. Is a switch necessary or can it just be left on auto? I don't know if this would put a constant drain on the battery. Any information would be appreciated. Regards
  19. If you come up after bass and muskie open you should be able to have fun every day. And you should be able to eat fresh fish every day as well. Weedline would be the ticket. Dropping into the holes or trolling with floating harnesses. Good luck
  20. My wife and I will be there for three days this weekend. With my new Navionics/GPS/Fishfinder. I sure hope the weather holds. Good luck all.
  21. Good job, did mine as well last weekend. Still sore Plus shop maintenance last month. It is nice to know you can go out and not have much to worry about. Good luck this weekend.
