  1. Good morning. Has anyone been there this year ? Myself and some buds are going in 3 weeks and I am looking for any tips or lake info as this will be our first time. We will be staying at boat in cabin #2. The Brook. So any info would be appreciated. Regards
  2. Try trolling with floating worm harnesses. Put a slip sinker about 5 ft up. Go slow, like 1 mph. Either along the weeds or right over top. Use green or purple single blade units. Such as Bob Izumi from Crappy Tire. Good luck.
  3. Try out front of the cement plant. In the summer there is a large weed bed there. It may have started by now. Also out at the point on the north shore. Erie Dearies, worm harnesses and tail dancers. Good luck.
  4. The Lodge is a great place. Ask for a cottage on the river. You can night fish from your front porch. Get a map from the owner for Five Fingers. In the evening go up the river as far as you can go, drop an anchor and fish with minnows. Casting off the docks you will never know what you will hook into. They also have a great buffet night. Beware the bugs though. Buy a bug jacket. Have fun.
  5. Well we were using erie dearies in deep water, trolling at 1.8 mph. At one point I counted 41 boats around the marker. We never went close, I preferred to stay away from the crowd as we were trolling with about 125 yards of line out. About a third of our spools. Regards
  6. Well made it up to the trailer. Except for one storm that went through Sat afternoon it was perfect on Big Bay. At our camp the winner was 7.2 lb. Just a bit bigger then mine at 6.8. Lots of fish caught. The three of us had our limit by 8 pm Sat. We were lucky as I was able to launch my boat at the camp. I hear Deseronto was one busy place. Three more weeks until I can get back up there for a 5 day strech. Tightlines all.
  7. Acouple of buddies and myself will be in Shannonville. May have to put in at Deseronto though. Looks like the temp is going up for the weeknd to. Good luck evryone.
  8. I have stayed at the north end for a week not to long ago. Out in the middle of the bay there is a hump. You will have to look for it a while. I found the walleye stacked up there. Along the north shoreline is good for smallies. Down at the south end is good pike water. Also where the river comes in along the weeds is a good pike area. Do not leave the channel though. Good luck.
  9. Good morning. With the opener only a short time away I am wondering if anyone can report on the levels. I hope to put in at our camp by Shannonville but I think I will have to head to Deseronto. Is the first ramp by the bridge good to go? I have never put in there and I imagine Deseronto is going to be one busy place. Any info would be appreciated. Regards
  10. Save up about a gallon of urine and pour it throught the cracks of the dock. mark your territory. May work may not. works on raccons. Good luck.
  11. You may have tried this but get thier main number in Rexdale. Ask for an e-mail address and send pictures. I also like the Visa idea. Good luck.
  12. Thank you for all the replies. I am hoping for the second weekend as well. Bob and Chrispy, thank you for the offers, I will be in touch for sure. My problem is no electric. But I do have a 6 hp kicker on the back. I may be able to use it to slow down my drift. I will be stopping at wallys as well. Lakeview Park in Windsor at the N end of the river and Gil Maure Park in Lasalle. These two I will have to look up. I was thinking of using the ramp at McKee park. again thank you. This is what makes this board work. Regards
  13. Good afternoon. A friend and I are considering a day trip to Windsor to try for some early season eyes. Has anyone out there done this and are willing to pass on any tips? Jig weight, style, drifting and such. I will be launching right be the bridge in downtown Windsor after I stop at Wally's Bait and Tackle. Any tips would be appreciated. Regards
  14. Check these out. We stayed at this one. Reasonable price. http://www.cottagesunlimited.com/cottpages/cott181b.htm http://www.findcottage.ca/cordovalakecottage.html This is just east of Peterborough and offers excellent fishing. Walleye right off the dock. Good luck.
  15. Well the Brook cottage is up the river a ways, So we would be doing most of our fishing up there. We are going the second week of July. Any one know how the bugs are that time of year ? Any pictures would be appreciated.
  16. Good day folks. Well six of us are planning to rent the Brook for a week in July. I see that other people have spent time on Ivanhoe. Can any of you pass on any tips for our stay there? Not just fishing but anything else we could or should be aware of. It would be appreciated. Regards.
  17. Many years ago I did a weeks worth of fishing down there. There is a large peir to fish from right in P.C.. We bought shrimp at the grocery store and caught many different types of fish from the peir. Buy a saltwater license. There is a bait store on the south end of town, forget the name. We also cast rapplin redfins in the evening for snooks. Find anywhere there are docks that you can access and fish from there. Also look for lead core casting bobbers. They work like poppers. They allow you to do long casts. I can't remember the name but north of P.C. there is one of those huge fishing piers. You pay to get on it and you can catch just abouth anything. Or fish the harbour. They don't allow you to cast off the beaches. Good luck.
  18. I do remember back in the "old days". I had heard that there were salmon being caught at Bronte. So being only 14 (1974), my friend and I talked his mother into driving us. We went to Petro park and were amazed at all the vehicles. From Ont. the States and Quebec. Guys were staying in campers and vans. It was teaming rain and the creek was a river. The water was just below the top of the bank, so about 5 -6 ft deep right across. All we were doing was dropping in right against the shore and letting it drift down. I was using worms. Well on drift number two don't I hook into one. It dragged out, then came back, and then turned down. But by then a guy just down had a long handled net and the fish ran right into it. Caught my very first salmon. Later on lost another. So the appointed time came to go to the parking lot and my friends mom was there. She took one look at the fish and said "That's not going in my car" A gent in the lot had a big green garbage bag so we bagged it and put it in the trunk. We had salmon steaks for days. The water level back then was amazing. No wading then. Now it is barley a trickle. Sad to see what goes on. Ah the good old days.
  19. At Dunnville try casting jigs with mister twisters off the rocks at each end of the dam. But there are lots of snags. At Maitland try minnows under a slip bobber. You can buy them at Fishmasters. Great big minnows if you can. Hook them in the tail so they can swim around. When you bobber goes under count to a slow 5 before setting the hook. Trying different depths. You can even try these off the shore at Bing. Good luck.
  20. Check out a map of the Grand River from Fergus to Lake Erie. Lots of good spots that you can try. Good luck
  21. Now this would be neat out on the Bay of Quinte.
  22. ...just don't talk fishing in her presence or ignore her... Sorry Maureen, I cannot agree with you on your first part. Do not change your ways to accomodate her. If the lady starts harping again politely say "I was not speaking to you, please mind your own business". and then continue on with what you were doing. But all in all, good luck with this
