  1. I used to tree plant up there for years. Sadly, Ontarios best kept secret (Miko's chip stand) was sold to new owners and the recipes for amazing hamburgers were lost (best I ever had). John's pizzeria is amazing. I recommend stopping in there for a meal or two. Sadly I don't know about ice conditions, but if the ice is safe, check out Fushimi for Walleye and Pike. Also, if you feel comfortable driving 2 hours west, Long Lac had some of the best Walleye fishing I had ever seen a few summers ago. Can't see why it would be any different over the winter. If the river freezes over there is a nice dropoff from 6 FOW to 16 FOW that the walleye just love. Should be easy pickins. Have fun. I miss that town.
  2. Didn't see anything good for cyber Monday yesterday. My favourite obstacle course company hand "20% Off any and all races". Which was nice. But when I went to sign up for a season pass (All races in Eastern Canada for once price) they wouldn't take the 20% off deal. What a joke. "20% Off any and all races. Except if you want all the races at once." I think they could afford the $50 discount.
  3. Nice haul. Great to see someone getting out and icing a few good ones.
  4. That looks like the best way to hold a fish if you want to live release it. I'm sure that (what is it?) is most comfortable with it's neck bent at a 90 degree angle.
  5. I was using a Medium ugly stick last year which worked ok but I was losing a lot of fish I hooked into. This year I upgraded to a 32" medium heavy ugly stick. Should help Then again, last year Chris K was landing all his lakers with what looked like a wet noodle so I dunno.....
  6. Never used a graph but my Marcum Lx-5 was the greatest purchase I ever made. Last season I remember fishing with a buddy for walleye and I out fished him 10-1 because I could see them coming off the bottom and what they were reacting too. Same with lake trout. I love watching them peel up 50 feet of water to chase after your bait. Even on skunk days, seeing the fish swim by or come up and check out my bait is always exciting.
  7. A few spots I'm curious about North of the Muskokas. I've always wanted to ice fish Quinte but it just seems too big without a sled. I have a few lakes I got skunked on last year that I'm determined to figure out. Anywhere where they Lake Trout are biting.
  8. Chad, 3" were the thick spots. Hahaha. I'm good to go as soon as it locks up there. I'll be out of work in 2-3 weeks anyways. I've got one spot I want to scout for lakers and another that Chris showed me that is dynamite for guys under 5 pounds. If you don't mind traveling down the 11 for an hour or two I'd be happy to share it.
  9. Oh man, now this really has me antsy for the hardwater season. Some great catches there for sure. Great way to start off the year.
  10. This is why my first outing is usually with Chad and or Joey. When I forget all of my gear I can just borrow some of their stuff. I figure next weekend will be the time to pull everything out and test the gear. I've already started doing research on fish online to determine which lakes I want to hit this winter.
  11. Holy cow. I drove by the Credit River tonight and there was a skim of ice on it. Whats going on?
  12. Looks very promising. I'm counting down the days.
  13. Never was fishing in Wheatley when I was there but, if it still exsists, go to the 'car barn' for the best off the boat perch and walleye you will ever eat. I went fishing once or twice at the pinery this time of year. Bring a small boat with a trolling motor to cover as much of the river as possible and you'll have a blast.
  14. I am CHOMPING at the bit to get out. If I had the money, I would do up a whole new Lake Trout combo with a heavy 32" ugly stick, Pfluger president reel, 10 pound braid with an 8 pound fluro leader. Alas I don't have that kinda money so it'll probably just be the line I add to my old combo. Debating selling my flip over for a pop up but that's small potatoes. Also debating modifying a live target bait ball to be a jigging lure under the ice. If it works I'll post pics. Mostly just countin the days and waiting for Chad or Joey to mention that the ice is thick up there so I can start scouting.
  15. Yeah. He has to pay $2 more to renew his fishing licence as his fine.
  16. I know it's a ways away but anyone know if bass pro accepts ice rods for the rod trade in that happens in spring?

  17. I don't even think they have to raise the price of anything to hire more CO's. I truly belive that CO's can and should pay for themselves. I was fishing on Simcoe last February and a CO came up and asked us what we were catching and our licences. After providing the documentation he started more filtered try again please chatting with us and he mentioned that he caught 40 without even using a rod and reel (he was infering that he handed out 40 tickets). If you put a monthly quota on CO's like they supposedly have with traffic cops, you would have no problem having them cover their own salary plus additional revenue.
  18. Getting a bit here in Woodbridge, problem is its been falling all day. Yuck is the driving ever bad.
  19. Overnight temps below 0 in Toronto and Rouge marsh had ice on Friday. I really hope this means ice fishing before Christmas.

  20. Geez Joey, that's a monster. Nice one.
  21. Need a favour guys, October 9th I'm planning on taking some 'me' time for my 30th birthday and going fishing in my kayak. Can anyone reccomend a small walleye lake within 4 hours of Toronto? Something my kayak won't get swamped in.

I hear Chandos is really good numbers of Walleye, you can get them in Lower Buckhorn but takes a bit of effort.

PM me if you want to drive as far as Haliburton: a couple of great choices up here.

  22. 100% of the time. Ever since I got dumped in the water by that idiot in Edmonton and was thankful I was wearing it then I make sure I have it when I go out. Swimming with clothes on was hard enough as is.
  23. If you ask my girlfriend 'The bridge' is Bass powerup. She landed a dozen (most 2 pounds ish) in a couple of hours her first night there.
