Yeah, big difference in rollers and choppy. Add chop to the rollers and ya gotta slow down and ride them out. S.

Yup flat muddy bottoms. Set your line about halfway down. They are sneaky. Worms and minnows is all i have ever caught them on. Never get them jigging always a set line on a willow branch. Hook and minnow usually. S.

A question about measuring wave height.

What I know is most guys call 2 footers 6 footers. LOL S. -
Beats sitting on the couch! Stuff happens out there. As long as your prepared for it there is nothing to worry about. The people who think we are nuts just dont understand the basic physics of ice. It moves, it expands, and it FLOATS. A bit of common sense goes a long ways. S.

Id get an 18 alaskan or a starcraft freedom. I need dual purpose to fish and duck hunt though, so the pro guide and the likes i would destroy in the marsh. S. -
Wind was howling. Major ice movement out there today. We started out 11km from port bolster and had to come back in. We we drifting!! Crossed one crack coming back that was open 10 or more feet that wasnt there on the way out. Pretty crazy day out there. Ended up on my perch waypoint and between 5 guys we got 10 keepers. Same story from everyone we talked to our there too. Oh well....it was an adventure at the very least!

Today sucked. Had to work hard for fish and it was so windy it made moving around brutal. Tough day but we still had fun. S.

Welcome to ofc......take Shawn up on this offer. I know the lake well but this guy knows it like the back of his hand. Watch out for the locals they are kinda crazy haha S.

Call hastings marine and work out a deal on a boat with them. A buddy of mine got a brand new 16ft Lund fury with 40 yammy, bowmount, and graph for right around 15 grand. Way better set up than your looking at. S.

I found BC just as busy as ON, so don't look forward to that. The traffic sucks and the bridges are crazy. Otherwise it is beautiful country. My brother moved out there about ten years ago, then moved back here for two years, and last summer I drove him and all his belongings back to Vancouver to stay again. He loves it there. Its not really my style, but I can see how he would like it. Good luck out there. S.

The 60 million dollar question. (Fishing related)

I would buy some property and build myself a little log cabin in the middle of nowhere and live off the land for a while. Back to my roots. S. -
I think the fines listed are an absolute maximum. I don't think 25G or a year in jail would ever happen unless you were going around shooting sows on purpose, at night, from your truck window. It is very hard to mistake a sow with cubs when your bear hunting. The technology we have these days is crazy. Set up a bait, put a couple trail cams on it, and you will know what is coming before you even hunt. If there is a sow with cubs, move on. Its pretty simple really. It would be very hard to kill a sow accidentally. Most hunters are pretty ethical people and only want to do whats right. The whole argument about killing sows with cubs is really the only leg the antis have to stand on, so that's the fight they fight. S.

Check out starcraft boats too. I'm also in the max power fan club. My boat wouldn't be the same without the max power. Responsive and great handling all comes with max power. Better control is never a bad thing. That said, if you look at a lot of the fishing boats on the east coast you will find they are underpowered. My dad has a 22ft fiberglass boat with a 70 yammy. It is a dog to get on plane, but she rides the big north atlantic swells like a bird. Load it up with a load of fish or whatever and she handles them even better. My grandfather spent his life fishing on the north atlantic and the first thing he told me about running a boat is float like a bird. He fished for many, many years out of a 30 foot wooden trap skiff with a 6 hp diesel make and break engine, and he was not one to back down from big weather. You can ride out some big water going slow. Big water doesn't always mean big power, but I still prefer max power.....better to have it than not. S.

I won't be throwing my long track venture around that's for sure. Its pretty good in deep snow, but its no bravo. S.
-
You are the first and only person I have ever heard say that about a bravo. I have taken a LT bravo to some crazy places where other sleds wouldn't stand a chance. If they had one with a 440 in it it would be the cats meow. S.

Yeah, I don't count on getting anything until at least mid march this year around here. 120 litres from 6 trees is a lot of sap. I hope you get it, but I have my doubts it will happen. I boil over propane in an 80l flat pan. Takes me about 6 hours. I like to start a batch and finish it all in one shot. I find when I add more sap to a batch the quality goes down for some reason. The first run of sap makes the best syrup! Love this time of year! S.
