the alaskans have always been known to sit low in the water at the transom. Throw your two deep cycles in the bow, and it will help some. Load that baby up with 10 dozen handcarved diver blocks, and you'll be good to go S.

Did you find anyone to take ya out yet? I would offer, but can't do weekends at all, and you would have to come out this way. If you ever want to catch a few eyes, and can get out on weekdays, get in touch. S.

I have a pair of them as well. Both clickers were done within a season. They don't hold up well at all. I still use them here and there, but no clickers. The drags aren't too bad, you just gotta keep a thumb on the spool when setting up. The Okuma reels are fairly cheap, and mine have lasted a few seasons now with no issues whatsoever. S.

Took tomorrow off - Walleye Fishing - which lake you recommend?
Sinker replied to mirogak's topic in General Discussion
Best action for me has been mid day on rice as well. As long as there is a bit of a chop, they will bite all day long in there. Choose your weapon, and find a weed edge, and you'll find some fish in there. S. -

Do you use a transom saver/outboard motor support?
Sinker replied to hooked!'s topic in General Discussion
I don't have one on my 40 tiller, and I trailer with the motor tilted up all the way. I have been doing this since '95, when i got the boat. My transom is just fine....as is my engine. S. -
24volt Bow Mount Trolling motor on 18' Alaskan

If your trolling batteries are going in the front, what do you need the conduit for? You will only need a few feet of cable to get to the batteries, no? S. -
Atta boy Simon!! That deserves a day of fishing for sure!!

I've had a cottage there for over 20 yrs. Grace lake is better for trout in my experience. There are also many rainbow lakes in the area, that I find more productive, and amazing table fare! I don't do a lot of trolling in the summer for lakers, but in the spring we do well on #9-11 Tail dancers. Even in the summer, the trout aren't all that deep. 30ft is usually a good starting point. Leadcore works well too. The times I have tried them with the riggers, we got them on #60 sized williams wobblers in blue/silver, and gold/chartreuse, down 30 and 40ft. Stick to the north end of GRace and you will pop a few trout. They are mostly right in the slot size, but still fun to catch. If you need any more specific info, pm me. S.

I hear ya vince. I have a buddy going thru it as well. Never smoked in his life either. He's pulled thru now, but it was a tough go! Keep your chin up. Positive thoughts go a long way in recovery. Take the time to visit as well. The visits from friends are what kept my buddy going! It really helps! S.

Weren't you the one complaining about getting canned from SAIL not too long ago?? I"m not sure how a job at sail pays for a rig like that, but I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong!! Nice boat, if your into that kind of thing! S.
-
Congrats on the new ride, RG! Thats a killer rig! I love it!! IMO, its the perfect "do all" boat for guys who fish and hunt out of thier boats! S.

You only need 3 lures. A green/black shoal digger with 2" tube A #60 williams whitefish ice jig in half/half hammered with side hooks on A #7-9 jigging rap in firetiger If you can't catch a whitie on that, your not going to catch them on anything. Don't jig like a madman. Take it easy, and make your lures dance. They will eat it. You don't have to snag them like the rest of the yahoos. Keep an eye on your electronics, and make them chase your lure until they smash it! S.

I fish a lot of the same waters as Cliff does, so I see it as well. Most of it is total ignorance to others, and the regulations. I've never had a "roundeye" pull up within feet of my boat, and cast right into my spot before....have you?? Sometimes, they get so close they actually bump into my boat.... I tend to keep my distance, and find my own fish. If I ever got that close to someone, call 911, because I'm having serious problems. Its funny, because even when i try to make small talk with them, in a totally civil, friendly manner, I get no response. A simple question, like what colour are you using, gets ignored. They carry on talking in thier language, laughing and pointing fingers, but act as though they can't understand a word I say. A few minutes later, their cell phone rings, and they speak in perfect English. That's just RUDE, and IGNORANT! I don't care if your white, black, or pink...if your rude and ignorant to others on the water, you are going to get centered out pretty quick, and people will not like you much. Keep it up, and it will seem like a racial issue, when in fact,it is not at all. Trust me when i say I have NO PROBLEM with any one catching a legal limit of fish. I will be the first to keep mine, if I can, as well. To be so ignorant is just not acceptable, anywhere you go, in any culture. It drives me nuts like you wouldn't believe, but I've given up on trying to stop it, and trying to educate. There is no hope. I've called the tips line I don't know how many times, with no results, and trying to explain to them that what they are doing is wrong, is like talking to a rock. It just doesn't work. The crazy thing is, I've been checked twice this week while turkey hunting by a CO. Different guy each time, in a different area. Meanwhile, up on the kawartha's, guys are raping the lakes S.

Hey Phil, I have a good buddy who went thru this same thing last fall. I've contacted him, and will let you know who he used. They did a real good job. He's in pontypool, but I think the company was out of durham. S. -
Yeah, bowmanville CT is one of the worste IMO. I've stopped going there, because they NEVER have what I need. Doesn't matter if its fishing or not, they NEVER have what I need in that store. I will admit, the new location is a bit better, but I was in there last week and left empty handed. The lure I was looking for was sold out.....big surprise!! The Lindsay store has always been amazing, and now its even better! The guys in bowmanville could get some lessons!! S.

It will work for sure, but it won't endure as many charging cycles as a proper deep cycle. I would use it until its toast, then get a true deep cycle. Make sure you have a good charger. S.

Graying is one I need to scratch off as well! Congrats! Cool trip! S.

I hardly troll at all for spring walleyes on quinte. I might drag around a worm harness, but I get the majority of mine jigging or on jerk baits. The fall fishing is a different story, its all trolling! Pigeon lake has gone down hill. There are many reasons, but IMO, I blame it on the guys running the locks. They have dropped the levels in there and left eggs out of water too many times, and now the lake can't catch up. It used to be my go to walleye lake, but i haven't fished there for eyes for years. Just not worth it, when there are several better lakes right in the same area. All the kawartha's are hurting from the water levels. There are several year classes missing in the whole chain of lakes that will never come back. It will take a few years with good spawning for them to recover. Lots of musky in there though!! S.

I would also wait it out. I think your going to have the same problem anywhere you go. 2 mos will fly by. Your dealer is a good one. You may be disappointed now, but they will come thru for you. Still sucks, but what can you do. I'd wait for the yammy over another brand myself. S.

We call them German browns where I'm from. We also get sea run specks. I'm surprised you don't have pics of one in here! S.
