  1. Thats a wicked report Bunk! That is one trip I plan on doing. Maybe next year. I will be in touch for sure! Those specks are incredible....I gotta get me a big one!! S.
  2. That really sucks!! There is nothing worse than broken glass!! Why are some people such idiots?? I hope you picked up the glass?? S.
  3. I would go with tracks myself. Mounted to the deck. They have inserts to go in them when not in use. You hardly know they're there. From the track, I'd run a 3 holder tree on each side. S.
  4. I have an open seat for ya anytime bud!! S.
  5. NOPE! I had a real hard time leaving! I was planning on visiting pokerdemon, but there just isn't enough time in a life to do it all!! S.
  6. This place is exempt from all those rules. It has been going on there for many, many years. They call it the millionaires club. They are pretty arrogant in my experience with anyone in there. I have hunted close to thier boundary, and they tried to kick me out of there too. I told them to stuff it, and they weren't at all happy with me LOL. They even went as far as picking up my decoys.....then I really lost it! Once I put the cell phone to my ear, they backed down pretty quick!! S.
  7. The kawartha's a full of them too. I'd be the first one in line for a license to shoot a few. These are sea birds, and after spending two weeks in NFLD, I've already seen more of them here, than I did down there. Its sickening. I took a quick ride thru the marsh where I hunt ducks last week, and all I saw were cormmorants. Hundreds of them.....never seen so many, in over 20 years hunting this marsh. Its time we do something before its too late!! S.
  8. I did plenty of that too Brian, no worries. It was more fun on the rod though, and I was getting bigger fish too I was down there for two weeks, when the food fishery opened. Fished every day but two. I brought home about 70lbs of fresh cod fillets :) Everything I ate while I was there came from the land or sea as well. No store bought meat the whole trip!! S.
  9. Yes 'bye! Good fish for sure! NICE trout!! We had a hard time getting big cod like that for the first week I was down, but the second week we hammered them! Lots of fun on a med spinning set up, with 20lb braid Your living the life my friend! I had a real hard time leaving!! Find me a job, and I will be back in a heartbeat!! Next time your up on the main land, get in touch! Always an open seat for ya buddy!! S.
  10. Yeah, its a private duck club. They own the land under the water, and post it once duck/goose season gets close. Season opens thursday for geese, so good luck getting in there after that!! S.
  11. Nice riggin! You'd be all set for specks and atlantics outta the brooks down home S.
  12. Hmmm......I have some fresh caught herring from down home I brought back with me last week. Might have to try that on the bbq! I'm not a big fan of herring, but when they come up on your cod jigger, you kinda have to keep them S.
  13. Well, I've had my boat in the water every month for over a year now. As long as I can find a launch that's partially open, I go for it. I was fishing in january and even february this year because of the crazy winter we had.....all from the boat. Fishing the icefishing season from the boat was kinda cool....and the fishing was great! I may be the last crazy IQ challenged on the kawartha's with a boat in the water, but I'm not fishing! It never really ends, if you don't want it too S.
  14. Fuel injection is great....as long as your battery is good. Without a battery, your screwed! At least with a carb, you can still pull start your bike and carry on. If for some reason your battery goes flat out in the bush, with a fuel injected bike, your done. As much as i like the fuel injection for cold starts, there is nothing wrong with a well kept carbed bike. We have one of each at my workplace, and I've never had any trouble with either set up in cold weather. S.
  15. Fillets I marinate in italian dressing over night, slap them on a hot grill skin side down, and don't open the lid for 15 mins. They should be pretty much done then. Smaller fish, 1-3lbs, I do whole. Same deal. Gut them, marinate, and put on a hot grill. A whole fish might take a little longer, but they always taste better! I usually put a whole fish on the top rack, and put a sheet of tinfoil under them to catch the oil, and prevent flare ups. S.
  16. As said, troll with the wind. Its much easier than going into the wind. The bungee works well too. S.
  17. I'd say your doing well to get a kia to last that many KM's. We bought a new one, and it blew up before 80K!! The shimmy could be a CV joint. Under power it will shake, but coasting you won't feel it as much. Does your steering wheel shake? Do you feel the shimmy in your butt, or in your feet? S.
  18. Could also be some crap in your carb blockin fuel. 2 year old gas, and sitting dry for that long is a good reason for a carb clean, and new fuel. I'd dump the old stuff in your truck, and start fresh with some seafoam to clean the fuel system out. S.
  19. Well, if you win, you might have enough to pay the launch fees S.
  20. If there was any enforcement at all, people might not take the chance at keeping over limits. I could go out and fill my boat any day, and know I have about a 1% chance of getting checked on the water. The chance of having a CO come to my house to check my freezer is so small, its not even worth talking about. Why freeze them anyways? Just go catch enough for a meal every week and your good to go! I like mine fresh!! S.
  21. Thats what I was thinking. Mine is mounted to the front deck, and rear benches. I don't have a quickset.....same deal, only I made mine. I think its better myself. A lot cheaper, that's for sure! S.
  22. No vids, no pay!!
  23. First thing I do is unhook the winch strap. Been launching boats for a long time, and many different types, sizes, styles, and never had one come off a BUNK trailer. Rollers is a different story. I do like Lefroy. Unhook everything, tie my bow rope to the trailer, and drop it in. If someone is with me, I get them to back me in, while I'm in the boat. Here is a test. Pull down the launch until your almost in the water. Put some slack in your winch strap, and just try to push your boat off the trailer......good luck!! Its not happening! You can't make it come off, I will bet my paycheck on it!! S.
  24. Don't do it. That is all. S.
  25. I do it a lot. Really easy. Just put the meat in clean bottles, put the rings and lids on just snug, boil for 4 hrs, remove from water and let cool...the lids will seal. Thats it. Add some "stuff" to them if you like. I usually put some garlic, onions, salt, and pepper to mine. Goose is great canned! S.
