how do I store spinner rigs/worm harnesses?
Sinker replied to northernpike56's topic in General Discussion
Yep, the lindy rigger is the only way to go. A pool noodle with toothpicks works good too.... S. -
Interesting. I've never heard of that before. I know a few good nettle patches that i owe revenge on! I might have to check it out! S.

I don't think any type of film is going to hold up to rock chips myself. You'll just end up having to take it off to repair the rust that will start underneath it. It may take a few years, but it will happen. If your that worried about it, the Line X, or the tow tector idea is the best. S.

It really depends how much you want to use it, and how you use it. I can troll for about 6 hours non stop, in a 15k wind, going 1.5mph, with a 31 series deep cycle battery. 16ft boat, with 2 or 3 guys. If I'm just using the TM to position the boat, it will run for days. I wouldn't say it will last you all 3 days though, I'd bring a spare for sure. At the very least, charge it each night for a couple hours off the genny. I wouldn't troll spring trout of any kind without one. S.

When/if you find morels, keep your lips sealed. They tend to show up in the same places every year. S.

I've watched that flock grow from 2, 3 years ago, to 6 the next year, then last year there were 12. They are a resident flock that you can usually find down in ken reid conservation area. They are doing well, and safe from me. Tundra's and mutes on the other hand....I can only wish for a season!! S.

The crappies are there, just being picky. I was out yesterday afternoon from 130 till 5:30. Caught easily 50 between the two of us, and brought 20 each home for dinner. They are in their usual spots, but you gotta fish hard to get them. I got mine yesterday in a spot I've never caught them before, On baits I usually don't use,so don't give up, just fish harder!! Think outside the box, keep moving, and if you catch one, work that area over really, really, really good....because there are more there. S.

Don't forget wild turkey and your fish of choice What do you do with the nettle? Fiddleheads are just starting to poke up around here, Brian. Another week or so and you should be able to find some. I find the fiddleheads are ready when the smelts run. S.

Not all swans, Chessy. Just the tundra's. There is a proposal in right now to the CWS with regards to a draw system for tags to hunt them this fall! I hope it passes, because i will be the first in line to put my name in the draw! I'd love to whack one!

Its too bad you couldn't read the numbers because you can report them online and find out where and when they were banded. Its pretty amazing how many miles these guys travel, and how long they live! There seems to be more every year around the K-lakes. I see them in the fall duck hunting too. S.

Definitely an eye opener. Just goes to show you stuff happens quick, and ALWAYS when you least expect it! Looks to me like the van took his eyes off the road, and veered into the slush in the middle, then lost control. Slow down folks, and worry about the rest of the people on the road! S.

We paid $800 for a full box and top rails of a 1/2 ton pick up last week, so I don't think the trailer would be that much. He would only need to do the front half as well, no? It is good stuff though, you wouldn't have to worry about stone chips ever again, that is for sure! S.

Have you looked into Line-X? Its crazy tough stuff. There is a shop in PTBO that could spray it on the areas you want for a decent price. They do a real neat job of it too. We have all our work truck beds sprayed with it, and its near bullet proof. The township salt trucks use it in the beds of the salt/sand trucks, so you know its gotta be tough stuff! You can get any colour you want too. P.S..it won't be cheap, but it WILL last! S.

Why do you think your plugs fouled? It doesn't really matter to me, I could honestly care less, but If you had of just got the fuel line from the start, you would have been done with this long ago. Anyways, enjoy your time on the water!! Oh, and you should definitely replace those plugs!!
-
Yep, you can teach them anything ya want, just spend the time! S.
-
So you changed the gas line, cleaned the plugs, and its running great. Imagine that! Great news! S.

They are a great breed. So versatile. My next one is going to be another Lab, then maybe a GSP. I've always liked them. She's pretty intense Just wait till it warms up a bit, and you won't be able to keep her out of the water! S.

I'm sure you'll nail 'em, Mike! The good ole hook and worm never fails!! S.

I run the dino oil as well. I have always ran the Merc oil thru my mariner, so I'll stick to it. I have about 20 litres to use up anyways lol. Buy it in bulk when its on sale. S.

I have 3 presidents, that get used mostly by the kids, and they've worked perfect from day one. I use them on the ice as well, so they've caught a few fish and been banged around plenty! For $50 ya can't go wrong! S.

It's Almost THAT Time Of The Year again . . .

I found that beep to be annoying, actually. Reel peel to me includes about 700ft of 25lb mono ripping off a downrigger rod, with a 30lb king on the other end. THAT will stop your heart!! Carping would be fun, I just can't find the time between all the other fish!! S. -

Well, you guys have fun with the carp. I'll be out slaying perch, crappies, and then a couple nice toms. Hope to have my two turkeys by walleye opener, then its game on!! S. -
I hit a dog one time too, so I know just how bad you feel. Not a thing you can do about it though. You did the right thing by stopping, and doing what you could to stop. Most people would have kept on trucking! The dog I hit was out in the front yard playing with the kids. They threw the ball, it took a bad bounce, and ended up on the road, with the dog in hot pursuit. The dog actually ran into the side of my car, and got caught up in the rear wheel. I felt horrible that the kids had to witness that. Ever since, I'm always on guard when dogs are near the road! Don't beat yourself up. These things happen, and there is nothing you can do about it. Just stopping was more than most would do. You should feel good about that! S.

I have a pretty good fleet of pfleugers, and haven't had a single issue. They get use A LOT too. I've even used them in salt water with no problems. I think you got a lemon! They aren't shimano or diawa quality, but they're pretty damn good for the price! S.
