Well I read the warning, but still had to open it. Where abouts are you building? No snow?? My old man still has about 5ft where he is on the northern pen!!! You must way south? I'm jealous!! S.

Turkey hunting is pretty exciting, but it can also be very frustrating. The greatest thing about hunting is a bad hunt can change to a hunt of a lifetime in a matter of seconds! Its always a rush! I finally got on the board yesterday afternoon. It was just a jake, but a gang of them ran off my tom, so I had to whack one. I told myself the first bird with a beard in range, was going down. I pretty near took his head clean off at about 10ft LOL The little bugger would have ran right thru me if I didn't shoot! S.

Your dealer also deals mercs.....have you asked them about that option? That sucks man, I know you must be pissed! S.

I would stay away from the turbo. I'd rather have cubic inches any day. S.

They are all good birds, but that one is a dandy! S.

Lenght of spurs, length of beard, and the tail feathers. I'm simply judging by the length of spurs. He could be a 3 year old, but I'm betting on 2. If it was a 1 year old, he would just have little nubby spurs. If he was 3 they should be over an inch. Sounds like you guys already got the boss tom, and this guy was looking for his turn at some action! Keep in mind, none of this is exact science! S.

I used 30lb mono backing, then the wire, and like Joey said, let it all out with a big plug on and reel it back in when your trolling to "stretch" it out. S.

Oh, I'm pretty sure they would find a way to take your money, Mike! I"m going to wait till after the weekend to read a response. I have heard of other "fundraisers" put on by ofah, where OFAH ends up with more money than the charity they are raising money for. How does that work? For the record, I am no longer a member. I have my reasons, and I won't bring them up in this thread, but they are with warrant. S.

Sounds like a 2 year old to me. Could be a 3 year old, but more than likely 2. S.

I tried all kinds of glues, and epoxies, but they never held up. Hot glue actually held up the longest. I ended up using that transducer for my ice graph, and put a new one on the boat. S.

I did the same thing with the lawn mower. Was cutting the grass and just knocked it right off. Buy a new one. I couldn't get it to stay together. Well, I did....but it always broke again when I needed it most. It was more frustrating than anything! S.

What is it your looking for? S.

Congrats! Good shot, and sounds like a nice Tom!! S.

No, the question is where is OUR money going?? I have no issue paying for tickets and membership fees, but if the fundraiser is not making money, whats the point?? The money they spend on this "fundraiser" could be better spent on our resources, no? S.

I call it beating around the bush. Or Bull. S.

We got most of ours trolling right around 2mph. I always troll a good spot several times, at different speeds/depths. Sometimes you will get them at any speed/depth. The key is to keep your presentation above them. If they want it, they will get it! S.

I have properties that I hunt where the landowner tells me to talk to his tenants for permission. If the landowner is never on site, and doesn't work the land, he really doesn't need to know anything about it. I also have properties where the land is leased, and the landowner has me clear permission with the guy who works the land. In this case, all the leasee asks is that I don't drive on his crops. Whatever you do, don't piss anyone off. Work on building a relationship, even if it doesn't happen this season. Always let them know when your going to be there, and carry out more than you carried in (I'm talking garbage, not game!) Offer a hand around if you see something that needs done. Repair any fences you see that are in need. I bring my kids in the off season for hikes, and we always carry out a bag of garbage, and let the owner know of anything that is out of place etc. I got permission this year on a property I have been asking for 4 years now. I still stop in and shoot the bull with the landowner any time I see him around the farm house. He's a great guy, but had given up on allowing hunters on his property. After getting to know him thru chatting here and there, he's finally agreed to allow me to hunt, but I have conditions that I must follow. The big one is no one else with me, which is fine by me. His biggest problem with hunters was that the guy he gave permission to in the past had a few of his buddies in there hunting without him being there, and didn't clear it with the landowner. So the landowner was out working the fields, with guys hunting it that he didn't know. It rubbed him the wrong way, and he stopped all hunting on his properties for years! It always pays off to stop in and chat. In my case it paid off bigtime! Most times they will talk your ear off, and ya can't get out of there! S.

I hear ya Jarrod. My cottage lake is always highly effected by the trent severn yahoos. Some years i can't even get my boat in the lake. I guess they are just waiting for the fish to spawn up in that area, then they will drop the water and ruin that hatch as well I'm not sure who is the actual person in charge of making the decisions, but they need to be contacted, and an explanation made public. I've contacted my MP but haven't had any response at all yet. S.

We did well two weeks ago on rapala tail dancers in size 7 and 9 flatlined back 100-150ft. I just use a medium spinning set up with 15lb braid to an 8lb fluoro leader. I find the smaller, less fished lakes are better for lakers. Vary your speed. Some days they want it dead slow, others they want it hauling ass! S.

I'd hunt it. I'd also try to get in touch with the owner, and tell him you've talked to the tenants, and they are OK with you being out there. Its a tough call tho.... This is the one thing I hate about turkey hunting. Its all about scouting and securing permission. I'm in it for the hunt, not the begging. I hate it. S.

That's not really a bad problem to have if you ask me S.

I just got back from 3 days of troutin outside of the park. The water was between 40-46 on the lakes we fished. Best action was in the afternoon, on the lake we found the warmest water. We had horrible conditions, obviously. I'm already itching to go back up to redeem myself. I think it will still be a week or two before things really get going. Good luck this weekend fella's! S.

Those poor birds! You MUST feel horrible
