Rotten Egg Smell In My Well Water (non-fishing)
Sinker replied to mukluk's topic in General Discussion
The homesprings unit I linked above will take care of all your problems. I had the same issues, and am also a drinking water system operator for my job where we run 4 of these. Its a great unit. Look into it. Many water specialists don't even know about it. It will get rid of your smell, the staining, and any bacteria, viruses, sists....pretty much anything. It will turn raw sewage into drinking water. Pretty amazing system!!! S. -
I'd recommend a power drive bowmount strictly for trolling. I don't really like the power drive units, but I LOVE mine for slow trolling eyes. Its the best thing since sliced bread! I can sit in my seat at the tiller, and have full control of direction and speed as well as both hands free to fish. No need to be constantly steering a tiller from the back, while the bow gets blown all over. The bowmount has way more control than a transom mount electric. I set mine straight ahead, and steer with my main engine (tiller). 99% of the time this works great. If its real windy, I will have to steer a little with the foot pedal, but its gotta be pretty windy. I can troll a good 5-6hrs non stop at 3/4 throttle with my 55lb into a good wind, up to 2mph, no problem. Trolling with the wind is a piece of cake, and I use much less battery that way too. Just my thoughts....I use my bowmount strictly for trolling 99% of the time! S.

We run 4 of these at my work, and they were so good, I put one in the house too. I had the same water problems you do. Works great! http://www.homespring.com/ S. -
Just ask Beans or HTHM what happens when you use those kind of seats in a boat. I wouldn't use them, they won't last long in a boat. Your better to find some used proper boat seats. If you going to do it, do it right the first time!! S.

Ha....my neighbours give me the same treatment! I've already had a full spread of canadas out on the lawn, and I even test decoys in my pool LOL. They think I'm nuts, especially when I'm hooked up to the boat in december after shoveling it out LOL S.

I broke one of the cardinal rules of boating today.

I thought everyone left a spare key in thier boat? One more reason I love my tiller....NO KEYS!! S. -
No need to even tie that one to anything, B. That tree is a piece of cake. You might lose a limb off the birch, but should be able to clear it The biggest problem with that one is the mess its going to make! S.

Anyone else notice the raccoon? S.

I use a 7' Shimano Clarus UL for pannies. Works great. Nice for long casts, or fishing with a set float in deeper water. I also use it for trolling inland specks and bows. Great rod, lifetime warranty, for around $100. Can't complain! S.

I was also going to mention the cold joint, but figured there was more than enough good info here! Just curious, but how old is that house? Did you buy it like that?? Yikes!! S.

Yep, I'd say that one has gone too far to help it. Budworm for sure. It will make OK campfire wood! S.

I've even caught them thru the ice!! Its loaded with them! S.

That's a 2 day, 3 man limit. Spent 2 days on St. Clair last fall with a couple buddies. Timing was perfect! The Can's just arrived, and we welcomed them with steel S.

yeah Can't wait for a bit of this.... First up is to whack a few of these...... This is my true passion. Fishing is just a way to pass the time until season opens again! S.

Buy shell V-power fuel. NO ETHANOL. Problem solved. Its all I use in my 2 strokes. I also run seafoam in every tank, and a full can in 25 liters once a year to clean everything out good. I have a '93 40hp tiller that gets used 9 months of the year, at least twice a week, or more. Only fuel related problem I've had was a bad fuel line. It was the original line, and I replaced it last summer for the first time. S.

1. Put it all on. Reel it on as tight as you can get it. I like to run my line out with the diver on, and reel it back in without tripping it to get it good and tight. Never let wire line go slack. EVER. 2. I've only ever used it on a dipsey. 3. Regular guides, and twilli tip is easiest and works great. I prefer them myself. 4. Wire to a snap swivel, then the diver. Let it out on a #3 setting, about 240ft back and see what happens Good luck. S.

Its good for charging batteries, but not a true deep cycle battery charger. S.

One easy way to find out if its lower unit oil is to drain it. Takes less than a minute to know for sure, and a liter of oil is cheap. Once you figure out where the oil is coming from, you can work your way from there. S.
-
What kind of oil is it? Gear oil? Does it stink? Looks like you need your lower unit seals done at the very least. Drain it and see what comes out. I bet its mostly water. No idea why it won't start, but I'd say your carbs need a good cleaning for sure. At the very least, get a can of seafoam and run it thru. Should help clean it up, but might not move any larger junk stuck in the carbs. s.

Love a good storm! Nice pics, Joey. I wish I had my camera with me yesterday. I had skies similar to what lew posted. We still need a lot more rain though. Great pics! S.

For the cost of a router, you really should make it yourself. S.

Raf, you and a couple buddies can lift that pole up no problem. It might be a little awkward, but totally doable. Dig a big hole and drop it in. Concrete if you want, but I wouldn't bother. Just tamp it in as you back fill it. s.

I have a friend who nearly killed himself cutting one of those open with a grinder. It was sitting empty in his back 40 for a couple year, empty. The first spark that hit the inside, blew it sky high. He was in hospital for a couple weeks. Lucky to be alive. Be careful! S.

Gas fumes + enclosed area + ignition = BOOM! You need to program yourself to hit the blower switch, before you turn the key, EVERY TIME. Kinda like putting on your seat belt when you drive. Glad nobody was killed, and they were at the dock, not miles from shore! S.
