  1. I use my 4" rapala fillet knife for everything. S.
  2. 15 years ago I ran the cheap stuff too. Don't worry, your time will come. Preventative maintenance is always cheaper than repairs. S.
  3. BJ's Bait and Tackle rents huts on rice lake, and they get crappies out of them at night. I've never tried it myself, but they do get them. S.
  4. Some great tips in here. I like the idea of tying the net on, Mike. I lost one a couple years ago! That's a great idea! S.
  5. If your plan is to hunker down in a spot, and stay there, you can't beat those pop up huts. They would be perfect for you, your wife, and child. A buddy of mine uses one all the time, and I'll tell ya, its pretty handy once its up and your on fish. It really sucks if you want to move though!! (its actually not "that" bad, but nothing like the flip huts) I forget what model his is, but its an eskimo, and its pretty big. Works great, no problems at all that I know of, and this will be his 3rd winter with it now. I'm thinking of getting one this season as well. S.
  6. I'd say the tank, or line from the regular tank is plugged or something. You may have even had water in the regular with ethanol, and none in the premium tank. There's no way your getting that much improvement just by using premium fuel. S.
  7. rutting hard here.....
  8. Well, it couldn't have fell down more perfect. Imagine if it fell the other way......yikes. S.
  9. When you live the life of a waterfowl guide, there is no time for anything else. These guys eat, sleep, and breath birds. They're up at dark thirty EVERY morning, in the field all day, cleaning birds after the hunt, then scouting in the evenings. Not to mention all the gear they haul around, set up, pick up, clean, maintain etc. Its a tough gig, trust me. Returning a phone call for a hunt that is not available is the last thing on thier minds. These guys don't sleep from Sept-early Jan. every year. S.
  10. Have you ran it on the muffs before? Mine won't run off muffs at all, I have to put it in a barrel. For whatever reason, it won't pump water off the muffs. Just sayin. Sounds like the overheat alarm to me too. S.
  11. They're fully booked for the season. Call to book for next year and you will get a reply. They're good guys, and know what they're doing........just really busy. S.
  12. Nice sled, but so much for winter now. Way to go, Simon S.
  13. I know, but I saw this on another hunting forum, and the poster says the hole is from a broadhead. Like I said, who knows? No sense jumping to conclusions. S.
  14. I'd like to think it was a deer that got away on someone, but ya never know. Even a well shot deer can go a loooong ways, and if it was raining, they're hard to track. Who knows. S.
  15. Good stuff Bunk! You captured some great moments with your daughter and father. That looked like a great day! I've never done the fall fishing on quinte. I always say I'm going to try it, but the hunting bug just won't let up. I'm actually going hunting there in the morning Look forward to seeing you on the ice! S.
  16. No prob. I think the one in Bethany is also ethanol free. S.
  17. The gas station in Millbrook in ethanol free, as well as the XTR in pontypool. Lucky for me, I live half way between both of them, and that's where I get my regular, ethanol free gas. Any other time, its V-power. I also watched the market place episode on high test gas. It was a little biased if you ask me. All I know is I have NEVER had a fuel issue with any engine I own, and I get way better mileage running Vpower in my turbo engine. I don't care what market place, or anyone else for that matter has to say about it. S.
  18. Well, you kinda have to wait and see with quinte. The ice forms different every year, and the current varies with conditions. Its almost day to day down there. Its certainly too early to be asking, that's for sure. I am a williams whitfish addict. I catch most of my fish in there on that lure. I also like the macho minnows, pimples, and jigging raps. They all work. The key with quinte is being in a spot where fish are going to travel thru. The fish there are transient. Always moving. So, setting up in a narrows, or location where there is a bottleneck will usually produce fish. That's about all i can share with ya for now. Once we actually have ice, try again and someone will point you in the right direction. S.
  19. That's all I run in my 2 strokes, and have been since ethanol was introduced. There are a few local gas stations in my area that have zero ethanol as well, and I run regular if I get it from those stations. I don't notice any performance benifits from the higher octane, I just like the piece of mind that there is no ethanol. I still always run a few ounces of seafoam in every tank though. I think it helps with the carbon build up from the slower burning higher octane. All that said, I run the shell V-power in my turbo subaru, and it increases my mileage about 100km per tank. If I'm putting premium fuel in it anyways, that's the best stuff in my experience. I've tried them all, and keep a detailed log of my mileage, and the V-power is miles ahead of everything out there. If it wasn't a high compression engine designed for higher octane fuel, I would just burn any old regular out there, but the car is engineered for premium fuel, and it does performe much better with the V-power. S.
  20. You have it backwards. The native was using the rifle, non native the bow. S.
  21. I still like the tundra myself. You get that bigger sled stuck and you will be wishing it was a tundra. Just my opinion. S.
  22. Thats a far cry from a CO. S.
  23. Yep, pretty cool eh? I was trolling eyes one time, hooked into a pike, broke me off. Re-tied the same lure on, trolled by that spot again, and hooked the same fish. Got my lure back Another time, jigging for eyes with minnows in the fall. My buddy sets the hook, has good weight, then snap.....gone. I dropped my jig down, thump, fish on. His jig was in the fishes mouth. He wasn't too impressed S.
  24. They're not hard to catch...... S.
  25. The whole point of stabilizer is to get it thru the whole fuel system to prevent gumming, and varnishing. If you don't get it to the carbs, or injectors, you kind of defeating the purpose. I realize it keeps your gas "fresh", but keeping your carbs/injectors clean is just as important. I use seafoam myself. In every tank. S.
