  1. Gobies??? hahaha I doubt it! These are open water fish, that feed on schools of baitfish. They don't hang around port hope harbour eating gobies!! A mature chinook can gain 10 lbs in a summer. That's a lot of gobies! lol S.
  2. If you have room for 2 27's, your better off, Raf. Less drain on two, than one single. I paid $140 for my 31 deep cycle....same as kirkland, made by johnson controls. S.
  3. Ya, it was entered in the derby, and its on top as of right now. Might hold out, but I know there are some big fish out there this year, lots of bait, and they only get bigger from here on out! Don't be surprised if there are bigger fish entered! S.
  4. Weighed in port hope. There was one entered last year as well. They're out there, and even bigger. S.
  5. Mine just has a nylock nut and washer. Hold the prop and turn it off. Lefty loosy. S.
  6. Ya, they're both good. I got my last deep cycle at kawartha battery in ptbo. The fella there was saying that the batteries he sells there are the same as the kirklands, just a different label, for less $$$.......so far so good, but I just replaced them this season. Can't think of the name on them atm..... S.
  7. It might cost you the shipping, but you'll get a new one.
  8. Ah yes. The goldfish. I still use those....they work! Your getting lots of great use out of the new boat! S.
  9. A friend of mine takes his adult son out in a wheel chair. He has an 18' stanley center console, and puts his son up front, just ahead of the console. Works fine. It takes 2 strong guys to get him aboard, and you need a launch with a good dock. I'm not sure you'll have the space, or freeboard to be safe in a ranger. If its rough, don't even try it. Pick a good day with stable weather. Its totaally doable, just be smart about it and pick a good day. Good on you for getting him out! S.
  10. Yes, raising the tracks is the way to go imo. You can also run a tree out of the track that will hold 3 holders. I know guys who run the trees. Out of a 6" track with no issues. They're solid! S.
  11. The cannons are tube style. Great holders, but I don't think I'd trust them down like you said, and they might not even angle down far enough. The salties are the way to go for what you intend to do. S.
  12. #1 on 50lb braid.
  13. Nice work boys! Our divers have been HOT! More fish on them than anything else. Almost always kings. Set them back over 200ft on a 3 setting and see what happens. S.
  14. I like mid lake hunps myself. Find some good sructure on your map, cruise over it slow looking for fish. When you find them, get jigging. You'll want a good bowmount or an anchor with lots of rope to stay on em. S.
  15. I think you'll only get a thumbs up from they guys who want to use your land like they own it for $500. Its really not a good way to go about making a profit from your land. $500 is peanuts for 5 months of use, and don't forget, once someone signs that lease, your stuck with them for a while. I would never lease out my land, and would never lease land to hunt. Its just wrong in so many ways IMO. S.
  16. Yeah, Billm brings up a very good point. Make sure to add that into your lease, and also the number of people you want in there.
  17. Wow.....not a drop here! Take care folks! S.
  18. There's definitly a market. Lots of people are too lazy to actually get off the couch and go knock on a couple doors and start a relationship with landowners. I've just heard way too many horror stories about guys paying to hunt. There are a lot better ways to make $500, other than having a bunch of people you don't know hunting your place. Do you have any friends that hunt? I hate to be negative nelly, but IMO, leasing land to hunt shouldn't even be allowed. S.
  19. Just be sure to tell the leasee your intentions of hunting it next year. It takes years to learn a new property. If a landowner told me I could only hunt for 5mos, and never come back, I wouldn't bother. S.
  20. Good times! That beach looks glorious! We have a similar boat access beach, but its still under water this year! Your son has the bug bad! Lol S.
  21. I'm not a fan of leasing land to hunt. However, I have no problem with working, or bartering in exchange for permission. S.
  22. Like I said, if it bothers you, don't leave the boats there. Simple. Trust me, I well know whats involved in a hunt/fish camp, that's why I stay away from joinly owned organized camps. Too much drama, and too many whiners! S.
