  1. Theres been some good perchin off willow this season, but the whities are a mystery! S.
  2. Actually, now that I think of it, I built a bunch of hand cut roofs up there many years ago. No, not that one LOL S.
  3. They no longer send the notices. Its up to you to keep it up to date now. S.
  4. That should be a trussed roof. The front gable should be hand cut 2x6 on 16" centers, built on top of the main trusses. Ive built a lot of roofs, and one that size should be trussed for sure. S.
  5. I've done a lot of hard things in my life, but putting down my dogs has to be the hardest. I feel for ya, Lew. It really is the only downfall of dogs. Its too bad they didn't live longer. I couldn't live without one though, just part of life for me. Sorry for your loss. S.
  6. I will agree, its not the BEST toe vehicle, but it WILL SAFELY tow that rig. Towing anything, with anything, causes excessive wear....to say its unsafe is overly cautious. S.
  7. Yes they have a small shop on the farm. I'm not sure about buckets and spiles, but I would assume yes. I've never gone there to buy them myself, so I can't say for sure. There are lots for sale on kijiji though..... S.
  8. So, explain why YOU think its not safe? Its perfectly fine. YOU are over cautious. Nothing wrong with that, its your choice, but if I had that boat and van, I wouldn't think twice about towing it, and I would not have a single problem. Common sense goes a long ways if you use it right. For the last 5 years I've towed a 16ft deep and wide starcraft with 40hp engine, bowmount, 2 30 series deepcycles, gas, gear, 2 kids, and a 100lb lab all over the province with no issues whatsoever. The car is rated to tow 2500lbs. If you can drive, and have a bit of common sense, you will be fine. If your afraid to drive, maybe not. S.
  9. Thanks for sharing that, Roy. S.
  10. Newfies tell the best newfie jokes.....shorties tell the best short jokes....its all good! S.
  11. Its a repost, but not even close to spam. Ive been cottaging in wilberforce for almost 30yrs, and fish elephant/benoir/baptiste a lot. This sucks!!! S.
  12. That's pretty cool! S.
  13. Look at the land O lakes area. Beautiful country, great fishing, and often over looked. I find the whole french river area gets busy IMO. Land O lakes, your hard pressed to even see another boat on a lot of the lakes. S.
  14. In my case, they spent the whole day watching us from shore with a spotting scope. 3 officers.....all for nothing. Meanwhile, at the other end of lake Joe.....Get my point?? I've never had an issue with a CO, or OPP either, but they can be jerks sometimes for no reason. Treat me with respect, they get it in return, treat me like a criminal from the get go, I will be a jerk too. I have nothing to hide, or worry about. S.
  15. IMO, you're over cautious. The Sienna will tow that rig no problem, its rated for it, and as long as the driver isn't an idiot, all will be fine. S.
  16. Like I said, if your scared to drive, get off the road. S.
  17. AGREED!!! I don't know how many times I've come up on a car driving with 4 ways on, and had no idea why they were on. If you need to put on 4 ways, get off the road! S.
  18. Sneaky they are! I had 3 CO's watch me ALL day once on lake joseph. We fished morning until night, and released ALL our fish. When we got to shore, walking in the trail, they jumped out of the bush and searched all our gear, found nothing, then tore apart my car, and found nothing again. When we were checked the first time I told him we were staying all day, and releasing everything, targeting BIG fish. I guess the sneaky buggers didnt believe me, so wasted sa whole day trying to catch us in a lie. S.
  19. I use squirrel creek farms for my supplies. They're just down the road from me. I kinda like to see things with my own eyes before buying it, and you get some great advice while your there. S.
  20. I've icefished well into April pretty much every year, except a few where we had really mild springs. One year I had the boat out in Feb, and two years ago, in march. I'm betting I'll be on ice until late april around here this year, but things can change quick with the right conditions. You can't base your ice out predictions on lots of ice and snow, the wind has the most impact on ice out. S.
  21. I think you'll be fine as long as you taker easy, and pick good ramps. A lot of people here are a little over cautious if you ask me. S.
  22. I wouldn't say half, maybe 2/3....just keep an eye on it, because it goes from syrup to fire pretty quick! The thermometer will come with instructions about what temps make hard tack, soft tack, sugar etc....its all about temp. The more sugar content the hotter the boiling temp. S.
  23. The candy thermometer will tell you what temperature you need to stop boiling the syrup at. It will boil hotter and hotter until it turns to sugar. If you take it off at the right temp, and add it to the snow, it will stay soft, like you described. I usually just eyeball it, or test it as I go, but the thermometer doesn't lie. S.
  24. This ^^......drives me nuts. Everyone has thier own comfort level, but if you are too scared to drive with the flow of traffic, its time to get off the road. I consider myself a good driver, and I have no issues driving in bad conditions, but I don't hold anyone up, and I don't put myself or anyone else in danger. These idiots on the highways driving in the left lane, or middle lane, and getting passed on the right need thier licenses taken away. Get outta the freakin way!!! S.
