Marine Cranking Battery Optima 31 vs. Big Red DC31

Same as everyone else. I'd buy two cheaper ones that last just as long and work just as good. S. -
Its running hard here now! Woohoo!!! Looks like it won't last long though..... S.

What kind of pellet gun you shooting?? I call Bull, Unless its a high power .22 cal. over 1000fps and your real close.......then your into PAL requirements, so you may as well have a real rifle. Shooting coons with a pellet gun in city limits can get you into a real pile of trouble too. S.

Id buy a custom built home over a union built shoebox any day. Ive built a few hundred of them, seen both types of builders, so you wont even come close to convincing me otherwise. Ive turned down building houses because of "shoemaker" foundations on jobsites. Id rather starve than work off that garbage. Foundations poured on top of frozen ground is the most common thing you'll see here from union guys. Unions suck IMO!!! All they do is save the slackers from getting canned!! S.

Im all for whackin coons, but dont shoot them with a pellet gun. If your going to kill them, kill them. Dont make them suffer a long slow death. Around here I use a live trap and I always have a full barrel of water under the downspout. To keep them off your bird feeder, hang it from a rope far enough off the ground that a coon cant reach it, and far enough down from the branches that they're afraid to jump to it. If its just on an L bracket attached to the tree, thats an open invite to a raccoon. S.

My 870 has been thru hell and back, and always goes bang! Its my go to shotgun ALWAYS.....because it never fails. Yes, they rust. A bit of rust adds character, but if you giver a wipe before ya put it away it wont rust. I keep an oily rag in the gun cabinet, and before anything goes back in, it gets wiped down. If its really wet, I'll giver a shot of remoil just for good measure. Best bang for buck IMO. Get the 3 barrel combo if its in your budget, and you can hunt any game in ON with it. The supermags seem to have some cycling issues once in a while ( seems random), but the magnums (3") seem to work flawless. No need for a supermag anyways. Learn to shoot and get your game close and you can kill it effectively with 2 3/4 shells anyways. S.

I have a hard enough time finding the Fin-S minnows and heads, so I refuse to disclose any info on them LOL. What I will say: if you find them, load up on them. I buy them all when I see them. Hard to find them for sure. The heads even harder! S.

Well, you could use screech bottles or cod jiggers, but coors light? Gimme a break. There are no true newfies who drink that!!! S.

A CO would enforce that for sure. S.

Trolling Lake Ontario for Trophy Spring Browns

Good work buddy!! S. -
Most times a cracked housing is cause by people who don't realize what happens when they don't change thier lower unit oil in the fall. You gotta change in before things start freezing. A lot of the cracked housings I've seen belong to guys who thought it was ok to just change the oil in the spring. S.

Yes, this. Sometimes the zone is much smaller than 10ft too. You can fish a back bay and not have a float go down once, then find that one spot where you get one every cast. Sneaky fish those crappies. I also like 2" white berkely power grubs, but the finS minnows usually work just as good. Colours vary depending on light conditions usually. One thing that is for sure. If you catch one, there is more. I"ve never just caught one crappie. Fish that area really well, and figure them out, because they are there. S.

Great vid! I enjoyed that! If your going to the island, and to gros morne, go all the way to the end, to Lanse Aux Meadows. Stop in and see my old man in Griquet on the way by. If its the right time of year, I could get him to take ya jiggin for some cod. No kidding, I'm serious. Hell, he might even take ya's in for a night! Pm me if you want more info. The recreational fishery is usually around the last week of july/first two of aug. The best time to visit the island as well. You can't visit NFLD and not jig a cod....at the very least, he would take you for a boat ride and maybe a shore lunch. He kinda gets a kick out of showing people around. S.

Good stuff Moxie! I'm jealous!!! As for outboards in cold weather.....you don't have to do anything. Just run them, and put it away like you would in the summer. The ONLY thing you need to worry about is water IN THE GEARCASE. If your lower unit seals leak, and water gets in there, then freezes, you can crack the housing open, then your screwed. Other than that, drive it like you stole it, no worries at all. S.

FinS minnows. That is all. S.

Well, this season is sucking. If I tapped twice as many trees id be doing ok. Collected 30l yesterday, but wont see another drop until thurs (maybe), then the weekend looks good, but after that temps are forcast to stay above zero day and night. Ive made a little less than 2 litres so far. Anyone I offered syrup to....sorry about your luck! S.

Our school buses were cancelled on wed here. The roads were bone dry and sunny skies that morning. Then it spit rain a little later that morning. They hype the hell out of it. Drives me nuts too Moxie, I hear ya man! S

I don't think there is a set of waders that last. If you use them a lot, they wear out. I've stopped buying good waders because there's no sense spending big money on waders when cheapies last just as long. I wear waders for duck hunting, not fishing, so this is just my opinion based on my experience. I am very hard on them. Most "fishing" waders I would tear apart in a season....sometimes the first day. S.

Best weather forcast available! Instructions for Newfie weather rock put Newfie weather rock outside If the rock is wet, it's raining. If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing. If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining. If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy. If the rock is not visible, it is foggy. If the rock is white, it is snowing. If the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost. If the ice is thick, it's a heavy frost. If the rock is bouncing, there is an earthquake. If the rock is under water, there is a flood. If the rock is warm, it is sunny. If the rock is missing, there was a tornado. If the rock is wet and swinging violently, there is a hurricane. Always 100% right! S.
