  1. Yesterdays batch... I'm not sure it was cold enough here last night to get another run. There was a bit of frost, and the puddles skimmed over, but I dunno if it was cold enough. The ground is still kinda squishy. If not, I'm going to pull taps this weekend, get all the gear cleaned up, and go perchin! S.
  2. Perfect ice fishing weather S.
  3. Yep. They're no good for working though. I got a set of Dakota bibs/jacket for work. Waterproof/breathable, and im real happy with it. So much so that I find myself wearing it more than any other rain gear. Breathes really good, keeps me dry, and tough. The cabela's gear is certainly drier, but I wrecked a set pretty quick. S.
  4. I seem to be getting a real good yeild this year. The 140l we boiled today made 4.75l of syrup. Good haul. Im happy with that, but sad its probably over. I plan on pulling taps on the weekend and hopefully yanking the boat out from the snowbank LOL S.
  5. There will be open water before may for sure. Watch and see S.
  6. Last week of april sometime. I have a buddy icefishing on simcoe right now on his quad, so its not going to be any time soon.
  7. Collected another 30l at home last night, and over 200 at work today. I have 140l boiling at home now, so 3-4 more litres.....then I should be done. I think....lol....might get one more run if it gets cold enough mid week. We'll see I guess. S.
  8. I troll with my electric A LOT, but a kicker is the way to go for any big water trolling. Pulling harnesses can't be beat with the electric though. Its way easier to control the boat from the bow than from the stern. S.
  9. Bingo! The government of this country is going to take us all down. I'm ready. S.
  10. My thoughts exactly. I don't go in looking for advice. I may ask where something is, then tell the guy/girl to beat it. Stoty does seem a little sour.....lol....I don't mind Sail actually. I go there over the other guys across the road every time. S.
  11. Bear hunting isnt my thing, but I found the meat to be great! Im considering hunting for one this fall. The meat I tried was from a huge boar too....a 400lber. good stuff! Ive heard a spring bear is the best, as there isnt as much fat? I dunno.... S.
  12. I personally dont think lunds are as good as they used to be. They have a great ride, but fit/finish is lacking in the last few years IMO. Id be looking hard at the starcrafts and alumacrafts if I was in the market for a new aluminum fishing boat. S.
  13. Atta boy!! Well said! S.
  14. There are a couple decent shows on the travel channel now that are based on travel moreso than fishing. I can't think of the name of them for some reason, but good shows. Interesting spots, cool fish, the guy has a serious passion for fishing, and there are NO ADDS at all. He doesn't even mention rods/reels/tackle....he just fishes and loves it. The traveling fisherman or something like that....I'm having a brain cramp....even river monsters is better than anything on WFN..... S.
  15. SWEET! Gotta love it! I hear ya on the therapeudic part! I enjoy it too. Good times, and what else are ya gonna do waiting for snow to melt? S.
  16. Thats what she said....... Big ole dirty carp, Rich! Congrats! S.
  17. Yep, weird season for sure. I'll end up with about 12-13l finished. That's not bad for my little set up. Last year was a little too much for me. If I upgrade my boiler, I will tap 50 next year at home, but until my boiler is upgraded, I'm going to have to stick with my 25ish taps. S.
  18. Yeah, I just collected over 300l from 40 taps at work. Same thing, buckets overflowing, and its still running in the bush here. My place stopped last night, and I don't think it will run today there. If it does, and the forcast is right, that will be the end for me here. S.
  19. I collected 60l this evening. My best one day run yet. It was still flowing when I collected after dark. Im hoping it gets cold enough tonight to stop it and run again tomorrow, but judging by the forcast, im done for the season S.
  20. Shes runnin good today!!! Brian, a bbq probably wouldnt do it. Each 5 gal bucket of sap should make a 500ml mason jar of syrup. S.
  21. Just finished 3.5l. Ive lost count, but somewhere around 10l of syrup so far. S.
  22. Thanks for that! Im far from a meat hunter, but I guarantee if we catch a few walleyes we will be having a fish fry! I have 3 nephews, my 2 kids, and a few others visiting through the week, so my goal is to get them fish, not me. Thanks for the info! S.
  23. I have whats left of 140l boiling now....its down to about 50. should get 3 or 4 litres to bottle. S.
  24. I usually do well out of virginia beach. You'll find them shallow at ice out. Like 6-8fow or so. Look for stained water, or the pack of boats. Plastics work well if they're on, but I always bring some minnows just in case. Much easier and quicker with plastics though. I usually rig them under a float, but must guys dont. S.
  25. Just re-read your post Steve....are you saying MORE pressure than buck?? Yikes... S.
