  1. 600lbs is nothing to worry about. I just towed a ford ranger on a trailer behind a 20ft uhaul from here to vancouver. Use your gears on the big hills, not your brakes. Going up is easy, its coming down thats a little more freaky IMO. We burned an average of $40/hr driving and its a 4700km run from pickering to kits beach in Vancover. The Uhaul had a 6.8l ford engine with an engine brake. It worked great. S
  2. Spooks and torpedos are all I throw at bass......but I rarely fish them. looks like a fun day! S.
  3. Still waiting........
  4. Nature is wicked, eh? Amazing what these critters do to survive! I'd love to get you and your camera out on a duck hunt!! Your pics are awesome! S.
  5. Yes, off a bottom bouncer, 4ft is standard. I only use a bouncer in 20ft or deeper, and its not very often I have to fish that deep. Generally in water less than 15ft, a 1/4 oz bullet weight 2ft from the spinner will get you down where the fish are, with about 100ft of line out, trolling 1.3-1.5 mph. I like them 2ft because most times the weight will catch the weeds, and the spinner will still be clear. Its a lot easier to manage a 2ft lead than a 4 ft lead in that situation IMO. I also find a lot of times when I hook a weed, I give it a good rip, and right when the spinner frees from the weeds is when the fish will hit.....there is a short pause as it comes off the weeds, and whammo! S.
  6. My thoughts exactly! Wicked photos, Mike! S.
  7. An entry level handheld would get you to shore every time. The elite 5 is a good unit for what you want it for. Im a lowrance guy through and through. S.
  8. I like single blades, and never make them longer than 2ft. No need for where I fish. I honestly find the simpler the better. My all time fav is silver hammered colorado blade with red beads. Catches everything that swims. S.
  9. Thanks for the info ONbuckmaster! Maybe see ya on the water! S.
  10. Great to hear things are going good for ya G! Congrats on the new addition!!! Thats awesome! I still have an open seat for ya if you can find time for some eyes! S.
  11. I use 17lb XT. Heavier if there are a lot of pike and musky. I find after 17lb it gets a little too stiff. S.
  12. I hear the musky fishin is pretty good there..... Im not the kind of guy to go out of my way for bass, but the kids can have fun with them. 13 of us going. 6 adults, 7 kids....i have the only boat....i suspect i'll be spending a fair amount of time fooling around with the kids chasin bass, but you can garantee i'll be setting some time aside to chase the real fish in the lake Thanks for the info so far, and keep it coming! S.
  13. I'm headed to Kasshabog lake this weekend for a week of R&R and fishing with the family. I've never been, and don't have the map on my Navionics.....any insight? We're staying on the SW arm of the lake, on the north shore. I'd mostly target musky, a bit of walleye, and Bass with the kids. Does anyone have a map of the lake? I'm not asking for favourite spots, but I'd gladly take any your willing to offer Thanks! S.
  14. Those pics are amazing, Joey!! Great job!! I love the eagle and heron with the fish....really great shots!! Did that Heron "spear" the fish, or is it just my eyes? Pretty amazing sequence of photos! S.
  15. I fish with my GF almost exclsively so far this season. Its not a bad thing when they beg for you to take them fishing!! S.
  16. Nice work Ernie! I use the bottle cap too....seems there is always one handy when its time to clean fish S.
  17. Smallies=Topwaters....but I don't fish bass hardly at all. When I do its topwater smallies or nothin! S.
  18. Lookin good Dave! S.
  19. Is there spark? Could be the coils (small black spark control thingy) S.
  20. Yep, this ^^ S.
  21. I'm seriously considering one of these trucks. Its about time they dropped a smaller diesel in a half ton. S.
  22. Whats the problem with the milfoil? I catch tons of fish out of it, so it can't be all that bad. S.
  23. Yep, free launch on SW side of bridge outside the park. S.
  24. Kawartha battery is cheaper for the same size battery....fyi....good batteries too. I have a pair in my boat now. Costco batts are great too, though. S.
  25. Put your lure of choice on, push the btton on the reel and let it drop straight down. Set the spool tension so the spool stops spinning when the luure hits the ground, THEN practice casting. Id start with a spinner bait myself. They can be casted easy, fish fast, slow, shallow, deep, weedy, rocky, and are pretty much snag proof. Something around 1-2oz is easy to cast and easy to cast all day. Any colour is good, as long as its white . Add a grub to the hook for a bit of flavour. Let us know how it goes. S.
