  4. I broke a shimano clarus with lifetime warranty last week. I have to make a trip up there asap. I also have an old symetre reel that needs some work....I'll post back on service. S.
  5. You could say that about any species of fish. Catching the big ones is never easy. They dont get big being dumb! Did you say you caught 4 50" musky today??? I cant get that magical 50"er out of the kawarthas!!! Caught hundreds between 40-49.5, but that big five O has eluded me!! S.
  6. I would if you were in my boat, or I was driving yours S.
  7. Wait till its 70 for the hard baits. For now go slow, and 6-12ft with weeds near an edge you'll get them every time S.
  8. They're just silly bass. Season should be open all year. S.
  9. Mine is 54" and I dont have any problems on a 16ft tinny. Even in rough water its fine. S.
  10. So did ya get a meal? My GF and I got 6 sunday morning. Kept a few for breaky. Back home before 9 for a killer breakfast. S.
  11. Obviously not....went back and it was nowhere to be found. Someone scored bigtime! S.
  12. Buddy of mine loaded his 2 man clam loaded with all his gear, rods, flasher, tackle, thermos, mr buddy heater etc, into the back of his truck and headed home without closing the tailgate. Never saw it again!! That sucked for him! S.
  13. I charge my gel cell with my deep cycle charger, and have been for 5 or more years. I cant believe it still holds a charge....i use it in the boat and on the ice. Just use the lowest amp setting. S.
  14. Go to an electrical supply shop and get a 12V Gel Cell. Rechargeable, cheap, and very effective. Should cost about $25. S.
  15. If its not safe in a 16ft boat, you don't want to be out there in any sized boat. Trust me. I've ran my 16fter all over quinte fishing and hunting. Never had an issue, but I do have a lot of experience on teh water, and keep a CLOSE eye on the weather. I also have a family of 4, and a 100lb lab, and we've managed to fish and hunt from my boat with lots of room to spare, however my boat is a wide open tiller, so LOTS of room. The bayliner will be more comfortable, but also more cramped for space. S.
  16. I would charge the deep cycle separately. Let the alternator charge your starting battery only. A deep cycle battery performs and lasts longest if you run it down 1/2 way then charge fully. If you run it down a little, then charge quick with the alternator, it wont last as long, and couldd even boil the battery or warp the plates. Deep cycles and starting batts are two different animals. After a day of fishing, charge the deepcycle with the intellegent charger. It should charge it most of the way on a higher amp setting, then trickle charge the last bit. S.
  17. It only takes one swamping to kill you. Id stick with the foam. S.
  18. Blue foam from home depot will work fine just cut to fit. S.
  19. I hear ya Lew, but that time of year my boat has a flip up duck blind on it, and im always cooking something hot on the coleman stove S.
  20. I mark the weeds on my graph. Just run around a bit and find some. I like to be on a weed edge myself. The spots I go, I've been fishing for years, and years, so I just know where to be this time of year. Navionics, or the good ole depth chart is the best place to start if you don't know where the weeds are. Its not hard to find them in the kawartha's!! S.
  21. Ok, bag of shelled peanuts, lots of ammo, good aim, and hope the little bugger sits still long enough for a shot! S.
  22. No crappies around bewdley?? Ya shoulda called me. I could fill a bucket right now in a couple hours. Its weird, I havent seen anyone fishing for them the times ive targeted them. They're there, and they're big too! S.
  23. Im sick of eating walleye already. Slow troll a worm harness along a weed edge and you'll get eyes. Thats the easiest, no fail way to get them right now. Keep your spinner as close to the weeds as possible, and keep your speed between 1-1.5MPH. If you dont get them doing that, something is really wrong!! S.
  24. Been around boats my whole life. I was almost born on one. In my experience, SIMPLE is BEST! I have a wide open 16ft tiller with a 40hp engine. I can fish bigwater, inland lakes, and 4wd into backlakes with the one rig. Takes no maintenence, fishes like a dream, and gets me where I needd to to at 30mph. Ive had bigger, smaller, more complicated, fancy rigs, but this one I will have forever. Best all around fishing boat for ME. It also makes a hell of a duck hunting boat!! S.
  25. Yep, it sucks. I fear im going to have to do the same in the next little while. Like Lew said, it is one of the hardest things a man has to do, but it is the right thing to do. This will be my fourth time, and I will subject myself to it again and again. Life just isnt the same without a dog in the house. Sorry for your loss. S.
