  1. Contact Lloyd Daume. U and Me Guide Service out of Newcastle. I think he is, or was a member here too. He is on Facebook. Great guy, always on fish, and nice an close for you. S.
  2. Theres lots of video of this fish for all you armchair measuring scientists. Its legit. S.
  3. Mine are direct to a dedicated battery that just runs my graphs. S.
  4. I've lost track of what goes where anymore. I have both kinds, and a couple humminbirds too. Then theres the bin of boat transducers, then the suction cup ones.....too much stuff, I never use, but just don't really want to sell. S.
  5. Best meat pies around. They also process wild game into meat pies. They've taken plenty of my money!! S.
  6. Yep, I don't care what anyone with a drill battery says, if your drilling through thick ice, in cold conditions, gas is the only way to go. I bought an ion, and I'm not super impressed by it. It does its job, but its too much money. I have a model 30 jiffy that does just fine, runs like a top, and has never leaked a drop of gas anywhere that now sits in my garage doing nothing, just to justify the purchase of going electric. Now, add up the cost of drill ($3-500), clam plate ($120), and auger ($200) and you have 2 brand new gas augers. I have buyers remorse after shelling out big bucks for my Ion. All that said, for the conditions we get here in southern Ontario, an electric auger does fine most of the time. S.
  7. Most people over cook anything seafood. Glad you enjoyed. S.
  8. Once the pot boils over the first time, the second and third only take a minute. Works the same on a propane burner. S.
  9. We always did our clams on a fire on the beach. Nothing added to the pot but clams and a tight lid. When the clams open, it adds just enough salt water to the pot to steam them. We'd let it boil over, remove the lid to simmer it down, then put the lid back on. Do that 3 times and they are done. Add nothing, eat them just like that. Sooooo good! We do mussels the same way. S.
  10. A side by side with a roof rack for the boat would be my choice. Then get some of those clamp on the bench seats for your back. S.
  11. Very cool Lew. Its amazing the wildlife you have there. S.
  12. I've only ever been a passenger in one, on the ice, in winter. It was decent, but slow. The ride was brutal. Everything got banged around, including passengers. Other than that, they go anywhere you point them. I know a few guys who use them for moose hunting, with tracks, and there's almost no stopping them. S.
  13. I think its cool as can be, just not for me. I like to keep things simple and effective, and have the least amount of things to worry about, and deal with. Thats all. I love seeing the rigging of others, everyone has their thing. You clearly have the skills and means to produce the rigging, so all the power to you. Also, I'm always around if you need a hand. You have my number. Hopefully we will cross paths out there this year. The fish have been chomping real good so far. I'm still on weekdays, so if your out on a tues/wed, don't be afraid to reach out. Lori and I had a 31 whitefish day last week, it was nuts! S.
  14. They mimic a blood worm. Simcoe fish are more into gobies, but they do feed on blood worms too. They would probably work good on perch too. S.
  15. Pretty cool stuff. Its just so much gear to drag around. My snowmobile and otter hut is much easier to deal with lol. S.
  16. Ducks unlimited maintains and creates habitat, so no, its not the same logic at all. They don't even support hunters any more, its all about habitat. Bass tourneys do not benefit the fishery at all. Its all a cash grab. Glitter boats tearing up the lakes, and killing a lot of fish. Sure, bring a few hundred people into any community it will generate revenue, but wheres the real benefit?? I value the actual fish, more than a few bucks in a small town. Without the fish, we are screwed. These guys should be doing more work to improve the fishing, not make it worse. Legal, yes. Ethical....I dont think so, personally. S.
  17. Yeah, but how does that benefit the fishery?
  18. I'm sure I have one of these. Its got the black plug end, right? I don't need it. I'm in Peterborough. S.
  19. Good time to fish the Fraser River for sturgeon, and a good spot. Thats where I fished out of, with STS Guiding. Had an awesome time and boated tons of fish. S.
  20. Lets hear the benefits of bass tournaments. S.
  21. You didn't fish the tri lakes 10-20-30 years ago. The bass fishing, and all other species, is garbage compared to what it was then. Also, there is a lot more tourneys, with a lot more anglers fishing them. Hmmmm.... Tournaments are just a way for someone to get rich. Not the anglers, but someone is making a lot of money somewhere. As for spring fishing, just go fish. If you catch something out of season, release it. Its really that simple. Don't target out of season fish, and you are fine. S.
  22. Same date every year!
  23. I've travelled the main lake of simcoe the last 2 days. She's pretty solid, and consistent as far as I saw. I didn't see any less than 9", and saw some spots with 15". Do NOT drive a truck out there. S.
  24. I think your both bidding way low. I know, for a fact, of a much smaller youtube channel that's making 200k US a year. It's right there in the math. Nobody watches TV anymore. S.
