  1. You'll be fine in a 4x4 truck right now. No worries. Lock her in, and go. You wont even know there is snow on the rd. If your afraid, pick me up on the way by and i'll drive S.
  2. Lookin good!! Thanks!!
  3. Hmmm....interesting. I was pretty much sold on the ecodiesel. Maybe I need a new game plan? S.
  4. We used to let the shotguns rip at midnight as well. I considered it this year, but guns and booze aren't a good mix, so we didn't do it. S
  5. Pretty mellow crowd here..sheesh. We partied, played tunes, and jammed until sunrise! Was a great time!! My guitar fingers are killing me, I had a bit of a head ache when I woke up, but it was all worth it! S.
  6. Thanks for the report. Keep us posted! S.
  7. Merry Christmas Shaun! Have a good one bud! S.
  8. Id rather spend on a quality reel, than the rod. Rods break, reels last a loooong time if you pay the price up front.
  9. I've been using my smart deep cycle battery charger on the 2A setting for about 5 or 6 years now on my gel battery. It works fine. S.
  10. And even when you do, they replace them free of charge, no questions asked. Best socks ever! S.
  11. I still have a 2 smoke, but love it. I've driven a very similar boat, with a same sized 4 stroke outboard, and its night and day. The 4 stroke is nice, but ya can't beat 2 stroke power......They both have their pros and cons. That said, my next engine will be the 4 stroke. I also duck hunt tons, and with a load aboard the boat, you can't beat the 2 strokes. The 4 strokes are dogs out of the hole. My boat with a 40 2 stroke will blow away my buds with a 40 4 stroke out of the hole, and on plane, by miles. He has a 16ft lund, I have a 16ft starcraft....my boat is a little deeper and wider than his too. S.
  12. This..^...he even has covers for his holes, with smaller 8" holes cut out so the kids don't fall through. Great guy, great equipment, and the perchin is usually good too. S.
  13. I asked for a pop up hut and a new cordless drill I can run my auger with. Hopefully I was a good boy S.
  14. I asked for a pop up hut and a new cordless drill I can run my auger with. Hopefully I was a good boy S.
  15. yeah, the whole point of the new drill is because I need a new drill.....I can drill holes in ice by hand no problem at all, but the drill deal looks pretty slick. Especially for early ice, or when you need to move a lot to keep on top of fish. S.
  16. Ok, that's it, I'm changing my name to Chris. haha Nice fish boys! S.
  17. I'm getting a new drill for xmas just for my auger. What is that set up you have to mount the drill, Kevin? How many holes will that do? I need some sort of rig to mount the drill to the auger, whats the best rig? S.
  18. I put snows on so I can avoid the rest of the riff raff on the roads. No false sense of security, and I don't drive faster, just more comfortable driving on snowy roads. I live in a snow belt, and I don't mind driving in snow at all....if I have somewhere to go, I go, regardless of weather. Sometimes my road doesn't get cleared for days, and I live on a big hill. No snow tires, and I can't even get in my driveway lol I don't think anything should be mandated though. If you don't drive much in the winter, stick with your all seasons. I also shell out the $$ for the best all season tires I can afford as well.....YOUR TIRES ARE THE ONLY THING THAT TOUCHES THE ROAD!!! S.
  19. I don't think it should be mandated, we have enough stupid laws as it is, but I do recommend them, and swear by running dedicated winter tires. The initial cost sucks, but they pay for themselves over time......by saving your all seasons. My car is BRUTAL in snow with all seasons. Dangerous. Put the snows on and it goes anywhere I point it. S.
  20. Yuk....coulda been going to quinte. Had the 401 closed for a while. S.
  21. I caught a 12lb laker on a stick when I was about 11 yrs old. It hit a Mr. Champ. 10lb mono. I'll never, ever forget that fish. I've caught quite a few on a jigging rod and reel that size and bigger since, and don't remember them quite the same. There is something to be said about handlining a fish up through the ice. I love it. I also carry all the high tech gear with me. I usually pull out the stick on a day when they are hitting good, just for old times sake, or if I'm traveling light to a back lake. It works just as good as anything else. Its not the rod/reel/stick that catches them S.
  22. How would I be handicapped? You'd be surprised how easy a fish comes up by hand if you ever actually did it. You'd probably be surprised how sensitive a stick is too, if you have the right one. Nothing like laying the hooks into a big old greaser on a stick! Or a whitie for that matter.....love it. I'm not talking a set line either, I'm talking a jigging stick. S.
  23. Nobody uses a stick anymore?? I've honestly caught my biggest, and probably more fish on a simple stick and 10lb mono than any other set up I own. Simple is usually better IMO. S.
