  1. There are filtration methods that are not "approved" that work. I operate a drinking water system that has one. I have to also use secondary treatment with chlorine, but every monthly sample raw from our filters have come back clean. Getting the approval is the hard part. They're not cheap, or approved, but they do work. However, I don't know the regulations on a residential system well enough to say whether you could use this filter there or not. S.
  2. I've never heard of berkey before. Do you have any other information about it? E coli in your well is not good. You should consider finding the source, or other treatment, or decommissioning the well. There are a lot of good treatment processes other than "bleach" as you put it. Is this a dug well, or drilled? I hope you didn't pay to much for the berkey....what a bum. S.
  3. There are many, many lakes that have rivers running into them though. I can think of 3 places that ive been, that I can drive to, that are open all year. For all I know these were poached OOS, im just saying there are places where it is legal.....no need for you guys to jump on him. S.
  4. Yep, pretty clear to me too. It is a sanctuary from the second saturday in May until the third saturday....thats what the signs are for. Its not up to the MNR to post signs anywhere, its up to the angler to know the regs for the area they're fishing. S.
  5. A lot of internet CO's in this thread. There are tons of "open all year" speck spots around, especia"ly in zone 15. Nice specks BTW! S.
  6. Your missing the exceptions in fmz 17.....give it a good read. I know what it says, but you guys should also be able to read and understand the regs. S.
  7. Its pretty simple to look up the regs online and find this info out. Give it a read sometime! S.
  8. Fish from shore at night with a slip float and a minnow. Hang out on the dock with a few cold ones, have a fire, and watch the lines. We get em real good this time of year. Water was 44F on wed, so they cruise the shallows at night. GL S.
  9. Yep, this time of year I catch them in some of my spring spots as well. You know the ones, Hooked. Shallow, and at dusk, into the night. S.
  10. I'm glad someone said that. Thank you. S.
  11. All I can do is bite my tongue, and pray for the friends and family of the soldier that was killed. If I had it my way, these problems would suddenly disappear. POOF.....gone. The bleeding heart mentality in this country is going to take us all down. Its about time we stand up for ourselves. S.
  12. I remember one time we were up north fishing whities, where the limit was 25 each. We had a good pile of them in the truck from that morning, then pulled onto lake simcoe for some afternoon perchin on the way home. You shoulda seen the look on the wardens face when he looked in the back of the truck LOL.....luckily we had a reciept from the gas station where we caught the whities, or he was going to fine us and take the fish! S.
  13. Yeah, mine are pretty much the same. S.
  14. I had these on my subaru forester XT and it was crazy the amount of snow it would go through. I did laps around my buddies 4x4 chev out on lake scugog in deeep snow and laughed at him LOL. Great tires. My work also runs them on our fleet of work vehicles and they last pretty good. Again, not the cheapest rubber, but they are worth it. I swear by them. Great on the hwy too.... most of my driving is on the hwy, at speed. Love them for that. S.
  15. Yep, they are nice clean fish for sure out of there. I assume your thinking scugog? Definitely different than the rest of the kawartha's. S.
  16. Hahaha....thats funny....sorry! You'll get there sooner or later!! S.
  17. Who cares if a guy wants to take a dead fish? Does it really matter? Its dead. Dead is dead. I think our enforcement officers have better things to be concerned with....if you can find one. S.
  18. Mine is the same...and has been for the last 20 yrs....i thought u just wanted more height on the trailer. S.
  19. Yep, there were high fives for sure! Slimy, musky smelling high fives
  20. Are the springs mounted under the axle, or on top of the axle? If they are under, you can gain a couple inches of height by mounting them on top of the axle.....maybe. Pics would definitely help. S.
  21. Its already grown about 4" according to him LOL. He's probably right too! S.
  22. I had snow on my roof and car this morning just south of peterborough!! S.
  23. Mike, we've done well with your spinners. I also like the fact that they hold up to multiple fish! Pete, water was high 50's. I lost a real doozy right at the net on the same set up, same area, on the next pass going the opposite direction. What a heartbreaker. I truly believe it would have been a new PB weight for me in the kawarthas. Boy, did I ever hear it when it came off lol.... I dont usually fish when its hunting season, but he's has the musky bug going baaaad, so I think we'll be going a few more times in the near future S.
  24. FINALLY got my son hooked into a good musky. Its taken what seems like forever, but last night it finally happened. It was a nasty, windy, rough evening on the water, so we just stuck to trolling. We were doing 3mph along a deep weed edge when the rod with the Handlebarz blazing walleye went berzerk. He could hardly get it out of the holder, but he got 'er done! The fish slipped out of my hand while trying to get a measurement, but it was 40" for sure........the young lad just wanted a number to brag about. Great fish for him, took him for a good ride, and had smiles all around!
  25. 50lb braid is only 12lb mono diameter.....casts no problem with a clackin rap on a spinning reel. 15-20lb fireline is done just reeling in the clacking rap in rocks and coral with toothy fish.......without the fish. S.
