  1. lol, I'm confident I could sell it for 3-4 grand more than I paid, but there is no chance I'm parting with it any time soon!

  3. I can use the bailer from the boat, no? Thanks everyone! Feels like a lottery win for sure. I had been looking for a few months and there aren't a lot of great options unless I wanted to pay over $7500 which wasn't going to happen (unlesss I wanted 20HP and less). The seller said he had 40 people contact them within the first few hours, and even though I offered to buy it unseen (they had posted lots of photos), they said I had to go in person. I got there as another guy was viewing the boat and I started chatting with the owner about fishing and found out he has a place on Lake Nipissing (which I visited years ago at Lakeair during an OFC trip, so we had a great chat). The other guy, who didn't look away from his phone (Facetime) and didn't even say hello when he arrived made a low ball offer, and the owner looked at me and said "You want to buy a boat?" of course I said "Absolutely, I would like nothing more than to own this boat!" and he told the other guy "Sorry, it's sold." One of the happiest moment in my life, I felt a connection to this boat the moment I laid eyes on it, and the Yammy is exactly what I wanted!

  4. After years of pounding the pavement, paddling kayaks and canoes, renting boats and hitching ride with friends I've finally taken the plunge! With our cars and credit cards all paid off, we are completely out of debt (besides our mortgage!) and I was able to negotiate some spending with the wife. As I'm sure most of you are aware, finding a used boat in this current market is crazy, but I got "lucky" and found a family selling their second boat at a price. It's a 1993 Sylvan Sea Monster side console with a 2000 40HP Yamaha outboard, and ready to fish! I'm the 3rd owner of the 15.5 footer, and the previous owners always kept in the the garage and provided all of the maintenance and purchase records since 1994. Looking forward to getting the whole family out on the water (which was a problem in a canoe). For anyone wondering how the negotiations went with the Mrs, she is getting a dog...a fair trade to bring my dream to a reality! I just got my hitch installed and will be bringing her home as soon as possible! She is neatly tucked away in @JonnyButts driveway and we are already counting down the days to musky season. Let the adventures begin!

  7. Most of these people wearing masks alone while in cars are delivery drivers working for Uber and Skip the Dishes type employers. They will lose their incomes if customers complain, so they wear their masks full time to avoid forgetting it. Then there's the small clueless percentage who think doing so will somehow help. Mesh see through masks are a great thing for those who aren't exactly on board with wearing masks.... I really don't understand why it's okay to take my family to stand in a crowded area to get ice cream and then go play at a park with dirty kids snotting, coughing, sneezing and touching everything. But, I cannot go by myself to a boat launch and spend the day in the middle of a lake literally kilometers from anyone? Petitions are mostly useless, but I signed anyways.

  9. The caps look more like an intentional restoration unit to hide a new cap in an old style can to keep an amp or similar looking original.

  10. When you think about it I wonder how many folks actually put a new cap on a meter before installing it, probably not too many. That's a huge difference in values, it wouldn't work as designed and too high a voltage would fry it and the outer can wouldn't show any bulges. Crazy

  11. You have to act fast on the good boats. When I bought mine last year I went with cash for a down payment, then went right to the bank for a draft when I decided I was buying it.. it was a bit of a gamble as it was 3 hours from my house. Mine is also a Sylvan and it's my second one.. they are good solid boats..

  16. Can't you just get three separate pieces made, line em up and screw on using the original console fastener holes I think I see? Then use some kind of inexpensive 90 degree edge trim to silicone on ensuring silicone is also between the sheets underneath it?

  18. Hey J rock, I am not too sure about Four Mile lake but I do fish up your way (Crystal Falls) on Lake Tomiko. Very few boats and TONS of smallies to catch. I was there last Sept. and had a couple days where the boat landed 100 fish. Plus you will get the odd walleye as well. Lots of fun to take kids. I used a drop shot mostly and was nailing more fish than my Cousin and his wife. I might have some maps of the lake, if you are interested PM me and I will look for them. Chrispy!

  20. If it's not far from your house we should be asking you. But let me guess. You just moved to the area, now I'm jealous. I see your a newbie J rock. On behalf of the members here on OFC welcome aboard. Please read the rules carefully. It is important that you understand them too. There are a bunch of good guys and a few gals here. Being not far from Nord Bay you are surrounded by good fishin' and a World class Musky fishery in the West Arm of Lake Nipissing. N.B. No one named me spokesman for welcoming new members

  21. This lockdown may have good reasoning; but it sucks big time. I had to say goodbye to my fishing partner, best friend, my elder brother this week. After fighting years of cancer, it finally took him last Monday night! I had a half hour with him at the funeral home; as many people were waiting outside to show their respects to this man. This morning I wasn't allowed to attend the funeral and church service for him; because of this frigging lockdown. I had to sit here at home and watch the service on youtube; total Bull!!! What a shame a man that had nothing but love for all of his family; which a large part of this family wasn't allowed to attend. I'll follow the covid rules; but for damn sake lets get a handle on it. I'll miss you Morris; sorry I wasn't able to be with you!
