Most know I have been a toon guy for the past 10 years or so . After many air leaks and then the big blow out last year, I had enough and decided I would either go yak or a small tinny . Put out a , ISO either a yak or tinny, but nothing crazy priced . Got a response from a local Barrie guy about a 12 ft light tinny . Went and had a look see . It was just what I needed. Light , deep and easy to handle . Fits in the back of the Ram and will be there til the notty is unfishable in the fall . First on the agenda will be whitie opener here on Simcoe . Maybe a laker chase or 2 . Then I want to fly fish for some bass and what not all summer . Then the fall salmon and bow runs on the notty . Powerd only by electric motor that I have had for a few years now from fisherman . It pushes this tin banger to almost 4mph . Made sure all was good and now ready for next weekends opener . After thoughts of needed things . A clamp on seat base . I have a nice folding padded seat still from my toons along with strong oars aswell . Bench seats are low and hard on the knees . Maybe an extendable handle so I can sit on the middle bench . Hard to steer the electric from the back bench . Nice to be back in the game for $300 . 😃 Simple man, simple float boat .3 points

Looks great, I think a 60hp would finish it off nicely and get you to where you need to go just a bit quicker then an electric lol3 points

Looks perfect Brian. Have fun! But Terry is right a 60 would push it along real nice!2 points

Not photoshopped, it's a screen capture from Google maps. 🤣2 points

I'm good with FFS, what I'm not good with is guys sharpshooting. This is on the same level as guys fishing redds for steelhead in a foot of water. I don't have FFS, but if I see a fish on my side imaging, I'll make a bunch of casts if that fish doesn't engage off I go to find another one. I definitely don't sit there and circle the fish for an hour dropping 100 different baits on its head.2 points

Just a few random pics I came across by accident, forgot I had them. Tending to the trail cams Tuesday so hopefully I'll have some better stuff to post.1 point

Well the inaugural voyage went well this morning, bit of a late start but lines in around 8:30 and lines out at 1pm. It took about 30 minutes to put a program together and once we had it dialed in we did pretty good. My buddy truly had it dialed and at one point had a 5 fish lead on me. I had 4 fish move my rods but only one connected and it was quickly lost. In the closing hour I finally nailed one to avoid the Skunk followed by one more for greaser for my buddy who started the day with 2 greasers before we found where the Kings were lurking. Big fish of the day as probably 22 plus, not bad for an early Spring King. Water temps 44 to 46, staying in 46 was key and no surprise that body baits were the ticket.1 point

Sorry, I should of been clearer Chris . The back bench seems close to the transom, which makes steering the electric hard . The balance is fine, but sitting in the middle bench would give me more space. Looking forward to many pleasurable outings.1 point

Congrats Pal. Assuming it's most likely a 12 volt transom Brian, I'd suggest if I may a pair of DC Batteries hooked up in parallel if you don't already have them and put them up front to keep the bow down for better steering and the motor running all day. Good luck on the White opener.1 point

Hey Weeds, Fish-Online is your best tool for this stuff. Chandos is closed but there are some places around to wet a line. https://www.lioapplications.lrc.gov.on.ca/fishonline/Index.html?viewer=FishONLine.FishONLine&locale=en-CA&extent=-8689671.910911974%2C5582567.083956182%2C-8671690.10000791%2C5598370.439554121&waterbody=17-7351-49679 Have a great cottage weekend regardless. Muskies in the Lower Niagara as well, someone always catching one or two during the St.Catharines Game and Fish Derby in the spring and that was in the 80s when I was a kid! It's really not surprising a few have taken up residence in the harbour.1 point

Orillia Perch Festival kicks off this weekend. There'll be a pack of boats out from Atherly Narrows...they're usually catchin' more than a sun tan..1 point

I think it's a take on "Cabbage Dragon" which is common moniker for Musky in NW Ontario.1 point

I did! Last year I decided to dedicate more time to musky and made sure all the above items are on my boat!1 point

guys, if you're targeting musky, please equip yourself with a proper landing net, jaw spreaders and a good set of pliers...a good set of knipex bolt cutters also helps. unhook your fish in the water in the landing net. If youre taking a photo, get your camera ready, have the fish already unhooked, grab the fish take your photo and put it back. Most obvious of all, dont fish out of season like these bozos.1 point

You can't beat late July/early August anywhere in the GTA...Scarborough Bluffs, Toronto Islands, Mimico, Port Credit, and Bronte . From my experience, the south shore (Grimsby, St. Catharines, Niagara) is best late April to early June. Smitty55 is right on...I have several buddies that move their charters from Port Dalhousie/Weller in the spring to Bronte/Credit for the summer. That being said, anywhere on the lake all summer long will always produce some fish. Just keep in mind that often by late August/early September they start thinking more about spawning than eating.1 point
-
That's a good question. Annual fish movement varies as they move around the lake through the seasons and a charter guy I know definitely changes his locations throughout the season to follow fish movement.1 point

His twin brother also caught a Musky in the harbour in October 2022. It was larger at 43 ", so there's at least 2 of them.. The Sampson boys seem to have it dialed in for Esox in sight of the CN Tower...plenty of 40" + Pike from the harbour too.. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/muskie-toronto-harbour-1.6637077 Yes, my salty favourite too....the original "Silver Bullet"...Nothing, pound for pound, pulls drag like a Bonefish. Wet wading, then hunting/sight fishing in skinny water. A 10 lb is a trophy, but even 5 lb will pull 100 yds of drag in a single run..1 point

I drove 2 hours to catch the one in my profile pic (from shore). Not a monster but still my favorite fish I've ever caught freshwater (I caught a bonefish in the bahamas from the beach on my honeymoon- that is my favorite saltwater fish lol) I'm sure the biologists will be all over this to see if there is a viable population of muskie breeding in Toronto Harbour now.1 point

While they are all in Kiawatha's, Rice Lake so it would seem that the harbor wouldn't surprise me. Got to love those muskies0 points
