  1. I think they are caused by the bunks being to short,I was told years ago that on aluminum boats the bunks have to be long enough to support the transom to prevent bending or cracking when trailering.

  2. When I arrived at 5 am,the fly hatch was amazing. I could see all these small fish hitting the flys on the surface. I even seen a few bigger fish, but could only manage about a 7 ,in this size range. All on my morning dun flys. Only took a pic of this one just to prove my own tie works . So many times I had a fish take and miss the fly right on landing in the water . That is crazy active feeding . Was a fun morning forsure, even if they were small. There was a mix of flys. Large white ones and small. Came upon a dead resident. Not sure how it got dragged up to the bank. That would of been a fun one to catch. It would seem it is also turtle egg laying time. Came upon this big lady. And this one crossing the road path. I have seen a few real big brutes in the water system. Just a short vid. Funny thing, they were really active til I clicked to make a vid.LOL If you watch close, you will see a decent fish move in the riffle.

  3. The store has come through again for me. I just wished they had other colors. This bulk bag of some black fiber I found for only $4 bucks . I am not sure if it is synthetic or not, but it will make great streamer and dubbing material. Will be tying it up Tuesday on some jig heads. Oh I also found my new stream trout net. $4 too, and will do the job. I can take the Ninja Turtle piece off, but that just would not be right. LOL Hey,look at that cool guy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  8. Did you upsize your motor to something heavier? You might want to put a transom saver on that (motor support). They where on sale at PA for $35...

  10. I can read 2D sonar on my 898c HD with the 180 HDSI transducer at 35mph no problem. Sounds like you've got an alignment/install issue on that 'ducer.

  11. im not sure why they would tell you that. My dads been running a 858hdc for years and never had an issue running the 2d sonar at speed. Now there is definitely something specifically called a "high speed transducer" that guys will mount through hull etc etc. But to me thats if you really really need a perfect image while travelling at speed. Once again in my experience the only thing you wont be able to get a reading on at speed is your down and side image. They also dont like too deep of water either but thats an entirely different story.

  12. I have tied a few with the post. My firsts. I would post, but they are in the truck. That post is a great visual for me as well. I split the thickness, but I think my next ones will have the full chunk. Also need to use thinner hackle for sure . Picking up some small hooks this morning. Rain day Tuesday,so lots of tying to do . When they are taking bugs like they were yesterday Dave, I just stuck with the dry . I am taking baby steps, but my next outing I will have a drop with a small wet. One outing at a time .

  13. Don't get hung up on that Dry Fly purist mentality, I caught more and better fish using simple wet flies , streamers and nymphs.

  14. Brian, try going with less hackle, sizes to the hook! (1.5-2 times hook gape)Ive tied some 16s. Not fun for my old eyes. Ive also tied lots of klinkhammers in 14 and 16 lately. Parachute post are easy and the sighter really helps old eyes! Lol! Sure wish i had a river close by!

  15. Also check with the marinas/dealers you prefer. They may have some coming in from folks upgrading. May help a sales person selling when they can tell their prospect they can sell their old one.

  18. I remember being at the local bait store with her and her saying that this pink lure looked cute. Picked it up and put it in her stocking at Christmas not knowing what would happen. She hit on the first shoal (15') of my trolling route.

  20. I would avoid going that route of filling the boat. Boat hulls are designed to take the pressure from the outside inwards, not the other way around. Filling it even partially will further stretch the rivet points and seals to the point that the leaks will just increase. Just my opinion.

  21. I’m running a 22 year old Yamaha...thing starts like it’s new, doesn’t really put out much smoke for a two stroke and hasn’t given me a single issue and I definitely run it close to 100 hours a year. I also have an 88 suzuki that runs and has been abused horribly over the years lol. The original oil pump still works I don’t even have to run mix in it. previous owner told me the only thing ever done on it was the valve cover gasket. Aside from that it’s oem. I changed the impeller in it when I bought it. That’s it.

  22. Looking good Brian. A little tip for your peppers. Once they start to flower get an empty spray bottle and fill with lukewarm water and a teaspoon of Epsom salts. Shake well and give the peppers a really good spray, soak the whole plant. The magnesium in the epsom salts really helps the peppers set fruit. I have had pepper plants fall over in the garden from the weight of the peppers on them. With good conditions you can easily get a dozen or more peppers per plant.
