  1. Saws all make quick work of the offending body panels. The rear trailing axle will be fully adjustable. I’ll be able to take the idler wheels all the way up to touch the drive wheels. It’ll also have left & right track adjusters/tensioners. Yes simple once people see it finished; old tech is sometimes the best. Dan.

  2. Looky what I got today. LOL Had to first transfer Sally into my name, in an unfit ownership and pay the tax on her. Then a had to write and sign a letter of decalration; listing all the changes made to convert her into an off road vehicle. Test fitting the tracks for the first time. It all looks loose and sloppy right now; I still need to build the trailing arms that attach the differential tubes to the trailing axle. At least now I can get the measurements I need.

  3. The tracks are all but done; still need to do the final tightening of the treads, once I've mounted them on Sally. I started putting the trailing axle together, got as far as welding the stubs onto the axle and had to stop. The guys got here to help build the box for the bobsled. With the snow that came down on the weekend, I was able to run the sled around the parking lot here at the shop. The thing towed like it wasn't there. Left the quad in high range and 2 wheel drive; it didn't even spin the tires. At about 15 klicks per hour, I made a right turn around the end of the building; looked over my left shoulder to find the sled at about a 45° swung out to the left. The puck board has made the skies that slippery. Put 2 rows of bench seats in, a truck topper on top, squirt some paint on and it'll be done. Dan.

  4. I love pickerel/walleye but these guys are better eating than even Simco perch (which are my favorite fresh water fish). For their size they put up a really good fight!

  5. Thanks Dutch01, that's the type of feedback I was looking for. I've seen the owners group on FB. I hoped there was someone on here who had one in use, but seems like a fairly new product. I'll give the owners group a shot as well.

  6. You are insane. -10C outside and 70F inside my shack and my fingers are freezing looking out the patio door just looking at the ice cycles hanging from tree branches.

  9. If he is trying to do it himself, what stage is he stuck on? My son and I have been having fun building them as well. We source out all the components based on what performance, and aesthetics. Just finished one that is wall mounted (glass front), LED fans, ram and liquid cooled...the works. Just a hobby.

  10. I've always said that an approaching cold front turned off the bite! Well, the first three weeks here the weather was pretty consistent and so was the fishing, playing around with tide charts and solunar tables proved to be more accurate at predicting the most productive times for fishing than I expected. Then a cold front approached, even though the solunar tables and tide times indicated the best fishing, the bite became almost non existent! Yesterday was +19 but the forecast called for temps to drop to 0 last night (we've been seeing low to mid teens at night up until now) with highs hitting high teens to low 20s every day. As of yesterday two of us totaled 5 fish and a check later in the day with about 50 other fisher persons resulted in hardly a bite in hours of fishing. Today was cold with a North wind (good thing I brought my winter clothing just in case). I fished for about an hour at what should have been a fairly productive time without a single bite. Might just be coincidence but...... Oh well two cold days then things warm back up again 🙂

  11. Great tips Reef Runner, you are bang on. No tips from me Cliff but you are lucky to get warm weather in S.C. this time of year, that's warm for spots in Florida actually in mid January. I remember we were down there golfing on Halloween and woke up to a dusting of snow. It didn't stop us from golfing, the guys in the clubhouse thought we were insane. Walmart down there does not sell Longjohns!! Enjoy you lucky guy.

  15. You can buy it as an upgrade to your existing motor or factory installed on a brand new trolling motor. One good thing about doing it this way (for kayakers at least) is you can get a cut down shaft option with full warranty as Pronav are Minnkota authorized. Being able to look at a screen on your phone and touch drop route waypoints on an overhead satellite pic (or Navionics map) is pretty slick: I was thinking of putting this system on my ATAK120 (kayak). But I started doing more backcountry stuff (wheel in or paddle in) and decided a Hobie made more sense - no batteries to charge and less weight. Otherwise I think this system would be killer on the right kayak (or boat).

  17. Glad you're alright. I went for a Simcoe swim as a teen 30+ years ago in gear that should have sunk me like an anchor. To this day the only thing I can think of that allowed me to live another day was adrenaline. Although I still get out on the ice it's with caution leading the way and I always wear a float suit of some sort. Purchased a couple of Fladen one piece(available in a 2 PC) suits years ago. Ordered them from a website in the UK. Each suit was 75 British pounds and shipping was whatever but the final cost per suit was approx $240 Canadian. These suits are used for work on the high seas . They're lightweight, offer a full range of motion and reasonably warm. Good value for money . Still have the suit but have moved on to a Promax snowmobile suit with floatation. A set of coat and bibs will run you about $500 but along with the safety aspect of floatation they are designed for riding and therefore offer all the cold weather benefits as well.

  18. I have plenty of stories of watching Rocky Johnson wrestle during tapings of "Maple Leaf Wrestling" when they taped the show at the Channel 11, CHCH studio on King Street West in Hamilton in the 60's. He was one of the 1st black wrestlers and had a body like Mr. Universe back then. One of our favorites. I didn't know he was from Nova Scotia. If there were 30 people during those tapings it was a lot. All the future WWF superstars were there from Bruno Samartino , Abdula the Butcher, The Beast (who worked at Dofasco) Whipper Billy Watson, Billy Red Lyons and Ivan The Terrible Koloff to name just a few. Condolences to the family and his many fans around the World. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/rocky-johnson-curtis-bowles-johnson-1.5429494
