Joeytier Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Well, the only open water around here is the Ottawa riv, and with it still being at winter levels (about 10 feet down) it was a nice easy walk to where we suspected we'd find the fish. We fished from 10-1 with salties on the bottom and had a blast reeling in ling one after another while we kept the fire stoked and the mugs full. Was awesome to use a long rod again for the first time in too long and the fish fry tonight will be epic!
chris.brock Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 That sounds like a blast! Deep fried deliciousness too.

limeyangler Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 That does sound EPIC! Got me all wound up now, can't wait for some open water up here. YUMMY! Best cod and chips ever! Thanks for posting.
Rod Caster Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) That's one lean and long ling Edited April 21, 2015 by Rod Caster
Joeytier Posted April 21, 2015 Author Report Posted April 21, 2015 You parboil them first? These batch were done in a simple coating of fish crisp and fried in hot butter, but I also like cubing them and boiling in salt water and serving with garlic butter. Either way its fantastic. They're definitely smaller than the nipissing fatties
