Thornton squirted water from Boston's bench at Montreal defenceman P.K. Subban in the final minute of the game. No penalty was assessed on the play. The fine is the maximum allowed under the league's collective bargaining agreement with the NHL Players' Association and the money will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
