moosehead Posted April 2, 2007 Report Share Posted April 2, 2007 I am in the market for some rod holders for my new boat, main use will be for my dipsy rods. Has anyone used the scotty striker rod holders and are they strong enough for salmon fishing? I was going to go with the down east clamp ons but they will not fit my boat. I contacted Scotty and they said the striker would be the one in their line to be used for dipseys, but I'll be interested in what others have to say to your posting. Fishing muskies and pulling 14" lures puts a lot of pressure on your equipment, and the holders will stand up. express168 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Share Posted April 2, 2007 I have strikers on my boat, they stand up to the dipsys well but unfortunately I am new to the salmon fishing and am yet to experience the salmon strike but I think they should hold up just fine. Use them for pulling dipsey's for walleye on Erie and salmon on Ontario. Also use them to pull large muskie baits (plows) in the Fall. Haven't had an issues.
