  1. Thanks Fisherman, I stand corrected. I should have said that my Vessel Licence was issued in 1996. I contacted Transport Canada again by email regarding the need for me to renew my 1996 Vessel Licence and this is what they said: A vessel license that was issued in 1996 will not have an expiry date and does not have to be renewed unless: - You have made any changes to the vessel or - Your name or address has changed or - You have lost the license document If any of these three points above apply to you, you will have to apply to renew your license. Once you do that, it will only be valid for 10 years. So it appears that anyone in a similar position as me does not need to renew their Vessel Licence.
  2. My boat was registered back in 1996. At that time it was a one time deal. I just got off the phone with Transport Canada and they said that only those vessels registred AFTER May 12, 2010 need to have the licence renewed every 10 years. Those vessels registered before that date do not need to renew their licences.
  3. I have a 5 years old Sony XBR and it now has periodic flashes and negative white screen problems. Checking on the internet, many other people have similar or worse problems for this vintage XBR. It apparently is a soldering problem on one of the circuit boards. Since it is no longer under warranty, I'm outta luck unless I want to pay hundreds of dollars to fix it. I'm waiting for it to finally pack it in and then get something other than Sony. I'm partial to Samsung.
  4. Steelhedrmatt, I have a 50 HP Etec and have not experienced any problems like you have. As well, I can't advise you on your problem except to say that you may want to check out www.bbcboards.net. It is a US based board that deals with bass boats. There is a guy called Seahorse that moderates the Evinrude/Johnson (BRP) page that may be able to help you. There's another site (www.etecownersgroup.com) that may also be helpful.
  5. Scottys, been running them for over 10 years. The only problem I had was that the knob used to lock the boom extension in-place broke off. Called Scotty and they sent me a free replacement part. They also walked me through the steps on how to install the replacement part.
  6. A number of years back when our boys were small we were looking for the same thing. We found Scotsman Point Resort on Upper Buckhorn. Benn going there every since. However, the boys are all grown up now, so we may have to rethink our future plans. Scotsman have a daily kind program to keep the kids busy during the week while you are out search for muskie.
  7. I waited for the Lebaron's No Tax Sale to buy a couple of inflatables. At least that way you save 13%.
  8. The Lebaron coupon does say that photocopies not accepted, I assume therefore you must get one directly from Lebaron and not proint one out off their website. This this correct? BTW, doesn't Lebaron normally have a no tax sale at Sportsman Show time?
  9. I have a a pair of Scotty 1106s and have been running them for over 10 years. The only problem I had was, a couple of years ago, I broke the knob that hold the extended boom in place on one of the riggers. I contacted Scotty and they sent me a repair kit to fix it. The repair kit arrived in a couple of days and they did not charge me anything. This past year I started using a 13 lb torpedo on the rigger that has my Cannon speed and temp, in order to minimize blowback. The Scotty pulls it all up without any problems.
  10. I don't think you are too harsh and thanks for posting. We are looking at redoing our kitchen too and your experience has certainly given me some "food for thought" in my planning of our kitchen. I hope this works out for you.
  11. I recently tried using the kiosk near me and the touch screen did not respond to my touch, so I used the Service Ontario website instead, much easier. I just got my stickers in the mail, 2 days after I ordered them from Service Ontario.
  12. I was in the Lebaron's Markham store last week looking for Seaguar Fluorocarbon. They had 2 rolls. I asked if they had anymore and was told that they no longer carry Seaguar any more.
  13. Minn Kota motors are owned by Johnson Outdoors. Johnson Outdoors has an office in Burlington. You may want to give them a call. A few years ago I had a problem with my Cannon speed and temp that Johnson Outdoors also owns. I returned it to Minnesota before I found out about the Burlington office.
  14. Thanks for all the replies folks. From checking on another forum a guy named Seahorse says that the etec, properly setup, should troll all day without any fouling of plugs. He says the problem is caused because the engine isn't maintaining proper temperature and therefore the computer adds more gas to compensate causing fouling. There are a few things that need to be checked including calibrating the TPS sensor with the computer. The motor is under warranty and I have taken it back to the dealer to fix. I have also passed on Seahorse's comments to them to help them. I like the idea of a kicker for Lake O trolling and am currently leaning in that direction. I'm looking at a 5 HP mercury for that purpose.
  15. I'm thinking of repowering my 16' Princecraft. I do a lot of trolling for salmon on Lake O and it seems that this trolling causes a lot of plug fouling on my etec. I'm wondering if a 4 stroke would be a better choice.
