LucG Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I'm using 10 lbs braided line and was wondering what would be the best knot to use to attach a 6 lbs flurocarbon leader. Thanks

NAW Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I use double uni to for my fluro leaders. Same set up too, 10 lb test w/6 lb leader. It's quick, and stong. Never failed me.
Bernie66 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Double uni with a dab of dollar store superglue for insurance.
bigfish1965 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I use a swivel...the flouro can't stand much rotation.
bassman87 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Just kidding I use what I believe is called a Surgeon's knot.
Garnet Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Triple Surgeons knot quick and easy. Garnet
Jet Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Anyone here have experience with the albright knot vs double uni when attaching smaller diameter braid to larger diameter mono leader? I ask because most fishing sites I've checked recommend the Albright.
LucG Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 Triple Surgeons knot quick and easy. Garnet The surgeon knot is very quick, I love it, but will it hold just as well as the double uni?
Kinger Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 When I attach mono to power pro, I use the albright knot.
bassjnkie Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 The surgeon knot is very quick, I love it, but will it hold just as well as the double uni? I use the triple surgeons knot for my shock leader to braid, fishing for carp. I've landed 30's with the knot.
hoot33 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 braid polomar knot to barrel swivel clinch knot fluro to swivel polomar knot hook
Radnine Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I use a swivel...the flouro can't stand much rotation. braid polomar knot to barrel swivel clinch knot fluro to swivel polomar knot hook Me too!! Jim
hooksetgod Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Double cinch clasp tie works well. Just remember the second loose slip must be pulled east to west,(right to left).
JPD Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 With the smaller diameter lines the uni to uni is one of the best. I have been using the Duncan Loop on the braid end to a Perfection loop on the fluoro end and then join them loop to loop. Haven't broken it yet and it spreads the bulk of the knot over 3 sections making them smaller and flow through the guides easier. Best part is when you re-tie because your leader gets short all you have to do is the Perfection loop which takes 3 seconds!
bicephalic Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Double uni for me - so far so good! Wish I had bothered with a leader Monday night...snagged up on the upper niagara drifting and chewed off atleast 50yards of power pro before i could get my spool locked enough to snap it off :S The uni held up nice after that - snapped the 15lb fluoro leader well before the knot.
CLofchik Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Anyone here have experience with the albright knot vs double uni when attaching smaller diameter braid to larger diameter mono leader? I ask because most fishing sites I've checked recommend the Albright. +1 for the Albright, especially for stiffer flouro 15lb.+ Takes a small amount of practice to get it right but it's just as strong as the Uni that's alot easier to tie.
