  5. Its a 50 dollar glass rod. Pick it up and feel the action. Then pick up the 40 dollar eagle claw and take what you like best for the money. I always hated that yellow sticking up behind the salmon trollers though...maybe if it was green or brown

  14. This would be fine except that everybody in southern Ontario is scared of guns so they have to hire their killing out. They are all against hunting so they go to the butcher store for meat. Kinda makes them not responsible since the animal was already dead.
  15. It was time I got out Wayne...and I just called it spec fishing...actually splake
  16. I finally got out fishing. It was a free weekend and I hadn't bought my license yet...do I get one or do I just stick with the Conservation limit. Lemme tell you. It was cold. The weather forecast said -24 in the morning and a high of -15 with 15k winds. Got up at 5 and it was -16. Not too bad. Left the trading post at 6:15 and headed north. When we left the truck it was -21 and windy. Got to the lake and for some reason I stopped at the spot we generally fish instead of looking for a sheltered spot....bad idea. We had a hut but I can't fish specs from a hut. I need to be out watching my lines. I was a bit concerned about slush what with last weeks reports but I had nothing to worry about. We had 2' of SOLID ice with just a dusting of snow on top to keep the sliders happy. I picked up my first fish before the 2 guys I went with even had camp set up and a line down. I hate getting a fish that fast because too many times it turns out to be the only one of the day. Picked up my second a couple hours later. Then Dwayne finally got one. That was it...we called it a day at 3...just too cold and slow fishing to stay any longer. My 2 They were full of perch minnows. I'll be going back there in a few weeks to give it a warmer try.
  17. That title just sounds soooo yummy
  18. Things I have learned about having a hut over the years. 1. wrap your skis with crazy carpet. Roofing nails or a strip of 1x2 high on the skis to attach it. It slides really nice and pops out of the ice a lot easier than just bare wood. A few raps with an axe do a lot to break it free. 2. Chainsaw for cutting ice when its in deep. Chipping is a lot of work and ice really won't hurt a saw. 3. Keep it tied down and blocked up...I would much rather sacrifice a bunch of 4x4 blocks than spend 3 hours chipping. A couple of posts into the ice will stop it from blowing away on you. When you move cut them flush or below the ice with the chainsaw. 4. You really have to go there every weekend for proper maintenance. I just don't have the time or don't want to fish the same spot every time I go so I skip the hut now. I know...I'm rambling but I'm burnt out from yesterdays trip
  19. You need a passport Anders. Hows the ice up there...I'm likely heading that way on Monday for some splake
  20. hey, the country is flat busted and overspent like crazy. They gotta do whatever they can to not have to pay for it themselves

  23. That was my point...all the liberals stopped him...and the NDP.....but it was a weak attempt anyway.
  24. Like when he promised to get rid of the gun registry and then didn't
  25. I got pulled over for not signaling. There was no traffic to affect. The cop that pulled me over was in a parking lot so I wasn't affecting him. He saw my point and let me go. The only reason I knew this is because another cop had told me about the signaling law previously. If you are in a left turn lane and turning and there are vehicles coming toward you, they gotta know you plan on turning in front of them. They don't know you aren't from out of town and don't know what lane to be in. Laws are written ambiguously so that its easier to charge and convict. Read a few tax laws and see how easy it is for them to stick it to you
