its a fuel problem and the board wouldn't let me do all the multi quotes I had planned
-
Gotta love family vacations...thanks for the report

Wouldn't want to be caught in the middle of a hundred acre field when that hit

a better link http://www.campanjigami.com/gallery/lodge/index.php?gazpart=show&gazgal=15 you want the lodge/bunkhouse the only web site I have seen where the pictures don't do the place justice. Fishing could be better but the lodge is to die for

You seem to be all for the "wilderness experience" and I'm with you on that. the canoe trips are a true wilderness experience. you know that, you have been on enough of them. I'm all for protecting the wilderness as well. thats why we have LSSP and Algonquin. True wilderness experience parks. No motorized transport whatsoever. Not, no motorized transport except for airplanes. No motorized travel. I would be all for a few more provincial parks with no motorized travel. problem is, they are setting aside areas for special groups. These groups just want a special experience for themselves. They are willing to pay big bucks to get away from crowds. Well I don't think the Government should set aside public land for special groups. local taxpaying citizens have been using many of these areas for years and all of a sudden they are not allowed access any more. I really don't get it. They really aren't talking about a lot of the flyin lakes either. Locals don't bother with the flyin lakes a lot. There are way better places with lots less fishing pressure. These are other lakes they have fished for years. We are being restricted from using a lot of our land and i just can't see the reasoning behind it. If it was to protect fishing they could change the rules and just close certain lakes on a rotating basis. These guys have a plan and the little guy isn't included in it...kinda scary

You're right....the best 10% should be set aside for the rich and priveledged...they are special people and deserve it.
-
I just can't buy the whole environmental wilderness thing when the same crew wants to decimate the shores and water of Lake Superior with windmills.
-
I really can't understand why you think restricting access to public land is a good thing
-
And that my friend is how the outfitters should have to access the lakes too
-
So you trek all over northern Ontario but you live in the south. You can't understand from down there...same as the rule maker can't understand from down there. They got a bunch of whineing outfitters on their case when they screwed up on the spring bear hunt and have been trying to appease them ever since. To cover it they are restricting access to many places. As Dr said, they are ripping culverts out on 38 road and McDonald creek road and closing it. There isn't a fly in lake or outfitter lake within 100 miles of that area. Actually it is mostly ACR land of which the ACR was handed 100 years ago to build a railway. That was all free range land with ACR leases for cabins till 10 years ago when they sold off a few hundred thousand acres and it has now been all but closed to public access and the people driven from their cabins. The Ontario government is making a mess of the north because of a few special interest groups. Many industries have been decimated by progress and many by government intervention as well. We don't care that the outfitters have the best lakes....we want unrestricted access to ALL public land, otherwise, it isn't public land...it is private. There is no difference between accessing a lake by ATV, train, truck or plane...you don't pedal a plane...they have motors too. The difference is some people think that the good lakes should be either difficult or expensive. And, if the MNR wanted to boost tourism they wouldn't send the cops sneaking in to a lake to harrass the people paying big bucks to use it. I know 8 German tourists that were shown by a CO that when you measure a walleye you gotta squeeze the tail to get an extra quater inch out of it and that my dear tourist is gonna cost you a hundred and fifty bucks on thop of the 5 hundred you already spent on licences at this lodge you just paid a thousand dollars to stay at this weekend
-
None of us have ever complained about access to 'fly in lakes" we are complaining about newly restricted access to lakes and roads we have used for years If you want to restrict access and relieve pressure on lakes, make non-residents be required to use an outfitter to use our land...it wouldn'r be the first province to do it
-
I liked Rae days....they cut back on public service costs
-
I can get air dried black ash up here and I have a pile of air dried red oak that I cut and dried myself for furniture. We have a yard that sells ash strips 16 and 18 feet long for gunwales but they are pretty proud of them.
-
I think a more common wood for canoe gunwales would be white ash
-
I could see a lot of this if it was really for conservation. But when its just blatant disregard for common taxpayers in favour of special interest and user groups to turn a buck....well, thankyou mr McGuinty
-
No different than Canada
-
It has nothing to do with conservation and protection. If it was then they would outlaw aircraft access as well. it is totally to protect the flyin camps. People in the north have limited recreation available. Therefore they fish and enjoy the outdoors. They are having their recreation land taken away from them so tourist operators can make a buck. Like I saidrestrict access to simcoe and rice before you before you limit northerners access Educate yourself on life in the north before you make laws to control it
-
If they do one in Wawa I will be there...there are a few good lakes up that way I want to fish yet
-
Just think of the money land owners will be able to make....just like the outfitters...more taxes to be paid
-
we should all be joining in this one. http://www.thedailypress.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3233363
