  1. imagine how the truckers feel. my dads truck takes 300 gallons with 5-6mpg
  2. fry em up with some butter and salt.
  3. anyone wanna rent a tanker and take a trip
  4. hunting IS about being fair to the animal and showing them respect by ensuring a quick and clean kill. thats not hunting, its shooting. hunting involves using skill, wind, scents, calls, decoys, etc to get a shot off. too many variables for shots that long to be humane as a slight breeze could cause a wounded animal. it could wander off and die somewhere and possibly be recovered or survive from the wound. any hunter with respect for their quarry wont attempt shots like that. its funny how you never see the videos of people taking shots like this and only wounding the critters or they simply end the video before you see the animal keep running...
  5. those who breast them out are too lazy to be bothered and are wasting good meat. it is definitely NOT the normal thing to do for turkey. it doesnt take that long to pluck a bird...especially since you can only take 2 per year. its not like the goose hunting groups that come home with 40 birds from one hunt. pluck and deep fry in peanut oil :thumbsup_anim:
  6. i want in ill give it a shot on the grand for mr pike
  7. tell you what i know about them? they are fun to catch and taste great
  8. heres kiilo, 5 month old yellow lab. ella, our manx who has a dog like personality. comes to her name, sits pretty and sits for treats. hangs out the car window like a dog. she has half a tail and its jointed halfway to the end. she was born like that... and nikita, my 5 year old lab x collie my parents wouldnt let me take when i moved out
  9. -rent a small blaster -wipe everything down with acetone to remove any dust/grease -primer -2 coats of finish paint job will last forever i wonder how much it would cost to get rhino liner or something sprayed on the trailer? youd never have to worry about it again...
  10. actually, they can and will spray in a trap. my grandfather has been sprayed a couple times by skunks he caught with a large live trap rated for coons to bobcats and he actually puked after getting a direct hit to the chest. says his vision was blurred for 10 minutes or so. a couple that i released sprayed before i went in the yard to take them away and ive also heard some funny stories from people over the years so yes, they will spray in a trap. maybe the majority wont, but saying they wont spray in a trap is untrue.
  11. im guessing this was meant as a funny but for those who dont know... if you happen to catch a skunk just make a little bit of noise to get its attention so you dont startle it and it knows you are coming. hold a blanket in front of you and slowly lay the blanket over the cage and you should be fine. ive caught 4 or 5 skunks over the years and havent been sprayed yet and i walked each of them about 4-5 blocks away to release them.
  12. exactly!
  13. not to hijack the thread, but what could possibly happen if someone renovated a whole house without permits?
  14. "the footings gave way" ive been doing concrete for over 4 years on residential and commercial job sites and i have never seen this happen where the footings and foundations were done properly. pm me and let me know how you prepped and poured the concrete and ill let ya know what went wrong there. as to figuring the rest of it out. ive had customers tell me how they want things done to save money or make things look "better" in their eyes. when things like that happen i just tell them i wont do the job unless its done properly which will cost you X amount of dollars. if you arent willing to pay to have it done properly, find someone else as i dont do shoddy work. ive done 12 jobs on my own and not once has a person not given me the job when i told them this (even though its only happened 3 times so far). sometimes even when you do things properly things happen. 2 years ago i did a sidewalk leading from the porch to the driveway. i prepped the base properly, went overkill with everything, and made control cuts at all the proper spots yet it still cracked in 2 spots customer said he wanted the whole thing replaced and i told him id do it if he paid for everything including labor. told me i was being ridiculous and that it was my job and it was my problem. he called over his engineer buddy and we went over how i did everything and his buddy said i did it all right but sometimes things just happen and it wasnt my fault. so i filled in the cracks (hairline) and fixed their driveway for free and got 4 or 5 more jobs out of that one.
  15. CIL makes a latex paint that has teflon in it. i used it on all my baseboards, crown molding, door jams, etc and it is easy to clean just like oil paint. my grandfather had been a professional painter since the days before rollers were even invented and he swears by oil for its durability and how easy it is to clean. but then my uncle who has been painting new homes for over 15 years swear by premium CIL latex paints. i think good latex paints are just as good as oil for durability and ease of cleaning. another thing most people dont know about is recycled paint called boomerang which can be purchased at turkstra lumber. checkout their website to see how its manufactured. at $13.99 per gallon it sure caught my eye. i used it in my whole house (except the bathroom) and i am very happy with it. very easy to apply, covers very well, very durable, and super easy to clean. there arent many colors but it sure saves you quite a bit of money so its worth taking a look at. oh ya...dont buy cheap rollers or brushes and just tape all edges for cutting in. remove the tape when the paint is WET to prevent peeling. the ceiling paint that goes on pink and dries white is great for ceilings to make sure you dont miss any spots. and add a contrast wall in your living room, bedroom, etc to make it look puuuuurdy
  16. want me to post a video of my ball python eating a live rat?
  17. it would be cool to have a "hot" as a pet. right now i just have a ball python but want to start a nice collection. definitely wouldnt go hungry as i breed my own mice and rats my dad and his buddies saw one by wasaga beach one year when they were fishing. i have yet to see one in the wild but cant wait until i finally do.
  18. i remember when i was a kid my dad had a fishing magazine with an article about catching giant trout using dead squirrels as bait. i thought they were lake trout or something but i guess this must have been the same kind of fish in that article. this was 10 years ago or more...
  19. ive tried the maggots and earthworms when ice fishing for perch, bluegill and crappie. i can count how many fish ive caught with them on 1 hand. when watching them on the aqua vu they get close to the bait for a smell but slowly back away. but they had no problem smashing other baits. 3 different water bodies... maybe they work good for other species or maybe i just had a couple bad batches but i wont be buying it again
  20. you are allowed to bag 2 birds each season but not on the same day. i believe this is the first year they will be offering a fall hunt for turkey so im not sure how its going to work. ive been hunting them for 6 years or so and have bagged one each season. get yourself a good waterproof box call and some diaphragm calls and just practices while you are sitting watching tv or something. it will drive your family nuts but they will forgive you when they are eating a nice juicy turkey that was deep fried in peanut oil with a crossbow that is as accurate as mine (excalibur exomax) it isnt too difficult to hit small targets. just ask the many rabbits and squirrels ive taken out to 40 yards with headshots...lol. when bowhunting turkey you should use a zwickey grappler or similar to keep the arrow in the bird to make it difficult for them to fly. you will get light blood trail from an arrow, not a shotgun. if you have some buddies who are turkey hunting as well, get each to buy a different type of shell so you guys can trade shells to see what patterns best in each persons gun. load A may pattern nice and tight in your gun but have a pattern full of holes in your buddies gun. the same can sometimes be said for the same year and model of shotgun...
  21. my first year out i bagged a 20lb, 10" beard and 1 1/4" spurs it isnt that difficult if you are use to hunting game where stealth and calling is critical. when a tom is on fire you could probably just yell "get over here" and he will gobble and waltz right in to any have decent yelping and purring. but then there are the days where you cant even get a gobble outta one and you work all day just to see squirrels jumping around. thats what makes it hunting, not shooting. this year i plan on using my 12 gauge for the first bird just to get some meat and my crossbow for a big ol tom.
  22. thats your opinion. my opinion is there are regs put in place (along with exceptions for different water bodies) and as long as people follow those regs then there shouldnt be a problem. but yet people still feel the need to insult those who choose to keep a legal fish. the way that come people cry about someone killing a musky makes it seem like they think a fish is human or something. get a grip people... some people just dont get it
  23. so for that reason it is acceptable to bash someone? no, it isnt. bashing someone who is breaking the law is cool and id be right there beside you. but targeting people who decide to eat a musky is sad. promoting conservation is one thing, but forcing your believes and practices on others isnt my cup of tea. but i guess its comparable to the crap we here from elite steel headers, carp fanatics, P3TA, etc
  24. im aware of this, but the problem is some of them become a little too obsessed with musky and bash others who are 100% legal with their belittling comments. if i were to start a thread with pics of me filleting a musky it would likely get locked as a result of all the musky worshipers who would complain to admins. it just strikes a nerve when people complain about others who are following the regs...
  25. its a fish. a musky isnt any better than a pike and people spear them all the time...get over it. that was some cool footage of spear fishing
