so can you please inform me why a picture of a fish on a fishing website is offensive? and here i thought we are suppose to use this site to share our fishing stories and pics. i guess its alright as long as it doesnt involve a dead muskie
-
exactly! a muskie dies and people get their panties all twisted up. its only a fish why was the pic removed?

right on man my future kids will own paintball guns after they respect firearms. also, they will not turn out to be liberals or they will be disowned it is 100% safe to keep firearms in your house if you store them properly. accidents happen when adults are careless and leave their firearms in their closet or under the bed with no trigger lock and accesible ammo.

about 15-20 years ago my dad landed a 125+lb sturgeon on 17lb mono while fishing for bows in the nottawasaga river. i believe it was over 5'5....ill have to get the newspaper clipping out sometime and find out. i forget how long it fought for but he said it was awesome in the river. i think he also has pics of a bunch of big females in a pool. i guess he was up on a cliff so it was easy to see them. i hope i can still find these pics...

by the time a trophy animal has become a trophy, he has spread his genes quite a bit when it comes to deer, most trophy bucks are taken during the rut after they've likely bred a few does before you get to see him...

- use low shrinkage mud and patch the hole - wait until the next day and put a skim coat over it to make it flush - lightly sand with 180grit or wet sand with a sponge - apply a light coat of primer the next day on ALL mud or the new paint will go "dead" and wont match - wait for it to dry completely then use a brush to put a very light coat of paint. let this dry a little - use a roller to apply final coat of paint on the touch up so the end texture matches the rest of the wall i just finished painting my whole house after redoing all of the drywall. ive done a lot of touch ups so far and this method is the best and the repair is invisible. i used the same method on painted walls that were 5-6 months old and had perfect results so you should be ok. likely a different story if there is smoking in your house though...

the MNR alway denies a population of cougars in ontario. i have no clue why they do this but it really doesnt make sense. there have been too many sightings to deny the fact that there is a population. nobody has any clue how many there are because these critters are so elusive and its likely extremely difficult to get an estimate of how many there are in ontario.

the so called "experts" say the black ones are escaped pets eh. i guess they arent intelligent enough to figure out that theres something called melanism which causes fur/feathers to go all black instead of the normal color. although its rare, i dont see why people should automatically assume that the black cougars are pets that were released....

holy cow guys take a pill. you make it seem like the great lakes are going to magically disappear one day. in the article it states that a few asian carp were found before the ban a few years ago. the fishing is still great and the carp have been found before so i dont see why one more caught a few years later would be so alarming. for all the know it could have been released into the lake before the ban was placed on them. all of the great lakes are huge so the chances of catching a released fish isnt very high. "Cudmore said a few isolated Asian carp have been found in the Great Lakes -- but, significantly, none since the province banned the sale of live Asian carp a few years ago."
-
ive also been debating heading west for a few years. rent out my house and kick the tenants out when i come back so ill have a nice chunk of change in my bank and almost no mortgage at all. tell him to get out of this hurtin province while he can. alot less liberals out there

not to hijack but its related to roofing... what type of roofing should i use on a roof that barely has any slope. i believe its 22ft long, 12ft wide with a 8" slope or so im guessing. i raised the one side 18" so now there is barely any slope at all but before it just had normal shingles.

if you listen to what the banana scientists have to say about everything we'd be drinking nothing but water and eating nothing but plain rice.... seems like everything will kill us, so we might as well enjoy it while be can.
-
bahahaha! "the water is mercuryer" "see that 6-8? thats how you release a fish" great job guys. now if i could only get my old outboard running....
-
if im really tired and dont feel like cleaning fish, they stay there. but this doesnt happen too often so i usually bring some home for a meal. bass, catfish, panfish, pike, pickeral, trout, salmon, smelt, and the list goes on. muskie is pretty good too yet everyone says it tastes bad?

just read this over at a gun site and thought some of you may be just as angry as we are over there. this is downright pathetic.... http://www.torontosun.com/News/Colum...72292-sun.html Joe WarmingtonTue, June 19, 2007 City order burns troops Pulling fire, ambulance ribbons is wrong By JOE WARMINGTON Our brave troops will still be fighting in Afghanistan this September even if the magnetic ribbon support decals on Toronto Fire trucks and ambulances won't be. The city has ordered the Support Our Troop decals to be removed from all fire trucks and EMS vehicles on Sept. 4, the Sun has learned. The reason? It depends on who you talk to. And there are lots of contradictions. Some say it is because it was not brought to council for proper approval, others say protocol was not followed. Another reason given is it was a one-year project. But many City Hall sources tell me it has everything to do with some complaints from a few anti-war citizens who have the ear of some leftist councillors -- and felt the ribbons were in support of the war in Afghanistan and not just in support of the troops. 'IN CONVERSATIONS' "It was a decision I made in conversations I had with the two chiefs," said city manager Shirley Hoy, who was good enough to return a call yesterday on this and own up. Several members of council did not extend the courtesy. Having said that, Hoy, though, still attempted to dance around this by saying it was a "one-year support program" and that the decision was made to remove the decals when the vehicles were scheduled for "regular maintenance." Surely, Shirley, every vehicle is not going in on the same day for repairs? Later she admitted the support ribbons did not meet "certain corporate standards" for the city. Maybe we can arrange to give the troops over there some parking tickets and send over a bylaw officer to make sure they are complying with the smoking rules? Corporate standards! What the hell are they talking about? The whole thing is outrageous but at least now we are on to what this is really all about. They should just say it. This is the politically correct leftist crowd getting their way -- at the expense of our amazing troops in the battle of their lives. This has got to be a moral victory for the Taliban. The guys really on the spot here are Fire Chief Bill Stewart and Ambulance Chief Bill Farr. Two very good guys who essentially answer to council and to senior administration and have their hands tied. Also, there is no way the paramedics and firefighters in this town would approve. I know many and their respect for the troops is unwavering. While Chief Stewart said the decals "did not meet corporate standards ... and the corporate policy must be adhered to," decals or no decals he also emphasized "we certainly support the Canadian troops." He said firefighters have had fundraisers and other initiatives to show that. If they do, no political pressure from some leftist anti-war activist should be able to stop that. Shame on anybody who is messing with that. Like it or not, this country is at war and it's imperative we support the men and women doing the heavy lifting every chance we get. Hoy told me the decals were put on a year ago and were to be removed at the end of one year. No one else indicated this was the plan. If it was, it would be unprecedented in Canadian military history. Imagine if they'd put up yellow ribbons during World War II for just the year 1942? There is at least one veteran upset about this. "I can guarantee that no one on city council has ever served in the Armed Forces but they are always eager to jump to the front of the line when a Forces photo opportunity comes along and shout that they support the troops," said Don Ashfield. "City council can vote approval to bump their pay, pad their expense accounts and attend many meetings where free food is given, but Support Our Troops? Never." A spokesman in the mayor's office said he "didn't know anything about this." Same goes for several other councillors -- all of whom did not return calls. Yeah, sure! Scott Marks, president of the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association, said the reaction of members ranges from some who are not too worked up to others who are outraged. It was the association who designed and paid for the decals on the fire trucks -- the EMS ones were paid for with taxpayers' money. More than a month ago pressure was brought to bear by Now magazine, which quoted specifically Councillor Janet Davis. "I do connect the Afghan mission to the Support Our Troops sticker. That is where our troops are being killed," she told Now reporter Andrew Cash in May. "Not only does this not communicate a City of Toronto policy, but it also sends a political message about a public policy matter that is quite contentious. And we shouldn't be using public funds for it." 'A POLITICAL MESSAGE' But if we are going to be by the book about public money at City Hall, let's not start at the expense of the at-risk troops -- 57 of whom have died in battle. This is not the issue to try to show corporate precision and integrity. Try doing it when you are quietly voting yourselves an 11% raise. Whatever you think of this, a decision has been made to have those decals removed. "I think it's crazy," said one firefighter. "We sent over a video to the troops to show them these ribbons on the trucks. I hope they know we still support them." Perhaps this is not over yet. It's actually up to you. This might be a time for us to collectively speak up. If there is public reaction against this nonsense, maybe we can turn this around and they will leave those decals right where they are -- and leave them there until every member of our Canadian Armed Forces is back from this conflict and not a moment before. Our troops will still be fighting in Afghanistan in September and if we make enough noise perhaps those decals supporting them will remain on the side of our municipal emergency vehicles. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • You can call Joe Warmington at (416) 947-2392 or e-mail at [email protected]

Scugog Carp Dying By The Thousands Massive Clean Up
ch312 replied to dsn's topic in General Discussion
you guys that dont care about all the carp dying should give your heads a shake. we shouldnt just turn the other way because they are considered a pest by many. we should be concerned because this could possibly happen to any other species in the future and we need to find out what caused it and if we can prevent it from happening again. ive seen carp living in some pretty nasty water so i doubt its from the weeds or lack of oxygen. id guess that the lady at the boat rental place was correct about it being a virus of some sort. maybe some angry fisherman bought some carp poison from the black market and took matters into his own hands! -
i think that rockbass put up a huge fight for their small size. now imagine if they grew to 15-20lbs. not THAT would be one hell of a fight

was just browsing the fishing lake simcoe site and buddy posted a pic of this thing. i thought it was a nice smallie until i made the pic bigger and saw what it was whats the ontario record? http://www.lakesimcoemessageboard.com/inde...;id_dbase=65461

topo maps and go for a few walks. the stream i goto thats 15 minutes away from brantford is small enough to jump over in most places yet ive caught a bunch of 10-12" brookies out of it they are around but i wont even tell my friends where they are
-
i put that stuff in my truck that only had 40,000kms on it and it still smoked like crazy and left a nice black stain on the sidewalk by the exhaust. cured the idling problem and made it run better. if you add it to your oil, dont drive your vehicle for too long before an oil change as it breaks down oil. you shouldnt use it very often either as using it too much can be bad for any rubber that it may come into contact with. and yes it is available from many places in canada. i think i paid 8 bucks for a can from "shermans" in brantford. i believe it says on the can that its great for boat motors as well.

i was just checkin it out and its an evinrude eastwin. doesnt say how many horse but i believe its 18. ill admit i didnt even take the cover off when i was playing with it before but i wish i did cuz its missing a spark plug . i checked for spark and it doesnt spark with every pull but when it does theres a very strong spark. hopefully it just needs new plugs and thats it. does it matter what spark plug wire goes where? theres a top and bottom. it has the starting instructions on the front of the cover but its worn off . to get it started, where should i set the throttle? theres 2 different dials for "high speed" and "low speed" should these be set at rich or lean to get it going? where should i keep them all the time? what gas mix should i use? under the cover looks like brand new so hopefully theres nothing wrong with it. do i need to put it in a garbage can full of water or something when i get it running or will it be ok to run it on the stand?

well, im in a dilly of a pickle here. i was given a late 70's johnson 18hp outboard for my boat but it wont start. my dad gave it to me and said "if you want this, you have to know how to fix it incase it dies on the water" so he isnt going to help me out at all. i guess it makes sense... ill post whatever details and a pic today sometime but i figured id get a headstart because im assuming that all outboards are generally the same so theres likely some general things to try?

i have a 12 or 14 foot aluminum boat thats likely going to have an old 18hp outboard on it for now. what do i need to have in the boat so i dont get into any trouble if i get stopped? im hoping to get it out next weekend to see if the outboard is up to par before hitting long point.
