  1. Another great report Steve! You really know that area. Nice Simcoe walleye. My PB walleye(16 lbs) came from Simcoe ice around Beaverton,(15 yrs. ago) when the season was open until Mar 31 st. There are some brute walleyes in Simcoe, saw many coming off the ice in 15-20 lb. range. Football walleyes.. um 'pickies'.
  2. Friday looks like a good day weather wise, bet you will get some 'skis. Good Luck
  3. That is a great looking a sizeable brown! Wondering if that is resident or caught in lower river by big lake?
  4. Was up there Saturday as well and didn't get a sniff, buddy got a big walleye though and had a few muskies on. Looks like a great day for nice muskies pour vous.
  5. Carp on a float setup, sounds like a decent fight was had Pretty muddy looking from the rain, that didn't stop ya from trooping there.
  6. Canal Lake has only pike now. Balsam Lake and Kawartha lakes eastward have good musky fishing. Try a jointed perch pattern bait like a J-13 or larger. Make sure you have proper equipment for landing and releasing and have a good time.
  7. Great place to live if your into fishing Going to a trib and catching big coaster brookies, fresh coho's, bows and seeing bald eagles sounds awesome to me. Thanks for posting
  8. Great photos again! Like the seagull one. Nice, a day with the musky master
  9. For comparison, This was a 30" walleye i pulled from Pigeon 15 yrs ago. Weighed 9.75 lbs. It died during the fight, so kept it and my father ate it. Dudes fish had a way bigger head and wider body and obviously was bigger. Good times, good times
  10. This was a totally win, win day despite the cold front bringing the chill. Had a 40 inch+ musky clear water beside the boat and a 10 lb Kawartha walleye in the boat. Unforgettable
  11. Amazing that such a beauty fish can be caught so close to Canadas biggest city. Great report! Nice getting your father out there.
  12. Yes, Dave needs to pay attention to how much line he lets out when trolling. Turms out he was inches from mono backing when fish hit. Fish was good size, the mono was no match. That was one of the biggest eyes i have seen up that way in 25 yrs of hitting Pigeon. Picture doesn't do it justice. Despite not getting a bite, i had a great day just being there.
  13. Went out for my fifth day fishing this season, so anyday out is awesome whether fish are caught or not. Planned to catch fish however so a trolling for muskies we went. The fishing wasn't on fire thats for sure but a great day was had with primo 'gweeches, snacks, liquids and top shelf Cuban cigars. This sign reminded us of the possibility of further development in the future, They have been talking of this for over 30yrs, nothing is happening though. There was very little activity on the lake in the cold today. Dave had a musky hit is jointed perch Leo Lure, not a bad fish. As he was leading it towards the cradle, the fish jumped clear out of water and threw the 12 inch lure back at us. Probably went 40" or so, quite exciting still. Buddy had a couple more fish on briefly, the last one took all his line and lure. We were trolling across deepest part of lake basin and Dave ended up getting to his mono backing on reel when fish hit. A few moments later line snapped. That was the end of muskies for the day. Definitely was chilly and became colder as the afternoon quickly was becoming evening. Started to try jigging for walleyes on deep rocky bumps. Got this rock bass in 30 ft of water, going deep for the fall. First fish in the boat. The day sure is going by fast. Luckily Dave caught this walleye in same spot, before the day was done. The fish measured at 29.5 inches and had a real big skull. Put it back in quickly to continue future generations. Had a great day fishing again even though i caught nothing myself!
  14. That is very important to point out that the size limit is 44" for musky on Zone 17(Kawarthas) this year. Also the season is extended to Dec. 15th for musky and bass as well. One walleye with conservation license between 35-50 cm, 4 with a sport license. Walleye closes on Nov. 15th.
  15. You should get out fishing with Fidel, he will put you on fish and set things straight. Grant(SNAG) is MIA, too bad.
  16. A beautiful report! Nicely done.
  17. Honey mushrooms are like N. American shitakkes. Very fine edibles! Many, many excellent mushrooms to be found with a little research. Chantrelles are abundant and found in the early fall. Also Black Trumpets, Ceps, Sweet Tooth, Blewit and on and on this time of year.
  18. Must be nice to get out fishing with those fishing icons. Congrats to you and your brother. Whoever measured those fish musta been generous seeing they were firsts. Nice spotted muskies!
  19. HaHa, that's my musky fishing stompin grounds, wasn't there this weekend but would have helped if was around. Hopefully they became edumacated about these things now. At least you helped them out.
  20. Those are real nice fish and to catch these bruisers in such close time makes it more remarkable. Most folks are just helping by making you aware of some things in the future.
  21. What an amazing trip! That 45+ inch pike has a huge head and one of biggest pike have seen posted here. Nice bunch of walleyes as well. Definitely a bucket list trip.
  22. Those are nice big walleye. The Canadian record walleye was caught in the Niagara at 22lbs 4 ounces many years ago, a salmon troller accidently snagged one in 1987 at 25 lbs. A world record might be there, maybe you can catch it
  23. Looks like you made the right choice Raf, being familiar with the vehicle should help in most ways. Went for a ride in a Subaru Forester turbo recently(towing trailer) it was pretty solid as well. Keep fishing dude
