  1. Like the picture Lew Getting poor reviews on the pike here was hoping for better. I might still try there one day. Thanks for PM's as well. Cheers, Erik
  2. Thanks for the replies thus far and PM's. FMZ 17 eh? Pike and panfish all year then. Have to give it a try. Hoping for pike.
  3. Great report The driving and snowmobiling looks scary though.
  4. Thought about fishing here for last 20 yrs. or so. Thinking this year might try pike or panfish early in season but don't have fishing regulations book and can't download PDF files so don't know if it is FMZ 17 or what. Anyone know? Anyone try fishing there? Looking on Google Earth i can't see any roads on south side. Is there a launch there or do you have to go to north side? Really want to try here if it is easy to launch. Apparently even the odd musky here Thanks in advance.
  5. Incredible stuff from 44 yrs. ago. Never to be duplicated. Is it still raining? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2y-NeT2m0w Lets the guitar do the talking.
  6. Steelie through the ice! Well done.
  7. Your daughter will pull through this! It sounds pretty tough but she has a chain of strength and support to pull her through. Have had to go to walkers and forearm canes myself due to MS. Think of you and your daughters plight to create a positive vision. Surely your strength of character is carried within her.
  8. Born in Montreal and raised as a Hab fan here but i don't think Chara was making an effort to injure. Wow, are people ever getting riled up here.
  9. Wow! Everything about this report is top notch. The camera work, the fish, the comments, the cooking...etc. Haven't heard of vongole sauce since i worked in hotel kitchen. Very well executed Thanks for the effort.
  10. I swear by RattlinRaps for fishing multispecies out of warm water discharges in midwinter. Almost use them exclusively there. On a windy day this past summer tried slow trolling RattlinRaps along 10 ft. break and hammered smallmouth by surprise. They are now part of my bass chucking arsenal. A Badonk-a-Donk is purely a topwater not a lipless crankbait.
  11. Aaron, very few people fish this spot mid-winter but i do so this is interesting to me. Have caught lots of big oddly timed fish there mid winter like chinook, pike, and the walleye in my avatar. The possibility of a big wiper increases the excitement. Searched the stocking records for striper/wiper in Great Lakes but found nothing. http://www.glfc.org/fishstocking/exactsearch.htm Kind of mysterious this catch as well. Thanks for bringing it to attention.
  12. They are real nice looking lures. Definitely going get the (walking) Frog for bass this summer. http://www.livetargetlures.com/products/index.php
  13. Well that explains it, i guess. Every other species seems to bite the dust. Lakers are the deep water evolutionary specialists. Thanks for quick reply
  14. Where did the wiper come from? Do some states stock them in the Great Lakes?
  15. I never fish for lakers or whitefish but was curious about pulling them out of the depths and releasing them afterward. In the fall fish go deep in the Kawarthas and i find myself jigging walleye in 45 foot plus water. More often than not whatever i catch has air bladder issues, whether it is a walleye, perch, rock bass, carp, etc... With new regulations limiting catch and keep of walleye on Kawarthas i basically no longer do this fishing. Just trolling for muskies is fine Just curious if lakers and whities survive this ascent differently, no doubt perch don't. Anyone?
  16. This is the bottom line. Imitation frogs are cheaper overall and allow you more control over presentation. Catching a bucket of leopard frogs was a great childhood memory but is just that. I am not into watching them use their little hands struggling to get unhooked when an imitation might be better. Having a heart is maybe more effective than trying to be a 'traditional' tough guy.
  17. I agree! It shows how perceptions have changed over the last 30 yrs. or so. Used to be able to buy them at bait shops. Not sure if they are still available. Caught a lot of bass with father as a kid using them. There surely is a difference between frogs and worms. Worms don't try to pull hook out with their little hands. Frogs are an excellent bait though. Italo etc... should have used better judgment.
  18. I think i know where that fish was caught and have fished there very often over the years. You have to launch a small tinny off a beach to get there at best time when all launches are frozen over. Over the years have caught everything there mid- winter, atlantics, chinook, rainbows, pike, largies, smallies, walleye, all the coarse species but mainly browns and white bass.Have even seen a 30 lb musky caught there. The white bass are like this one Dude caught. A wiper of that size being caught in L.Ontario freaks me out. Never heard of striped bass in the lake where did this come from? I have to get past my disability and get out there next winter. WOW! Thanks for post.
  19. Dave's not here man! Nor will he read the last few pages.
  20. Okay, my apologies on the drinking part. For whatever reason i don't imbibe, but have full respect for friends of Bill W. My bad
  21. I think you are right, Solo. This guy wasn't on 'vacation'. Now he has some big problems
  22. Another great fishing post there Steve Might have missed a big one but lots of good quality lakers.
  23. Lots of happy faces getting together for a good cause. Great photos!
  24. Unbelievable how everything is getting along. Never seen anything like that before It is like utopia.
