  1. Good going Steve! That is an incedible smallie for Kelli Nearly 7lbs, congrats.
  2. Have been fishing Kawartha musky for over 25 yrs. They seem to be 75% between 35 to 40 inch, which makes most sense anyways. The largest of the few hundred muskies in my boat was 47 inch and a few 46 inch and a few dozen more in the 43-45inch range. To me a Kawartha trophy would be anything over 48 inches and/or over 30lbs. Mostly they are 10-15 lbs for REAL.
  3. Nice post MJL, those browns are beauts especially the red dots on fins ones. Always caught biggest browns on same Panther Martin as brookies but in deeper darker pools/bends. Up that way it is hard to cast, it is more like 'flicking' or at times flipping lure under overhead branches and such. Good times
  4. Chubs fight the same as wet toddler socks. Brookies and browns go completely nuts in comparison.
  5. Use to jig for walleyes often up there and had muskies hit the jigs. Sometimes they were to big to get in on 6lb test, the biggest muskies i saw were caught fishing for walleyes. Thanks Simon, your posting of trips keeps me sharing as well
  6. Definitely not a spectacular day but any day fishing is better than none Maybe that fish was a bit bigger didn't measure to accurately in the cradle. Caught it by the dropping springs coming out of fairly deep water; read 22 ft when hooked. Thanks for replies!
  7. Was able to get out for my fourth day of fishing this summer Noticed the water was quite murky from algae bloom and the leaves were starting to turn a little. Showing fall is around the corner. Fishing was a little tough with the regular bass and panfish patterns not working at all, not even a rock bass. So just trolled around for muskies. My buddy Dave put on a 12" jointed perch Leo lure and nailed this decent fish. Fish was 36 inches and getting chunky for the fall. Seems like the open deeper water muskies are more silvery and not barred much. Trolled towards more shallow water out of the wind using musky spinnerbaits. Ended up catching this little one. It was 32" and more barred caught in much shallower water. Caught some fish so it was a pretty good day
  8. Have used this site for wind direction, speed, precip, etc for years. Helps to see if see different things might effect fishing location days in advance. http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/ETAPA_0z/etaloop.html
  9. A hundred muskies in your boat so far this year is incredible especially for 'the fish of 10,000 casts'. Try the northern part of Pigeon Lake if you want a 50 incher from the Kawarthas. Oddly the largest Kawartha musky came from Head Lake it weighed 45 lbs. Good Luck, the big fish season has just begun and the Kawarthas musky are open until Dec. 15th now.
  10. I remember when Brandon was posting about white bass in St.Clair R. Great to see such a progression through the photos
  11. Judging by the video that is a very decent day
  12. Actually that is a carp, goldfish have jaws and regular fish mouths. Maybe the colour is photoshopped.
  13. Nice going Fidel Amazing that a river salmon thread didn't get locked. Congrats on that as well
  14. Congrats on the good weekend! The black bucktail inline spinner has worked for many years. Try uploading your pics from your computer to photobucket.com, then using 'insert image' button above put image code in. Can preview post to see how it works. Probably better explanation found somewhere on this site.
  15. More great musky! Have to try there before season ends on Dec. 15th this year.
  16. You were rewarded by your very positive actions, sounds like karma to me. Real nice musky
  17. Great report and pictures Hear it has been tough up that way but youse got some pickerels, nice going
  18. I read alot of fishing magazines in the past like In-Fisherman, Ontario Out of Doors, Musky Hunter and found them very helpful for new baits and approaches. Participating and viewing this forum has provided all the info i need these days. Try the search function or go back through archives for endless tips on locations, lures, tackle etc... this website will provide you with tons of stuff related to fishing.
  19. I am no expert but for the Kawarthas, when casting a silver blade/black bucktail is good and for trolling a perch super shad rap seems to produce. The fish there aren't huge but give a great fight Good Luck
  20. Thought this was already in place Most things we eat seem genetically modified, like tomatoes, strawberries, most meats and dairy, etc... fresh and local stuff seems like the best choice when possible.
  21. Definetly the hottest summer since 2005 when we had blackout here during heat. Thinking this should be a good fall for musky fishing after heat dissapates a little this weekend. This has been an issue for me this summer as well, the numerous 100 degree F humidex has been disabling. Thank goodness for air conditioners!
  22. Me too Like most people; have had numerous tragedies, losses, etc...fishing as soon as possible was always the best therapy for me. Would always bring a childlike enthusiasm (to me) from within. Well written, Splashopper
  23. You need to put in the time.... great days of musky fishing indeed
  24. That is the flat rocks your buddy is standing on with the prop. Thought surely must've been damage to the hull of boat as well with the shallowness and abundance of rocks. At least no one was hurt. Small world
