  1. Pex but instead of Sharkbite, I'd go for Surlok. Way cheaper and also I found Sharkbite connectors not as easy to remove as suggested. That small orange crescent remover thing is a right royal pita to use. It's made for baby hands lol. Surlok just needs a slot screwdriver to break the clamp.
  2. Is it possible the cotter pin sheared ? good recovery nonetheless, hats off for keeping calm !
  3. While time spent with your son is without question, priority 1, I'd be steamed at the apparent disconnect between their brochure/ website, and reality. This will indeed comeback to haunt them as I'm sure word is out. Fortunately the fish were on fire which would help take the mind off everything else. Thanks for the TR and glad everything, worked out, more or less have a happy Canada Day !
  4. fly those flags, set off those fireworks and grill copious amounts of meat on the bbq ! best country on this crazy marble, bar none
  5. niiiiice ! bet you're looking forward to the first cast I hope you rebuild the one that's not supposed to be worth the effort. Anything bamboo deserves love. and a great Canada Day long weekend to everyone at OFC !
  6. If we're being honest here, I prefer a link to the report (like Moosebunk's Nipigon story) vs a long TR here with lots of pictures as that tends to bog things down. either that, or make the photos thumbnails that link to a larger version.
  7. dang epic read again !
  8. that's horrible and I can only hope the others on board were spared the worst of it...
  9. Hey Tom S, Have you tried using the snake (or minion) method for long smokes ? I can get 6-7 hours of steady 225˚ f (+ or- a few degrees) temps using that method. Best to just google it vs me trying to describe it. A wireless thermo is indispensable for smoking and I'm using the Maverick for the Weber and Masterbuilt smokers.
  10. 15' ? that's pretty damned fast ! Sounds like a gas would be better and u can still smoke on that with a proper cast iron smoke box and chunks (not fan of chips). when I win the lottery and buy my dream cottage, on a nice pike and bass lake, this is what I'll be getting to help feed the masses that thing eats a HUGE bag of lump like a snack lol https://www.weber.com/US/en/grills/ranch-kettle-charcoal-grill
  11. big difference between grilling and smoking with an Egg vs gas. Do you want to throw meat on the grill quickly (ie-winter) ? Also do you entertain a lot and need lots of grill real estate ?
  12. cray cray https://www.facebook.com/trophywalleyes/videos/926302737512635/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED
  13. If they do a very good job loading and unloading and give you a tour of the waters you're going to fish, I'd tip.
  14. have the 1000 and 2000 Hondas and they're champs. Wouldn't pass on a Yammy if it's a good price either If you want peace and quiet, stay away from Champion.
  15. Last time I was at Totem, they had a map with most prop killers marked down, so use that a ref, depending on water levels of course.
  16. One reason I've heard is that they're not releasing as much water downstream on the St.Lawrence so it's backing up into Lake O. I tend to believe this as this was not an unusual year for snowpack and rain. not enough to bring the lake up this much.
  17. that is BOLD and if I caught someone doing that to a friend, said phone would be 'accidentally' broken. and cops called.
  18. blame the idiots who chose to fly their drones near flight paths and who used it to peep in apartments and condos. the writing was on the wall when this happened, esp the airport incidents. I'm not sure but I would think/hope that if one was a registered (commercial ?) drone operator and filed plans, these regs could be bypassed.
  19. Spend the money on a good drysuit with booties and not one that has a zipper across the back. I use a Kokatat Gore Tex (front entry, diagonal zip across chest to shoulder) for paddling and with a fleece bunnysuit underneath, comfortable in all except January or Feb temps. Wearing chest waders during a dump is gonna do jack all as the immediate cold water immersion on your skin is going to be what makes or breaks you, hence the drysuit. Also trying to get back on the SOT with a wader full of water (even with a belt, water will probably get in) will be a task. Safety first as a drysuit will give you time to assess the situation. So I'd suggest Kokata or Stohlquist drysuits since they're made for active users and allow excellent mobility. I knew the guys who started Level Six and they make some innovative gear, their rash guards are popular. Former Olympic level C-paddlers.
  20. whatever brand u get, make sure to get a self propelled one. oh yeah, I have a Lawn-Boy. no complaints
