Best $20 I spent, let the smoking begin
woodenboater replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
I smoke ribs at 225-250 on a Weber kettle or a Masterbuilt gasser as I like a low and slow smoke. I'd be curious if the Luhr can take a few more ˚s in temp to get to that magic zone ? would love to smoke trout and salmon so will be watching this thread for recipes -

awesome ! can this smoker be used for ribs as well cuz that would be wicked ! -
but a driver following the bus isn't seeing the same view as the trucker so that's moot to me. ymmv. and everything will come out, guaranteed. this is too high profile for it to disappear into the paperwork. and charges will be coming if facts determine there was no reason he couldn't stop. I'll wait for the reconstruction team to figure out why it happened. I hope they're handling this case with extreme caution.

news cycle keeps moving. also the Toronto van murders was huge news. something else will dominate the news soon

I don't think you'd get blowback from reporting the officer but you also don't know what kind of day she's had. Might be a reason she was short with you. I'd keep it in your back pocket for now... -

Totally understand this sentiment but I'm glad he didn't. Btw, his father was an officer in Hong Kong so he must have learned lessons watching his father. So let's say PC Lam did shoot and kill the driver, what that does is it leaves an extremely important question unanswered for the families of those who were struck. I know I'd need an answer to that question as it's part of the healing process and allows one to deal with what happened. If he's dead, that question will never be answered and will linger and simmer forever. I'd want, and need closure.

I have a feeling, since he's facing a huuuge stack of charges, that the prosecution will seek consecutive vs concurrent. I'll be surprised if he serves concurrent, if convicted of all ten first degrees and 13 attempted murder charges.

curious, but why won't some like it ? police training and a cool head prevailed and is now an example of that for other forces. this is a huge win for TPS and deservedly so

Facebook confirms INCEL post by van driver. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-facebook-post-connected-to-suspect-in-van-rampage-cites-incel/

absolutely and I really hope this is it for the rest of the year. please. I also see cities taking a hard look at open spaces and how they can be secured from these types of acts. Bollards and lots of them, esp at Dundas Sq

def not a pc guy but I just don't like seeing that label thrown around so easily is all and no way am I defending him whatsoever. Very far from it. I was up there and saw the tarps and I've seen enough of this over the years that I'm losing faith in people as a species. Regardless, the guy deserves everything coming at him. Can't believe the cop showed incredible restraint apprehending him.

I think we should hold back on the terrorist comments until we know the facts. Otherwise we call ALL people who commit mass murder terrorists, and I don't see that happening anywhere. What's interesting as well, there's possible Facebook postings that suggest he's part of the INCEL movement. Sounds extremely 'not a full deck' kind of thing and why he may have done this. Again, I can't see how he can do the math that leads to mowing down 25 people, leaving 10 dead and many who will suffer from ptsd. Can't even imagine the horror. Also wondered if he specifically chose that area of Yonge St. as it's also Koreatown and he possibly harboured hatred towards Asians. Dunno, but why Finch south ?

Everything is hearsay so far until reconstruction has had the time to piece it together. But an honest question for anyone who drives heavy loads for a living. If, hypothetically, the trucker ran the sign, wouldn't the front end and cab have been totalled as well It looks like he caught the front right quarter of the bus, judging by the way the bus is peeled. Can't imagine being a first responder to this and they're going to need help as well. this Roy MacGregor column says it all... https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/article-the-humboldt-tragedy-fifteen-dreams-shattered-when-that-truck-and-bus/

their Facebook page is gone,or unavailable. guess they were getting roasted

that's very generous and possible but an owner not realizing he's missing a ton of lp tanks ? not buying. they should have gone back if they noticed the count was off.

good to see this has already been posted. if it was this operator, they shld lose their biz license to operate huts. wonder what else they left on the bottom of simcoe over the years.

yup.shoulda taken his fifth and boat. hopefully CBS will have his name and face in the database so if he tries to come to Canada, he'll get his arse turned around fast. an give his truck and camper the full tear down inspection.

Looks like Fishbum Outfitters has gone 'teats up'

I dunno, sounds like they expanded too quickly and probably got leveraged beyond their capabilities. Getting big, important retail orders is great but I'd imagine big corp don't have much sympathy if skeds/orders and dates aren't met. Hope they can regroup and come back leaner and more focused on what got them started in the first place. -
