  1. hey that was you we passed? nice fish we were in the yaks when we saw you around 2
  2. was out there a couple weekends ago and was kinda quiet. Mind you I was lazy and only paddled around for about 3-4hrs around the beach and pier area. In that time only saw a couple rises.
  3. I will second or third that. Never had a pvr til last couple yrs. Bought it on sale with a rebate a few christmas' ago. Once you have one you'll wonder how you did without it and start recording all sorts of shows. I can set recordings on the fly away from home on my iphone with the manager app. Last Christmas I bought a new flat screen and called rogers to see if there were any promos running for another PVR. Guess what, they "gave" me one for 24 months. Shows up on my monthly bill and then they apply a credit for the term. Awesome. WFN, my son and I watch quite regularly, pay about $2.50month. Our favs ATM are the kayak fishing shows.
  4. agreed, it's the user not the technology, and as stated you can use it or not and turn it off. don't blame the cell phone
  5. I believe frodo explained it in those 6 words. "it makes no sense FOR HIM" please don't read things into what people are actually trying to say out of context. he didn't ridicule anyone for keeping their catch, it was you who postulated that he was. what is it you don't get? BTW great way to welcome a newbie to the forum. frodo here's to hoping you stick around, you know what it's like on forums...
  6. tried out my new yak last night from 545 til 830. Very slow, landed a few little guys as did my son but otherwise slow relatively. generally the same for most folks as I was told.
  7. I heard sex sometimes gets labour going. with your expectant wife that is
  8. I have the same one and works great on my battery. Over a yr plus. Just set it on auto and you are set.
  9. If you can wear contacts they have bifocal ones that seem to work where your eye starts to focus on the section of the contact for close up reading.
  10. I wear Maui Akamai Been wearing these about 2 yrs for just about everything. Light, look great and more importantly, fits my big noggin. I am lucky as my wife works in the biz so all my glasses from fishing to riding are 50% off at least.
  11. help out some friends and get some swag. Good on you.
  12. I too have a CT one, it's always on sale for $50 and does an auto charge where it selects a varying amperage til full, and yes it will take a while but in the long run will protect your battery longevity. In odd instances if you are in a hurry, select your amp rate but don't do it too often. battery has been fine for 1.5 yrs now. can usually fish close to entire day on a full charge. size 27 battery and 230 min rate
  13. Im heading up that way for Civic long weekend. Four families camping over at Elora so Saturday will hit up the market. Some fly and tubing on the Grand, can't wait.
  14. I bought a weber smokey mountain smoker a couple years back. You need to babysit but once yet experiment and use the right charcoal, not so much. Great tasting briskets and chicken. You'll have a blast.
  15. if you want to have some fun with small residents upper credit try a 12' tenkara rod, perfect for getting into tight spots and delicate presentations.
  16. don't forget about the perfection loop. easier to tie a small portion of mono to the fly line ( if it doesn't have a loop already) with your nail knot, then tie a perfection to the other end. Now all you need to do is loop your leader through that loop and you're set.
  17. Without getting into all the specifics, if you're just running it on your trolling motor like me you can get a deep cycle from Lebaron, believe they sell the Deka brand. They come in various "sizes" which are then based upon run min at a specified trolling motor thrust. They also have others which are for both starting and deep cycle. Then make sure you get a good charger.
  18. This is what I use. Always run it on auto and the charger does all the work. Never any issues with our deep cycle http://www.canadiant...A.jsp?locale=en
  19. could have but it wasn't any of us, just them, and one of them for a 3rd time. With the weather we've had this past winter and repeated warnings, enough said. NO SYMPATHY.
  20. Yes my son and I both use the mustang manual inflatable version. Nice and light and not obtrusive at all.
  21. just use a small piece of tire inner tube and pull through that. it's kinda like magic, just don't reef on it or it will heat up and snap off. my inner fly fisher talking
  22. great score, especially the Garmin. you'll love that rod.
  23. kinda blanket statement don't you think? Have you ever purchased anything from there? There prices are on par with items I have seen at other shops, and cheaper in some cases. I saved over $300 on my shotgun there. And if like some of us that live in the west end, it sure beats driving 80 clicks to Gagnon. I shop at Gagnon and took advantage of last months' 20% off, but be realistic, almost 200km for a round trip is fiscally irresponsible, at least for me. I'm just grateful we have options!
  24. you just got to take him out and he might surprise you. Get him to balance out his spare time. Mine kept asking for a few years and when I did finally take him, we went full on and he got the bug. my 14yr old fishes with me every weekend. We did Nipissing a month ago and he caught the most and largest whitefish. During the soft water season we fish from our pontoon every weekend. I now ask him about all the new and exciting stuff. this I can take with me, and hope as he gets older he will still have the passion and want to fish with his old man.
