  1. Got mine yesterday, not reading it til my plane ride tomorrow. The 2 "books" along with it seem to be just a couple catalogues
  2. gotta get my audit also as we have a ton of windows on order and still can come out on top with a few bucks. think it's about $40 per window
  3. I can do most of those casts(they aren't difficult with a bit of practice, plus as was mentioned it is somewhat of an instructional on types of casts as opposed to application of casts) and most places I fish here really limits us to not being able to use them. Usually tight and full cover is the order of the day, and never that length of line out cuz it would be in the tree behind you. Might be good on the larger rivers around here. there's a reason why the roll cast is so widely used.
  4. Got the finder and all else needed from last season just the means to get out 3plus clicks out. that truck looks like an overgrown argos This season I'm just looking for some bigger fish. Last year we had days of max fish per person, but not what I would consider eating worthy so back in it they went. Kinda lookig forward to the new season and see how we'll do. thanks for all the replies
  5. That's a sweet offer Rick. I might make you regret it LOL. Yep the deep stuff is going to be the main challenge so will definitely be avoiding it at all costs. I figure the first couple times out will be hilarious. Then when it gets nice and thick the van will be the answer
  6. the new PP they are selling now I find is not as good as the last one. but yeah PP
  7. sure you might be on there but try canadian gun nutz
  8. exactly what I am waiting for, my buddy to get a sled or quad. Not too gung ho about driving out there but would depend upon the launch locations. I think this year I'll try towing with my commuter bike and get the feel for the conditions. Last year most of the days I went out there was little snow, only ice so that would be fine. It's the 6" of fresh or loose stuff I really want to test out. thanks
  9. come to the dark side, and you might just like what you find. besides reason you can't get stuff off it has a lot to do with DMR. If you look hard enough I'm sure you can find a route $ wise you aren't that far off in pricing if you guys are dropping $500 plus for one. and when you occupy 80% of the tablet market it's unfortunate but 3rd party vendors will charge a premium for accessories.
  10. saw it last night also and figured I'm safe so long as I don't venture to Africa. if you listen closely, which I didn't hear yesterday, I think the lead says look at the donkey and points at it.
  11. thanks for the info guys. re: icewalker http://www.theicewalker.com/ is this legal here and has anyone even tried this? Seems like it was patented few years back with adjustments for retrieval. doesn't sound like the one with the engine though...
  12. okay, I'm cheap and not really sure if ice fishing is my cup of tea. Went out maybe 3-4 times last season with moderate success, mainly perch and not that many jumbos at Simcoe. before I invest anymore $ into something like a used atv/snowmobile to get out "there" to set up camp, wanted to know if it is really necessary to get out that far to fish? I know it depends where you fish and structure etc. but are there any businesses that provide transport service to and from general spots? And lastly, has anyone considered using their bike ie mountain bike with studded tires to pull their sled to their favourite spots? I know it sounds out there but I've got the tires and ride trails all winter long. Got the hut on order and was able to find my favourite buddy heater so all set aside from the long walk out.
  13. Closet Bills fan since my HS days. Not like the Kelly days of course(which was heartbreaking) but the comebacks have been impressive. Here's to hoping they rack up a few more wins. And am I the only one here who thinks the Vick experiment is over?
  14. I wish my replacement/warranty was rectified that quickly. It's been 2.5 months going and it's not even a St Croix company issue per se. Indirectly yes it is, but my dealer is great and gave me an avid in place of my son's legend for the time being. That just reflects the dealer, not St Croix, so take it for what it's worth. Last I heard no one made an indestructible fishing rod unless we all want to fish flagpoles. As for rod company choice, go with what you want to, we all make purchase decisions based solely on personal reasons and objectives. If it feels right in the hand then you will know. BTW are they even in the same pricing category? Doesn't seem to make sense trying to decide between 2 rods if one is double or triple the cost. Unless you are trying to purchase based only on $ and not type of rod and application, ie Fenwick's more expensive against St. Croix entry level rod.
  15. yes very sad and will be missed by this longtime machead contributions galore
  16. Same here, had 2 prs of K2's with the BOA, will never use a lace up for boarding, never can get them dialed in right especially with cold hands. Parisite, agreed the Chromes are super comfy, me thinks Korkers has a slightly roomier footbed or toebox, whichever most of their models are comfy with 2 prs of extra socks. BTW if you know your size, try finding them online, might be worth it if shipping doesn't kill you, and the slightly lower CDN buck doesn't slip further. I recently came across some for $150 for the fixed soles.
  17. my leafs too, let's enjoy the next 2 days
  18. Go them on my Korkers Guide boot. Used for a yr now with now problems. I vowed that I would use BOA in any application that they are available such as my snowboarding boots.(3 plus years now) I have never encountered issues with them, quick off and easily tightened to however tight you like. If you are worried like others about snapping, keep an extra set in your car, no different than spare laces. And if you need to cut them for any reason, you can use your nippers to release them. My son hates damp and cold frozen laces... and tells me his boots are too tight
  19. you need to sell me your sportsal for something more portage friendly otherwise thanks for the write up, those trips are always the most fun.
  20. best to call but I recall Primrose was, which unfortunately is not on your list...
  21. Yes correct, you must double check with each manufacturer as more and more are adjusting their sizes to represent actual shoe size you would wear instead of going up. But 2 sizes was what I used and was perfect for 2 pairs of thick winter socks. Makes it harder to order online unless you have tried them on here 1st
