I know zero about smoking...other than I hate the smell. But I do know a few people that switched to vaping as a method of quitting and it works. Apparently, they purchase weaker and weaker doses of nicotine until they're vaping zero nicotine. At that point, it's all habit and no drug. Sounds reasonable but again, you still have to want to quit.

How far can you guys cast??

I've got a friend with a family cottage on that lake. What I've read about that lake keeps me from taking up my bassboat. I'll go fast and it'll go bang. Guaranteed. Sure looks like a nice spot though.

It's important to know what kind of hours were put on the outboard as well. Now that guys are using features like structure scan, outboards are logging higher hours in the 1000-2000 range. In the old days it was all +5000! Ask for a readout.

it's a combination of where to fish and which bait/presentation. The first day you were catching fish that were active and up on the outer edges of cover. Great time for horizontal baits such as crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Plastics will work great as well but you'll cover a lot less water. The second day was very similar with the exception of the light conditions. The fish will be active but are pushed back into heavier cover to escape the sunshine. Remember, they don't have eyelids! LOL Now is the time to pull out the jigs and plastics. The bad part is it forces you to slow down your presentation, the good side is, it concentrates the fish into easily recognized areas as opposed to day 1 when they were scattered. Day 3 is the toughest day because the fish are transitioning from active to inactive. This can be a great time if you can locate the active fish because they'll be super active. Go back to your spinnerbaits and jerkbaits and get out on the windward side of points, islands and humps. Fish FAST...throw up tight to shore and burn the baits back to the boats. Don't worry about finesse, the fish that are sitting in the wind are on baitfish being pushed up by the wind and have a huge strikezone. Cover lots of water and go, go go. Have fun!

This is true but again, it's my opinion it has nothing to do with fish populations. This year for some reason there were less fish up shallow on Erie and many of the smallmouth spawned deep. Also, smallies will spawn in 20+ feet of water and this year it was the norm. If you fished shallow near Crystal Beach...Windmill, Rosies, or even on the US side, you'd be hurting for fish. I know because I went out and after hitting all my 8-12 ft waypoints had little to show for it. I reluctantly moved out to late summer/early fall water and there they were. The 20-35ft range held them all.

Fish adapt so much quicker than fisherman...and because people are creatures of habit, they do the same thing over and over. When it doesn't work, it must be the fishes fault. lol Rest easy, the fish are still there, the big fish are still there. It's your job now to figure out the current pattern. Chances are, it's not much different than before but without subtle modifications, the results can be anything but subtle.

All I know is, as much as the police up here tick me off the way traffic law is enforced, that's a pretty small complaint in the scheme of things. The job they do is one that I've never envied. But the thought of being a police officer in the States is off the map crazy. You ask me, the inmates are running the prison. People, any people...angry people, mentally disturbed people, depressed people are allowed to walk around carrying weapons because it's their right?? LOL If you have a health issue that makes you a potential hazard to drive, they take away your drivers licence! Makes sense! That's because it's not a right, it's a privilege to operate a motor vehicle. But anyone can carry a friggin gun. And then they're all shocked when a police officer, makes a poor decision (as deemed by the masses through the benefit of slow motion camera from the safety of their livingrooms) and someone gets shot. Let me tell you, I'd be shooting too. In a given split second life or death decision, I pick ME every single time. Frankly, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

I've had good luck with a dual purpose battery but ONLY for starting and electronics. Do as suggested above...make the effort to switch to group 27's and you'll never have an issue. My outboard died once and I went from the mouth of the Upper Niagara to Crystal Beach on MAX. Still had time so we fished the inner bay for another hour. 36V from group 27's. No such thing as too much when it comes to you batteries.

Good investment. Properties skyrocketed on/near the lake quite a few years ago.

I use 3M 4200 as opposed to the 5200. The 5200 is extremely adhesive and has tremendous tensile strength. That is not required for this application and can lead to damage when trying to remove it. The 4200 series has the exact sealing properties with 1/3 the tensile strength. This makes motor removal easier and safer later on. It also means the sealant is easier t get off the transom. Numerous examples of V6 outboards holding in place after the bolts have been removed using 5200. I just added a jackplate and used the 4200 with a 200hp. Up to you, but I'd google it first.

Can't go wrong with the Toyota. I drove a 4Runner for 16 years and when I sold it, the guy drove it away. That truck saw every hockey arena and fire road within 200 miles of home. Bullitproof.

Which area of the lake are you near? I grew up on that lake, causeway side.

I believe that winters may affect numbers but certainly affect growth. I saw the impact on Erie a few years ago after the consecutive warm winters we had. Overall though, i think all things wildlife related go in cycles.

Maybe they've decided to tank next year...lol
