Can braided line be 'aged' in any way?
grimsbylander replied to Dave Bailey's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
Yeah, I read it...not a chance. -
After about 7 years of insuring my boat with the same company, this year they’re asking for a survey. Strangely, a friend of mine who uses a different insurance company also got asked for a survey this year. I need to shop for another carrier.

Something else was going on there. 20lb PP doesn’t break off on 2lb fish. -

Spinning or baitcaster? -
First off, go with a 24v trolling motor. I assume with the 50hp it’s the 165CS model so you will not be happy with a 12v setup. Deep V boats with high sideboards need power in a breeze so that 12v battery will drain too quickly.

Now you can fish the southern tribs for mutant fish. 😂

I can imagine that owning a business which is structured around having thousands of people in a building could be very fragile. I would have to assume that there are a lot of long term contracts in place to solidify pricing and availability fr each event. ie the rental of the venues are most likely locked in for multi-year leases. This means the dollars are going out regardless of whether the show doors open. Glad to see Master Promotions is a Canadian company.

Lake Erie spot for bass season opener?
grimsbylander replied to GaraldT's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely. There are resident fish everywhere along the north side of the lake. It’s true there is a migration that happens in the fall whereas fish stack up on particular pieces of structure, however, that’s a long way off and for now, the typical summer pattern is in place. -
Small uninhabited roadside lakes?

Lake Erie spot for bass season opener?

The entire shoreline from Tecumseh to the Niagara River has both quantity and quality of fish. Pick a launch and go. Use basic knowledge of structure fishing to locate fish. Start shallow and work deep...you'll find them. Once you find fish, it's rinse and repeat; work that depth and follow the contour. You don't need to ask for specific spots. Good luck! -
Google is your friend. Search the make, model, year and hp class thoroughly prior to buying anything. Opinions on here are just that, opinions. Do your homework!

Since the weather forecast was a lot cooler for Sunday I thought it would be a good day to smoke a beef brisket. Here's it is, kosher salt and pepper rub with a small amount of bbq powder all held on using a mustard glue. I used a mix of apple and mesquite wood over charcoal. About 8 hours start to finish including 2.5 hours wrapped to beat the thermal stall. I let it rest for another 1.5 hours until the temp was down to about 140F. The bark was still fairly crunchy even though I wrapped it. Turned out great...man I love this stuff!

Looking to buy 60 or 70 hp Johnson/Evinrude
grimsbylander replied to Hack_Fisherman's topic in Miscellaneous
When you do find a used one online, it'll be very pricey too. With the current economy, I'd at least have a conversation with a dealer and be aggressive. -
Why is this not a movie? WHY?!
grimsbylander replied to Dave Bailey's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
That was really interesting. Loved the pictures as well. I realized within seconds the narrator, "The History Guy" is not from Toronna!!! lol -
Congrats on a great day. Beautiful fish and scenery too. That’s a lot of fishing knowledge in one canoe. 👍🏻

I just got off the phone with one of my sales managers. He just bought a 2013 Lund 16" aluminum, 40 hp Yamaha. ipilot, trailer for $2500. Geez. It was just sitting at the end of a guys driveway. -
It’s funny that for all the shows out there you nailed the one show I just can’t seem to watch an entire episode. It’s almost a shameless barrage of plugs and frankly, I wonder if they realize it’s insulting to the audience.

Spotted today at Dollarama: Shimano SRS6000 Rod for $4
grimsbylander replied to Lord Letto's topic in General Discussion
Hey it’s a $4 rod...if I was close to Kitchener I’d buy 3-4 just to give out to my neighbours kids. That’s how kids get into fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Not starting with Stradics!! Letto, pm me the address of the Dollarama as I may be in Cambridge this week. There’s 4 young boys on my street that might need a new rod! -
Funds to build break walls?? If they stall for a few years, the property owners will want to use the money to extend their docks!

Non resident fishing license question
grimsbylander replied to Coach 49's topic in General Discussion
Let me know if they move the dates. I buy a non resident NY State Licence every year and didn’t get to use mine either! I won’t hold my breath!
