  1. Well, I had a blast! I gotta thank Wayne and Terry, Wayne for the invite and hospitality for starters and Terry for carting my fat buttocks up hwy 11 and all over h.e.l.l.'s half acre of Temagami! You know, it's not often that you put your trust in someone you really don't know that well and I found it kinda funny, that I was able to do so with Terry. I'll explain. I don't have a snowmobile helmut, so Wanye lent me his old one. Well, one Satruday morning, when we headed out for the brookie lake, at minus 28, we managed to travel about 50 yards before my visor froze solid! I was completely blind for 25 miles! That my friends, is trust! An entire morning in the truck talking and you get to know a guy pretty good! I learned tons from these guys about fishin. Not a laker or whitie guy in my past, boy did I get schooled! Keith was fun to watch! Lloyd, same thing and pretty funny to! Dano, well what can yah say but... Dano, quick, look what time it is!!! Wayne, thanks for everything! Too many to mention. Now, the pics with the gloves... I'd heard that if you don't catch, you wash dishes, so I thought Terry might need them... turned out Terry and I did alot of dishes! LMAO! (Wayne got off on a technicality!) I am preparing myself for the pending pics! Gonna have speckles for supper on Firday!!!!! HH
  2. Great job! Terry did as well as I did! LMAO! HH
  3. My condolences on your loss. HH
  4. Bernie... I was getting my stuff together the other day and all I kept saying to myself was old school! What would Bernie do! I hear yah Bud! Oh and thanks to you, I went out and bought a pair of reading glasses to keep in my boat bag! This gettin old stuff is gettin old already! Thanks Bernie! HH
  5. Ah crap Terry, I thought we were fishin for Specks!!!! Truck is loaded, fishin gear, libation, snacks, clothes, coffee is already made and in the Thermos... just gotta find Terry's house in the morning... might get up half an hour before I go to bed just to be sure... See yah in the morning Terry! HH
  6. Anyone else see this? http://www.syracuse.com/outdoors/ Please don't shoot the messenger! HH
  7. The eyes don't count on your limit... the fish does though. In that case, you can have all the eyes you want, just don't go over the possession limit. HH
  8. As I said Web-Fisherman, you must keep the fish (game fish) and not allow it to spoil on the ice. It will count as part of your daily limit. Should you talk some fish home, remove the eyes and then, at another date, use the eyes, you should be ok, as long as you leave a piece of skin on any fish you have at home inyour freezer. Should you not have any fish in your possession, then you should still be good. HH Ps... anyone have any musky eyes lying around! Lol!
  9. I believe you can use it wallyboss. HH
  10. Ok... we had a thread on this topic a number of years ago. I like the O.P., wasn't sure what the laws were, so I called the Ministry. You can use the eyes or parts of any fish, as long as it was legally caught and intended to be kept. This includes game fish. You are not allowed to use the whole fish (gamefish) but any part can be used as bait. Just be sure to have your "parts" fish in a state that it can be properly dressed, for consumption. That means that you could use pike eyes, whitie eyes, virtually any fish in season. Removing the eyes is pretty simple if you have the right tool. I have used a pencil, with a wire loop attached to the bottom. The key is to keep the eye in as good shape as possible, so it lasts longer on the hook. HH
  11. I am already packing my double padded head gear and shoulder pads! Don't worry Terry... I put a big X on the side of my bucket, where I caught fish last time out... I'm pretty sure it's still on the bucket! We'll just drill right beside the X One more day of work... week's half over!!!!!!! HH Ps... you hit the nail right on the head Cliff!!!
  12. I have no idea what flippin day it is... I just know that it isn't Thursday!!!!! I think I may need to get away! HH
  13. The merits of each line not with standing... I would expect the result of the mergers to be a rather substancial increase in prices soon. Lack of competition will result in price increases. HH
  14. A gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and HMO paperwork and was burned out. Hoping to try another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic. He went to the local technical college, signed up for classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could. When the time for the practical exam approached, the gynecologist prepared carefully for weeks and completed the exam with tremendous skill. When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had obtained a score of 150%. Fearing an error, he called the instructor, saying, "I don't want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wonder if there is an error in the grade." The instructor said, "During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark. "You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark. " This equaled an A. After a pause, the instructor added, "I gave you an extra 50% because you did it all through the muffler, which I've never seen done in my entire career. HH
  15. Joey, I had a similar experience as Lew, herniated disk...I think we had the same operation Lew! Paul's symptoms sound similar. I would not put heat on it until the swelling goes down... I would be iceing his back every two hours for 20 minutes with a nice bag of frozen peas! Exrays only show bones, not soft tissue, ie disc material... he may need a C.T. scan. The doctors will really give you the run around as they have a protocol for dealing with back problems, unfortunatly for those whose problems fall outside of the numbers, it can be a drawn out, painful process. I feel for him! Pm me if I can be of any help! HH PS... while he's lying around, I highly recommend a book called "The Back Doctor". One of the formost experts on backs in the world and he's from right here in Toronto! Started a place called, The Candian Back Institue I believe.
  16. Congrats Misfish and Mrs. Misfish! Terry, your scaring me now! How many hours ...... Alone in the truck!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must remember to bring my Thermos! No sleep till Temagami! HH
  17. Well, let's see here: 4 years of university 1 year of teacher's college (cut and paste 101) multiple advanced courses to become a principle And now uniquely qualified to check the entire school population for lice! I hear yah Capt. Bruce! I couldn't do that job either! HH
  18. Hey Capt Bruce! Or should I say Hey Bro! LOL I've actually been able to get her to pair them down alot, we are currently sitting at around 55 to 6o pairs! I can't bare to count the boots!!! I'd love to have as many guitars as she has footware! HH
  19. Wayne, the furlow I obtained from the Warden was hard earned and well deserved... ok, she just didn't want to hear me wimper for four days! LOL HH
  20. Really nice... congrats!
  21. Cram, my wife and I have been putting serious thought into putting our kids into private school. There are a number of reasons for this, but unfortunately, financially, right now, it would be financial suicide for us. RE: the tech market... well I have some personal experience in that market Let me just say that salaries and hourly rates have dropped in I.T., but really only in the last 6 months or so. That market is really all about riding the next technilogical wave and being at the crest of that wave, at the right time. The folks I know in the industry are folks who stay ahead of the game by staying educated and current. I know people making $100/hr and I know people making $15/hr. They are worth every penny a company will pay them or they wouldn't get it! HH
  22. Cram, I know where you are going with this and I agree with you... most Teachers do go beyond the required by law hours... however, many don't. If you recall from my earlier post, from yesterday, I started off by saying that most Teachers are good at what they do! However, like most things in life, it's the few who don't contribute that require the lion's share of the adminstrators' time. Just to clarify my position... I have met with and spoken to many excellent teachers who I would not hesitate to bring my kids to... however I have also encountered too many who are simply not in it for the right reasons. It certainly does take the "right" kind of person to be a strong teacher, unfortunately the one who aren't and have no intension of ever being more than they are now, are protected by the union. It paints a bad picture for the rest of the group. My beef is with the union and their protect the employee at any cost attitude. Too many useless people in a profession that has no real accountability or ramifications for incompetance. And don't forget the sense of entitlement that so many have! HH
  23. Hi guys, Not to belabour the point, but I had a bit of a conversation with my wife about this... yes she is steaming!!!! Currently, there are 300 minutes each day, for teachers to teach. This is required by Ontario law. The teachers, under their current contract get 200 minutes per week of prep time... that's time not in the classroom, but time they are to spend preparing for future classes, marking etc... Now, and here's the part that really sticks in my craw... should they receive more prep time in this agreement, they will essentially be in the classroom four days a week! Yes, they will be in the school, but not in front of kids! So, who pays for this? You guessed it! You and I! Think about it. In order for the board to run the school properly, they are now going to have to hire more teachers, just to maintain the status quote, with regard to ensuring kids have a teacher in the classroom. Now, couple that with 2.5% increase over 4 years and you have a recipe for a huge sucking sound coming out of the provincal coffers. So, leagally the teachers have to be in class 15 minutes before class starts and they legally have to be in the class for 15 minutes after class. Does anyone know of a job that requires you to be at work for 5 hours a day and pays what a teachers job does? Benefits, holidays etc.. not with standing! Good gig, huh! HH PS... Shad, you hit the nail on the head... the only reason my wife is still in the job, is because she loves it! Could she be doing a much better job, you bet, but her hands are tied. And yes, the new age parent is one of the biggest pains in the butt she has! Also, regarding the Education Assistants... they fall under C.u.p.e. and their contract states that they are required to be in the school until 3:30pm. My wife holds staff meetings from 3:15pm and at exactly 3:30pm, most of the EA's get up and walk out! Mid sentence, they get up and walk out... how many of us would still have a job if we simply got up and walked out on our boss, mid sentence?
  24. WHY YOU NEVER QUESTION A DRUNK SO....last night I'm at Walmart picking up a couple of things I need: a jug of milk, a dozen eggs, a frozen pizza, a block of cheddar, a can of coffee, and a package of bacon. As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk man standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated, "You must be single." I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since I was indeed single. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status. Curiosity getting the better of me, I said, 'Well, you know what, you're absolutely right. But how on earth did you know that?' The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly.' Never question a drunk
