  1. Dude, I have seen early maps of Toronto and am fully aware of the Leslie Spit's history. I assume you haven't walked the Spit as you would be aware of all the work being done to make it come to life. Having lived nearby for many years I have watched the Cormorant slowly destroy it, section by section, year by year. HH
  2. Wayne, you forgot the garlic! For anyone in the GTA, who's not seen the devastation these birds have created, just take yourself and or you family for a nice walk on the Leslie Spit nature trail... you will notice as you get toward the end of the spit, there is a section of the Spit that looks like it was ripped from the moon and dropped onto the inner harbour of Toronto. These birds can be seen all along the shores of Lake O and there is a constant stream of them flying back and forth from feeding grounds to their nests. The conservation authority is having a very difficult time deciding what course of action to take... leave them alone and let them destroy the whole spit, or cull them and have all the bleeding heart "naturalists" climbing up and down their back. HH
  3. Good work Terry! Nice Atlantic ya got there Wayne! HH
  4. I'll 2nd Ron's suggestion of Orno Cat World. If your into exotic cats, and want to see one close and I mean close, this is the place for you. The Toronto Zoo is nice, but you just don't get close to the animals. Orno Cat World puts you within feet of these incredible animals. You could do the Bowmanville zoo in the morning and arrive at Orno Cat World for 1:00pm feeding time quite easily. It anit fancy, but without a doubt, the best place to see lions, tigers, panthers etc... up close and personal. HH
  5. I think Terry and Wayne are metal heads! HH
  6. Asked of a recent retiree, what plans they have for the future... "I've often been asked, 'What do you old folks do now that you're retired? Well..I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch, and margaritas into urine. " Sounds like a plan to me! HH
  7. Look's like a potential shoal marker to me. HH
  8. I've gotten to the point that I simply can't watch it any more, I won't let my mind follow the logical step of putting me and my kids in these parent's situation. My kids have been wondering why Dad has become such a softy this week... God bless all involved. HH

  12. I hope I can still rock like them when I get that old. I can't imagine how happy Mike Anthony is, getting out from under the ego of EVH. This is a band that has talent, experience and business savy, a combination that should lead to much success and longevity... I hope! HH

  20. Well, a good example in my mind is politicians. Can anyone honestly say that we have the best minds in the counrty, in these very powerful positions? The best minds in politics now, are generally people who have succeeded in private business and have no real need for money. Atleast to my mind, that would be ideal. Bringing those talents to the public sector IMHO can only benefit the public. Salary should be commensurate with accomplishments. I guess I have a different perspective on things as in my day to day work, I have the opportunity to work with some of the very best at what they do and yes, by in large, they are handsomely paid. But when you equate the value they bring to their organizations, they are worth every penny. Now, I'm not saying that we are getting value for money spent, but I don't think you need th change the system, just the players. We are afterall in a suedo capitalist society. HH
  21. Well, I'm two minds on this... 1. In order to attract a talent level capable of managing an enterprise like hydro or what ever, you have to pay competitve salary's to the private sector. Personally, I would rather have a highly educated, qualified individual running these corporations, than a low paid person, attemping to do the job. Now, before you all get high and mighty on me, I'm not say we are getting value for our money, I'm just saying that those types of positions carry a very high profile and mistakes can cost us, the public a great deal of time, money and well crap! Public corps have to compete with the private sector to get the best talent. 2. WE ARE NOT GETTING OUR MONEY'S WORTH! I don't think I would have a problem with those high salaries if we were getting our money's worth. Mis-management and government tinkering has made many of these public corps disfunctional. HH
  22. Starvin Marvin and Sally Sturthers... and or Mega Streisand! Hey buddy, ya got any internet!? HH
  23. I understand that the pics are that of (Hamilton?) Steve and has been doctored. What I will say to all who think that kind of spread is unmanageable... it most certainly is! Assuming there are three folks in real life in that boat(to manke it legal) , that spread, done properly is more than manageable and one of the first folks who I would say could set it up and manage it would be (Hamilton) Steve. HH
  24. John, As I mentioned in my earlier post, consider the Napoeon and a huge plus 1 to what Pidgeonfisher said... My Vermont castings , approaching 10 years old still functions as it did day one. The ignitor still works, BBQ fires up first click. None of my burners leak, period. I can use the whole grill, I don't have to seek out hot or cold spots. It's big enough that I can feed 20 to 30 people at a time, but has consistant and even heat throughout the grill. It's expensive, but as Wayne mentioned, it's not the sort of thign everybody needs... if you only BBQ a few times a month, buy a cheapie, but you already mentioned that you BBQ alot, so the investment is worth it. Once you have ruined a few me3als, you'll see the advantage of a premium grill. Again, Napoleon, Ducane are two I highly recommend. I wandered through a Napoleon dealer on the weekend... some really nice grills in the $1500.00 to $2000.00 range... and be sure to check out the warranty they provide on the burners etc... HH
  25. Sad to see friends go, it happens and is part of life. I believe that the loyalty that they have shown you and the family business, is a direct reflection fo the treatment that those employees have been given by their employer. I hope things work out well for yah Bernie... and I too just love looking at those boats! HH
