If ya like catching the coarse fish and are in London again, may I suggest the following... -100 yds downstream from the Greeway Park train bridge... big sandy beach... huge carp and suckers... -the break wall in Greenway Park, right beside the large parking lot, a bit upstream from the Wonderland Bridge... That should keep yah plenty busy! HH

I think Rex hit the nail o the head in last nights comments... Copied and pasted for you enjoyment... What do you call a hockey team that issues apologies? IKEA. And where does that happen? Why in Toronto of course, centre-ice for the ‘losing-est’ franchise since the invention of the puck. It’s said that Don Cherry sheds tears on his high-collared neck every time he walks past the Air Canada Centre when the Leafs are playing. We all know what he’s feeling. How long has it been since the Maple Leafs won a Stanley Cup? Or even made the playoffs? It’s been so long the time-scale is geologic: glaciers have melted, the earth’s plates have shifted, dinosaurs (Harold Ballard) have vanished, since any Toronto newspaper could front-page a Leaf victory. I’ve checked on Wikipedia. The earth was young when the Leafs had men on the team, understood that the purpose of the other team’s net was to shoot pucks into it, when the thought of losing to some American team with Ducks in its name was an unspeakable impossibility. Think. History buffs may remember these names, from the days before The Fall: Mahovlich, Keon, Armstrong, Horton, Bower. They were the kind of players that made up a team that earned them a word not heard so much in Toronto today: winners. Winners. The last time that word bruised the lips of anyone around the Air Canada Centre, he was arrested on the double charge of reckless falsehood and criminal optimism. Aware that Toronto Hockey has equal suspense and less esteem than the city’s annual Duck Regatta, the club’s owners - just back from the piling up the bullion in the counting house - this week decided that after yet another year of empty dreams, flattened hope, crushed expectations and broken hearts they should apologize to the team’s despairing fans (it’s not known if they sent flowers). They are buying full-page ads of apology. Is this a hockey team, or a band of overpaid flagellants? Did The Rocket apologize? Howe? Hull? Lafleur? Orr? Lemieux? Of course they didn’t. They could play hockey. They were too busy winning. 45 years out of the finals - longer than it took the trees to grow, that supplied them the wood, to make the hockey sticks, they don’t score with. Whole forests have been felled for no real reason. You apologize after 2 or 3 losses, or even 5 or 6. You do not apologize for a 45-year losing streak. You go into exile, or take up ping-pong, or selling vacuum cleaners. In other words you leave the scene of the country’s worst sport’s crime. Playing in the country’s biggest city, filling the arena for every losing game and losing season - you don’t need to apologize - you’ve lost the right to apologize. “Sorry” is not something you get to say. “Sorry” is something you’ve become. For The National, I’m Rex Murphy. And for OFC... HH

There's a company that just got lucky! Congrats Cliff HH

Well, I must be doing something wrong!

Cliff, a small pebble, inserted into the valve stem of their vehicle, will slowly drain the tire of it's air... and when they go to refill the tire, the stone will fall out and they will not be any wiser... Some times people suck! HH -
I used to catch them on th Thames River in London... never used a lure, but this technique worked... -we used live minnows, the smaller the better. -we used treble hooks and wrapped the whole minnow around the hooks... sometimes even using more than one minnow. - we would suspend the treble/minnow below a bobber, with no more than a foot of line between the bait and float. They will tow your float around... wait till yah can really feel them pull and lay the lumber on 'em! I never caught any over three ft long, never saw any that big... but I can tell you that they are not a fish that likes to fight... once you get their snoot up and out of the water, you can motor boat them in.... Still a decent way to pass a hot summer day! HH

Wow! Well I can guarantee that I would get zero work done should I have that kind of fishery in my back yard... Great pics, beauty Pickereyes and great kid shots! Killer report! HH

You know Doc, as a life long Leaf fan, I have seen a long line of GM's toddle their way through the hallowed halls of Maple Leaf Gardens and on into the ACC. Each had their goals, their "style" and each, at least in my life time, has failed. (I was a 6 when they last won the cup) I'd be the richest guy in Hog Town, if I could find a real reason as to the continued rate of failure... I presume that the answer lies in a number of reasons vs one. I the mean time, this Leaf fan hasn't yet decided who to cheer for this spring... May be Go Jay's Go!!! LOL HH

Good eats would be my guess... although that said, I personally don't care for the flavour of Quinte eyes.... HH

As has been said, you are going to get small fish this time of year... biggins have already headed back to Lake O... 1-4 lb range and the occassional gator/water goat/silver bass/white perch.... HH

Trolling 1/4 oz cranks off of lead core in Big Bay. Look for breaks in the water temps where shallow bays meet the main body of water and troll the temp breaks... I use lead core as it allows me to easily repeat depths and dial them in on the flats.... anything with purple from a crank perspective... HH

Look at the yapper on that one!!!!! Man, tha fish has one too! Nice job guys! Kitty's is just what the doctor ordered for youse two! HH

Let's just say that my next BBQ will be an egg... A couple of points: -his egg (my brother's)heats up faster than my Vermont Castings gas bbq... he uses an electric start and he's up and cooking in ten minutes... just re-lights left over char coal from his last use. -He's got an electronic temperature control unit that allows him to slow cook things like brisket over night... it's killer! -absolute temp control for grilling! (or anyting else... he can get it up to 800F!) -can use year round -excellent smoker as well! -doesn't burn much charcoal and there are equivalant charcoals available so you don't have to buy "Big Green Egg" coal My brother boughthis in the states, drove over at Pt. Huron and got it for about %500.00 less over there. I'm sold! HH
-
Well my brother has been using one for a few years now and it's the cat's rear end! What exactly would you like to know!? HH
-
Cool bro! Heaven is now going to "Eleven" HH

Nothing says "listen to me" like a Marshall... RIP Doc, are you sure that you have a 4x10 cab? Normally, Marshalls come in 4x12 configurations for both the flat and angled stacks... HH

Man, there are some real boilers in that video... heck, Lloyd's belly makes FnS's look small! OP, Lloyd's awesome and I am sure you would enjoy a day out with him! HH
-
Thanks for clearing that up Doc... I was beginning to wonder as well... HH

I haven't been able to watch an NFL game in years... 4 hours to play a one hour game!!! Put a stop watch on the actual time the ball is in play... then you can talk to me about boring! And for those who like to catch a bit of kip while watching sports.. two things come to mind. 1. Golf! Best tv sport to nap to! 2. Woman's curling! Babes yelling "hurry hard" does it every time! The NHL playoff picture is starting to clear... it's really too bad that we don't have very much of a Canadian presence this year... still hoping The Peg can find a way in.... that or dare I say, there are multiple plane crashes in the next week, that would put more Canadian teams into the game! HH
-
I think you meant U.S. colleges! HH
-
I was hoping that the "Peg" would do it, but it doesn't look good... so, as much as it hurts me, I am going to cheer on the Sabers... oh the pain! HH

Your thoughts on water clearity from zebra muscles

I have a feeling that there are other circumstances that are effecting the Thames river Pickereye run and those issues happen with regularity just down river from London... HH -

Fil brings up a good point about water clarity and it's affect on bass fishing... if you were to poll the guys fishing the Quinte Fishing Series (bass and Walleye tourny) I bet they would tell you that the bass fishing has improved substancially since the clearing of the water and that record bass are coming out of the bay. In all honesty, I can't tell you whether there are more or less fish... but you are correct, the fish that are there are significantly deeper then they were when I started to fish Quinte in the late 80's early 90's. HH -

I can only relate my experience fishing Quinte in the fall... since the arrival of the Zebra's, the fishing has become much more difficult as the number caught have dropped considerably. It was not unusual to catch a couple of dozen fish per outing... fast forward to today and that number would have you on TV! HH -
Good to see you again Ric! HH
