  1. Seen them used for pike and musky.
  2. I had a tax, probably this one, added to my bill at one of Niagara's restaurants one time. I questioned it and was told it was a tourist tax. That was the first and the last time I have seen it. I was also not told that it was not mandatory. So if it voluntary who would want to pay it?
  3. "Pave paradise and put up a parking lot, put all the trees in a tree museum and charge the people a buck and a half just to see them."
  4. I'm confused, but that's nothing new. So Sunfishangler = Big Bass Rich? (BBR)
  5. Sorry to hear that it didn't go in your favour. Sometimes I think that town/city councils are only interested in the added tax money that will be generated by new housing, retail and industrial developments. Plus all the new voters moving into their ridings. This is happening everywhere, some call it progress. I don't agree with this diagnosis. If you decide to move on I wish you success with the sale and the search for a new home. So much property is being swallowed by development, and so much of it is being taken up with multiple dwellings.
  6. Too bad, a fight to save what you have is not something to look forward to. I guess the answer really is that if you live next to vacant property near a growing community you have to expect it to be developed some day. That is very unfortunate and sad to say the least. Maybe this is a simpler solution: FOR SALE. Start looking for a new paradise. If the developer has deep pockets I wish you well with your fight. Anybody who has witnessed the fight in Burlington Ontario over Walmart's new store will agree as Walmart ended up winning when the city ran out of money to continue the war.
  7. Thanks Caper, I thought the registration was about 15 bucks anyway so 12 is good!
  8. Was going to write a post abut the Perch Fest but figured that give it time and someone would. There is a web site, just Google Orilia Perch Festival. Only thing is the site does not mention the cost of the entry fee.
  9. That is exactly why I call Niagara Falls Lake Erie's idiot. Told that to a Casino Niagara shuttle bus driver once and she almost hit the curb laughing
  10. Carp, the new game fish. Think I'm nuts? Just look at how the worlds fish stocks have been depleted and you will see. I have only caught them by accident and never kept any for the table or the garden. When I was growing up we had a European born neighbour who fished Bronte Creek every Sunday. He always came home with a carp or 2 that were destined for the strawberry crop. He had the most amazing garden on the block.
  11. Caught one years ago on Couch. He took my bait and put up one hell of a good fight. I managed to get it close to the boat and cut the line with the hope that the hook would rust out. But I have heard they are really tasty if barbecued and stuffed with cormorant!!!
  12. I've seen the names on outboards (and boats too) covered up so that the camera doesn't pick the name up. Usually seen this on a show where it is a fly in, portage or when it wasn't feasible to use the boat or motor that is being pushed on that particular show. For eg. a charter boat with a Merc. on the back and the shows sponsor was Yamaha.
  13. Deano is right, I remember my 6 hp Merc worked like that.
  14. Where do you live? I'll check it out for you, nudge nudge, wink wink and tell you if it's worth the money. All joking aside, if it looks good, doesn't leak, the motor runs as good as he says and there is a trailer go for it. Of course ya gotta chisel the asking price down for the h3ll of it, but if it is this good then go for it! You cannot go wrong with a good sound tinny regardless of the brand. Brand is irrelevant as all tinnies are good in there own regard. If the boat is registered in Ontario or where ever you live, as it should be with a 25 hp on it, then you should be safe as far as the ownership goes.
  15. I saw only part of the show this morning. Too late now to catch the replay of it at 3:30 as it's 4:00 now. The show wet my appetite for cats, even though the looks of them and the stinging fins scare the crap out of me gonna have to get out there soon Steve.
  16. Well at least you know where you stand with the used car salesman.
  17. Yes I believe they can seize property if it can be proven that it was used to assist in the crime. The van was used to transport the illegal catch so therefore could be seized. If I'm wrong so be it, but I feel that they should lose it all. It's too bad that they didn't take everything from everyone in the vehicle and then fine each and everyone of them at least double the penalty received! If it wasn't the convicted guy's van then oh well to bad, you know the rules too buddy pay up and shut up!
  18. I think Nicholl's Marine in Fort Erie sells Force parts. Check their website out. Nicholls Marine
  19. Admittedly all are true.
  20. Looks like I'm a rude redneck with no manners at all cause I resemble a lot of the above.
  21. Good job I'm at work, otherwise I wouldn't have had enough time to watch the whole thing!
  22. Illegal to kill raccoons??? Are they not vermin? Are they not more or less a rodent? I think I would find a way to rid them from my home if no one else was going to do anything about it. I have no compasion for skunks, coons or possums!
  23. Looks like the ice will be gone for the Perch Festival. Nice pictures Matt.
  24. Those prices do look low. Maybe that is a sight the insurance companies use to judge a boats value when they have to pay off a claim!
