  1. Yep, I can relate, click this and then click the picture for the song. Click here for thevideo
  2. I haven't had one of these yet, but I have had the prostate biopsy done a few different times. Get ready for the pipe! Youch! Snap! Zing!! There goes another chunk out of the prostate! I wonder which test is worse?
  3. Nice Crappie Glen But I didn't recognize you at first with a shirt and jacket on
  4. Some good ideas guys. keram, you can do the same to my boat anytime.
  5. Had a physical 2 weeks ago. The doc asked if I had any blood from "that area" of the body. Told him occasionally when the old hemorrhoids flare up. His response was all that bleeds is not always hemorrhoids. I go to see a specialist in June. Better safe than sorry I guess
  6. Better break out the brushes and tools in a hurry! It will be time to go fishing before you know it. Get it all done now so you will have more time to enjoy the water. Gongratulations on the new abode. Sounds like an ideal location.
  7. Nice pictures! Don't you just hate that last few minutes of the ride home. You know, just as you are ariving around the corner and your heart sinks low in your chest upon the realization that this is really the end. For us it's coming down the 400 and seeing Toronto's buildings down the road. If we are coming back from Owen Sound or Sauble Beach it's when we come down #6 HWY and just come over the crest of the Niagara Escarpment and see Hamilton down below. It's so depressing to see the city ahead.
  8. If she has a cell phone check with the phone service provider to see if they have a plan. I used to have the plan from Bell Mobility for about $4-$5 a month. Used it one time only and the truck was there pronto. The biggest problem with clubs like the CAA/ AAA is that when you need a truck so does every other member in the group! And waiting times can be atrocious! I used to work in the towing business in the early 80's, I also did some CAA towing under contract. Our nickname for the auto club was "The Awful Club" There are many clubs to choose from. Right now I pay about 4 bucks a month to my insurance company, if I need service I pay and then get reimbursed. Funny thing is, I have never used it...knock on wood!
  9. I read a report in a magazine years ago that said they didn't work. The article also said that what good would they be anyway as any noise made by them would be downwind of the vehicle with them. Any noise, whether audible or inaudible to humans created by the whistles would be heard behind you, not in front of you. So then maybe this theory is telling us to drive behind cars that have them to be safe?
  10. I wonder if they have a couple of those on the Apprentice show for the losers camping out in the back yard?
  11. Yep! That's what I thought for years, but I believe it's the ends of their fins that gets ya But I don't care, I stay clear of both the whiskers and the fins! How can such a nasty looking fish taste soooo goooood?
  12. Very sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I'm glad though to learn of your fond memories with him. You will think of him often, and when you are fishing cast a imaginary line in the water for him. I have done this many times for my brother in the past year. It does help.
  13. Yep, a good one!
  14. I still remember my first catfish. I was about 4 or 5 years old and at my grandfathers cottage on Chemung. The adult guys were all off in their boats on the lake somewhere and I was left back at the cottage with my mother. I spent the day fishing off the dock and landed a catfish. Not knowing any better I reached down and grabbed it with my hand! That was the last time I ever did that! My mother came running down to the dock and nursed my stinging injury! That was that. I have had a considerable respect for feline fish ever since. As for eating catfish, I did try it one time. We bought some fillets from a fish shop, rolled them in cornmeal and fried them up. Probably the best tasting fish you could ever imagine! I have caught many huge and table sized cats since my chilhood but have never had the courage to clean one, eat it or even touch it. I do my best to get them unhooked while they are still in the water or in the net! I am a chicken
  15. So then you are probably more concerned with the cars ability to drag the boat up the ramp then it's actual ability to tow distances? You owned a Windstar, right? Was that your tow vehicle before? If so and it could pull the boat up the ramp then why would the Saturn not be able to do it? Both are front wheel drive, and the Windstar is nothing but a front wheel drive station wagon and not a truck anyway. So then if you are only a block from the ramp and you are not going to drag your boat any distance then do it. After the first couple of attempts you will have your question answered.
  16. I also saw that display and did a 90 degree turn away from it! Looked too much like a come on to buy into a time share or something similar. I ran into too much of that type of crap years ago in Florida. You know the type of deal, "Free Disney tickets" or "Cheap Tickets" that sort of thing where they make you sit through a high pressure sales pitch. I can't be bothered wasting my time. But then I could be wrong, but I could be right, so I proceed with caution.
  17. Now you're on the right track! :clapping: Still like the planter idea too
  18. Great news Gerritt! Glad to hear this and best of luck Now that you are back to work...I'm sure your home needs something like windows...doors...siding....something, right? I happen to know just the guy to help you out All joking aside, I hope your hand does well and the job is perfect.
  19. I believe Burlington also has such rules but seldom enforced. I do think though that it only applies if you have a property where the rec. vehicle cannot be stored past the front of the house such as is the case in most every subdivision. If it can go beside your house or to the rear it is OK.
  20. That really is a good place to start. But do not forget to take all passengers, all baggage including gear, all fuel. food, boat motor, trailer, and all passengers into account. Then add it all up and compare it to the recommended max capacity! I said it before as others have. It will add up to a larger sum than you think. Safety, safety, safety!!! It is just not you alone out there on the 400 heading to your favourite fishing hole. I knew a guy back in the 60's that cartopped a 12'er on the roof of a '64 VW beetle. Just because he did it and went to Temagami frequently doesn't mean it was right or it was safe. Your tow vehicle has to be able to accommodate all these factors. If you ignore any of them it will one day bight you right in the ass!
  21. I do agree to believe this is correct. Add it all up and you'll be amazed at how little capacity we really do have with our cars. I was considering a PT Cruiser or the new Dodge Caliber (this would have been the 1st Chrysler product for me since my dreadful 1976 Royal Monaco ). Then I read about the carrying capacities and was disappointed with my finding.
  22. Golden Eagle is no where near the Ottawa River. It is on the Montreal River past Elk Lake. Elk Lake is sort of west of New Liskeard It is fairly remote being above the Indian Chutes Hydro dam on the way to Matachewan. Pike fishing is great, maybe not a lot of monsters, but there are many to be caught. I don't think the walleye fishing is as good as in past years. I have fished this river many times from below Golden Eagle and up Consol Creek beyond the dam. That area is really stumpy so if you go and venture that far be prepared to hit a few tree stumps. However most guests of G.E. don't go this far downstream You can actually find Elk Lake on Google Earth and have a look.
  23. I picked up an old 1993 2 door civic coupe with an automatic in October for my wife to drive to work. I asked my mechanic if he knew of anything reasonable and reliable around. Turned out a guy working for him picked this Civic up and did the usual exhaust, brakes, tune up tires, valve adjustment and so on. He even saftied it and etested it all for $2200. Figured I couldn't go wrong (knock on wood) and if she didn't want it after a few months I could get my money back and more because the young guys love them! Only reason the mechanic had to sell it was his insurance rates were astronomical and after he fixed it up for himself couldn't afford to insure it. Anyway go for the civic, she will be happy with it. Oh yeah I was leary on buying one too. After all I have driven Ford or GM for years. Not only that but this little Civic has 300,000 KMs on it!!! but it ticks over like a clock and has plenty of pep uses no oil and cheap to run, I wouldn't be surprised to hit 400,000 with it. My 16 year old and my wife both love it. Honda engines are said to be great. Now I beleive it and I want a Honda outboard now!!
  24. Thinking the same thing Tinbanger, the Perch Festival. I/we have never been to Orillia for the festival as of up to just a few years ago we never had a boat, then for the past 4 years my son played rep basketball and every weekend was tied up going to tournaments. This year who knows? He has a part time job but at least my weekends will be open ...well except maybe for work
