The console version of the boat was at the Sportsman show today. Perhaps it will be at the show next weekend too. It looked like a well laid out boat. The layout was actually quite similar to my old Alumacraft Lunker 16. The Fury had a nicer finish though.

Interesting day at the Sportsman show

From what I heard somebody stuffed paper towels into a blow dryer in the bathroom at the hockey. I am not sure if that was true or not. -
Shouldn't rubber be what is derived from the sap of a rubber tree? By that definition none of the soft plastics will be banned.

Emerald Ash Borer Beetle control, pictures NF,
John Bacon replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
The US has introduced a species of wasp that preys on them. Hopefully that will restore some balance so we don't lose the whole species. I do have a few ash trees near my property. Luckily I have a good variety of species so I won't lose too many trees. -
Crazy stuff you see on your daily commute NF
John Bacon replied to Cast-Away's topic in General Discussion
Actually it does. As per the link you posted, "The tests, released Wednesday, show how well vehicles stack up against others of similar size and weight." In other words, the favourable ratings that the Smart car received only apply if you have a collision with another Smart car; or perhaps a BRP Spider. They don't apply to Smart car versus F150 crashes. Here is another quote from the link that you , "All things being equal in safety, bigger and heavier is always better." -
That looks similar to my old SeaNymth. It was rated for a 35hp, I used to run a 30hp Suzuki on it. Horse power ratings seem to be more conservative on the new boats though.

NF What to do if your vehicle goes through ice
John Bacon replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
Not so good if the vehicle goes down nose first or end upside down. -
Adding a metal roof over shingles should reduce the weight load, not increase it. Snow doesn't stick to a metal roof; the strapping and metal will be lighter than the snow that sticks to shingles. I was never bothered by the noice on my parent's cottage which had a metal roof over shingles. My brother doesn't seem to have an issue with noice at his cottage which has a metal roof with no decking. My parents went with large metal sheets over strapping on top of the existing shingles. I did notice more bugs in the cottage after that. I would look at metal shingles instead of the large sheets. You should also remove the gutters from your roof if you go with metal; other wise the snow will take them off. I have seen some roofs with metal "brakes" installed to slow the speed that the snow slides off the roof.

The The $3,000 savings was for a 50hp. I do a lot of trolling with with but I still only but about 10-15 liters per outing, max. That will be a lot of days of fishing before I save three grand with a four stroke. The savings on a 150hp would be higher, but I think the price difference would be too. You could probably buy a kicker for less than the price difference. I am not convince that I would get it back in resale value either. As a matter of fact when I had my boat at the marina for a new prop; the person I was dealing with mentioned that people would be willing to pay big bucks for my motor because they don't make them anymore.

x2 I want to get some more ice fishing in

Is the two stroke an Optimax or a traditional two stroke? There is a big difference. I would still take a two stroke if there is a big price difference. I saved ~$3,000 by going with a two stroke when I bought my boat. I don't that that a four stroke would save me $3,000 in gas.

That would be my favourite too.

For anyone interested, there will be a public meeting on the future of the Beare Road land fill. The land fill is located adjacent to the Rouge River. http://www.toronto.ca/parks/pdf/projects/beare_road/public_meeting.pdf

Ice Fishing Jig Setup - Question for the experts!

I would be happy to test them p.s. eyes down with the treble on top -
The Sportsman show supports Ringwood Hatchery. I believe they have donated over $35 million to date. I don't think it is fair to say that Walter that Sportsman show give very little in return.

Hunters typically try for a lung shot. A lunge shot is not immediately fatal. The deer will suffocate as its lungs fill with blood. Hunters are typically taught to wait for the deer to dir after a lunch shot rather than persue the wouldn't animal. Maybe not such a good example.

I can see them fine, perhaps you need a new computer... then you can use the fan from your old one to improve your heater

Advice needed on a hot water tank issue but my son.....
John Bacon replied to mr blizzard's topic in General Discussion
... and after installing the new element make sure the tank is full of water before you turn the power back on. I would look into the warranty before doing anything though. -
I think they design the faucets for us city folks who may not have other sources of water to keep our floor drains primed. It may not make economic sense to design a separate model of laundry tub faucet for those who are on a sump pump version.

I think that anything that includes both a kitchen and sleeping quarters would count as a separate residence. I am not sure what the zoning laws allow; you may have to sever a piece of the property in order to build a separate residence. I think you can have everything except a stove before it legally becomes a separate residence. Zoning laws for farms may be a bit more liberal though.

There have been reports of a turkey in the McCowan and Kingston Rd area of Scarborough. I have one walking down the side walk on Meadowvale Rd just south of Shepard and another on Military Trail just east of Morningside Ave. The most unusual animal on my front lawn would be a blanding's turtle. We see foxes and rabbits quite often. My wife saw a coyote and a neighbor has seen a deer. I am in the Port Union and Lawson area of Toronto.

Not necessarily, some bar or restaurant owners who not currently millionaires may become one if the fans were at their places instead of the Bills games. As already mentioned, the money spend on Bills games would be spent whether the Bill are there or not.

But does that represent addional tax revenue; or just tax revenue from a different person? Their salaries are paid in part by ticket sales. Where would people spend their money if they didn't buy tickets to the game? If they would have other wise spent the money at local busesses, restaurants, bars, etc., then those tax dollars are not really additional taxes. It just means that players are paying income taxes instead of restaurants and their staff. It is not that easy to figure out exactly what the true economic impact of a team had on an economy... it is easy to spin the facts though. p.s. Re: Buffalo is the only team to play home games in NY? What about the Jets and the Giants?
