  1. Yeah, if I was an owner I would want my players wearing masks. In what other occupation is proper safety equipment and option?
  2. Check your zoning laws. You may not be allowed to widen it. I had a driveway paved about 15 years ago. Concreat was way more expensive... about 7:1. If price is a major factor then I think you will need to go with asphalt.
  3. Well if you don't use your card at retailers then you should be safe
  4. Metro East Anglers usually meets at Ringwood Hatchery on Wednesday Evenings and Sunday Mornings. Ringwood is located on Markham Rod in Stouville. We will also be stocking rainbow in the Rouge River soon and also helping to operate the fish way at the Milne Dam. Salmon are pen reared in Whitby and Bluffers Park. These opportunities are all in or around Durham region. Let me know if you want more information about any of these opportunities to volunteer.
  5. I don't think banning roe on the Ganaraska only would have much impact. People would still harvest the roe to use on other rivers. The ban would have to be province wide in order to have any impact. There would be a lot of legitimate resistance to a province wide ban on roe to stop the slaughter of salmon.
  6. Are you saying that the atlantics being stocked are the same size as the chinooks being stocked? That is not true in most cases. All chinook are stocked in the spring from eggs collected in the fall. Atlantics are stocked at various stages in their life cycle. Some yearlings are stocked and those fish are likely similar size to the chinooks being stocked. However, most atlantics are stocked at a much earlier point in their life cycle; some still have their yolk sack when they are stocked. This needs to be taken into consideration when comparing the numbers of atlantics stocked to other fish being stocked in the lake. Chinook are stocked to create a fishery, and stocking larger fish is the best way to do this. Where as atlantics are being stocked to establish a self sustaining population. The findings from the MNR is that stocking younger fish will lead to better imprinting, ensure that fish can winter over in the rivers, and is better for producing a self sustaining population of fish. Since chinook are managed as a put and take fishery, imprinting and the ability to survice the entire life cycle in the wild are less important.
  7. I am a member of Metro East Anglers. We operate Ringwood hatchery and currently stock the Lake Ontario watershed with coho, rainbow, borwns, and atlantics. We also help opertate the fishway at Milne dam.
  8. No, only the federal government can do that.
  9. Isn't illegal to charge someone for signing their passport pictures? I know it used to be. You no longer require a professional designation to be allowed to sign passport photo's. I think anyone who has a passport or has one for a 5 years can sign passport photo's. It should be too difficult to get them signed.
  10. 14 if you count the Toronto Blueshirts
  11. The way I read the post, his friend is sponsored by Humminbird but bought a Lowrance for his personal boat.
  12. I attended a seminar on this topic a while back. They mentioned that Lake Ontario bass spawn in July and that the were not even protected by old seasons. A delay in the opening season for Lake Ontario was under consideration at the time. Perhaps some of the other large water bodies have a similar late season.
  13. I think it is all Sail stores. I picked up some items from the one near Bass Pro today.
  14. Don't forget to take height into consideration too. You will probably be okay with a 17' aluminum; but it is best to be sure.
  15. Thanks, I guess I will have to go another time.
  16. Here are the top two fish from the annual Frenchman's Bay ice fishing tournament. I helped a friend organize it. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152558589545282&set=oa.482571615124358&type=1&relevant_count=2&ref=nf http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152558589180282&set=oa.482571615124358&type=1&relevant_count=1&ref=nf It nice to see kids take three of the top five spots. I recommend crampons if you are heading out this weekend. It was slippery out there. I feel twice my self.
  17. I am a consultant who travels to the U.S. often enough that I need to fill out a U.S. tax return. I was planning to head to the office in Niagara Falls, New York on Monday. I just realized that it is President's Day on Monday. I did a search on Google and found some information that indicating that federal offices are close on Washington's birthday (Feb 22) instead of President's Day. Does anyone know for certain if federal office in New York state will be open on Monday?
  18. I don't usually have a problem.
  19. Vito Cirone at 416-580-9530 I haven't fished with him personally, but he does have a good reputation. I think he was used catch the salmon for tagging back when they had the million dollar salmon.
  20. I think an angled reel hand would make more sense. Then the reel would still be properly setup for a software rod.
  21. And ask to be paid for it too?
  22. It's 50/50 that a card reader can read the chip in my card when I insert it. I find it hard to believe that someone is reading my card when I walk by. The eel skin wallet sounds like an urban myth to me... remember when they were supposed to ruin credit cards? Gas stations and restaurants are usually the culprit with credit card charges. They are much greater concern than internet purchases from a reputable company. The credit card company reversed the charges on my card no problem (no my wife didn't just by $300 worth of gasoline for her Rav4 ). My house insurance policy also covers credit card fraud. So I certainly don't see the need for a $200 year policy to cover identity threft.
  23. I suspect that the 8" from last week is still there; maybe even thicker. I don't think todays warm whether would have had too much impact on the ice... it needs to melt the snow first before the ice underneeth melts. That is not going to happen based on the forecast for the next week.
  24. I think it has been rectified now; but at one point the fine for forgetting to bring your licence was higher than the fine for not having a licence at all. I do recall a story on this board about someone having their equipment confiscated because they had forgot to bring their licence with them. I that is rediculous for such a minor offence; but they can do it.
  25. Convictions are based on proof beyond a reasonable doubt. If you are coming off the lake with fishing equipment, then what are the chances that you had not been fishing? You might have a chance if were driving a sled with a passenger who did have a license; then you could say you only drove out there to pick your friend up. It really comes down to what the CO and the judge believe.
