  1. While a clipped fish is most certainly a hatchery fish; an unclipped fish is not necessarily wild. I am not sure about Lake Huron on Georgian Bay; but very few hatchery fish stocked in the Lake Ontario watershed are clipped. I am with Metro East Anglers and we stock unclipped bows, browns, cohos, and Atlantics. I don't think that Credit River Anglers clips their fish either. There was a period of about five years for which all Chinooks stocked in Lake Ontario were clipped. Prior to this Chinooks stocked at pen sites were clipped. To the best of my knowledge there is currently no clipping of Chinook salmon stocked in Lake Ontario. I am not sure if the MNR is currently doing any clipping on fish stocked in the Lake Ontario watershed. Currently, any mature hatchery Chinooks in Lake Ontario will likely be clipped, so an unclipped mature Chinook from Lake Ontario is most likely wild. However, this was not the case in the past, and will not be the case in the future. Even now there may be some unclipped males, especially jacks, running the rivers. Clipping has never been a reliable way to determine whether a bow, brown, Atlantic, or coho was a wild fish. There have always been unclipped fish being stocked. Many atlantics at too young of age (sometimes with their yolk sacks still attached) for clipping to be practical. So no, you cannot always differentiate between wild and hatchery fish by looking for a fin clip.
  2. Surely that is just a typo. A cup contender like Ottawa couldn't possibly have allowed that many shots in one game... could they?
  3. ... and when was the last time that Ottawa won a Stanley Cup???
  4. That sentence would make more sense without the first four words.
  5. I know of a bigger one... often referred to by the initials B.C.
  6. The flotation foam in my Alumacraft did become water logged. So it definitely can happen. In my case, it did not have anything to do with installing an extra seat. I have also been told that newer boats have better foam (my Alumacraft was a 1993 or 94 model). My boat spent it's summers tied to a dock so it would have been partially filled with rainwater more often than not. And it was 2009 before it sank. On another note, I am sure where your other seat bases are; but if I had a second passenger in a tiller drive boat I would want them on the port side of the boat.
  7. It's a caribou on our quarter.
  8. If that were true you wouldn't all be posting on this one...
  9. They have an internal battery that will power them for a while. However, they are designed for navigating official road ways. I am not sure how you intend to use it; they don't have lake maps nor waypoints that make marine units usefull to fisherman. It may help you find the nearest road if you were lost in the bush.
  10. I have used both Tom Tom and Magellan. They both work but I found the Tom Tom to be a little more user friendly. Or, perhaps that is just what I am used to because I owned the Tom Tom first.
  11. Yeah, lucky that Ottawa didn't play well enough to win the game.
  12. The next twenty or so years will though ... but it will be worth it though. Best of luck.
  13. I found the TomTom to be a little more user friendly than my Magellan. However, the TomTom did stop working a little after one year... that may have been caused by an issue with my trucks electrical system. I found that they are both pretty accurate for North America. I was sent the wrong way on a one way street once. Most seem to have life time updates now.
  14. Wait times for people with lots of money and/or good health care plans would be reduced. Wait times for others may not.
  15. I have never seen a net handle sold on its own. I shouldn't be too hard to add an extension though.
  16. http://s1204.photobucket.com/user/tennis_pwn/media/P1010323.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 It was not my targeted species, but a nice fish all the same. Caught this trolling a yellow and blue Risto Rap. It was quite rough out there; I was just going to head for some more sheltered water and try for some pike when this one hit.
  17. Mike Duffy is not from Ottawa... his principle residence is in Prince Edward Island
  18. Really? Who is going to enforce that? Seems like a silly rule to me.
  19. I am sure a few of you will get a kick out this. http://www.senatorsextra.com/main/hockey-yearbook-picks-ottawa-senators-to-win-stanley-cup
  20. Thanks, which size PVC did you use? I checked the Lee Valley link above and the largest I saw was 1". I am not confident that 1" pipe would be strong enough.
  21. Thanks, I wouldn't spend $500 on either but Costco has it for $289. I am surprised that you could get all of that tubing plus fittings for under $50. Where is the best place to purchase these items?
  22. Does anyone have a any experience with Navigloo systems for outdoor storage? I have generally built my own supports and put a tarp over it. But Costco has a good deal on these so I was considering picking one up. They look like a great system; it would be great to hear from someone with first hand experience. http://www.navigloo.com/product/fishing-boat-shelters.html
  23. Many pros recommend using Krazy Glue to attached plastics to jig heads. This helps the plastic last longer. The scent does not seem to cause an issue; so I don't think it should be a problem for frogs either.
  24. Skunks eat grubs so controlling the grub population in your lawn should help. Most chemicals have been banned in Ontario but you can try nematodes. You probably won't get any benefits until next year. It the short term; you can try commercial coyote urine scent... I would assume that skunks would want to avoid coyotes.
  25. I believe that the pitch of a prop can be modified. I am not sure if doing so in your case is a good idea though.
