Does anyone have a any experience with Navigloo systems for outdoor storage? I have generally built my own supports and put a tarp over it. But Costco has a good deal on these so I was considering picking one up. They look like a great system; it would be great to hear from someone with first hand experience. http://www.navigloo.com/product/fishing-boat-shelters.html

Many pros recommend using Krazy Glue to attached plastics to jig heads. This helps the plastic last longer. The scent does not seem to cause an issue; so I don't think it should be a problem for frogs either.

Skunks eat grubs so controlling the grub population in your lawn should help. Most chemicals have been banned in Ontario but you can try nematodes. You probably won't get any benefits until next year. It the short term; you can try commercial coyote urine scent... I would assume that skunks would want to avoid coyotes.

I believe that the pitch of a prop can be modified. I am not sure if doing so in your case is a good idea though.

But if you have to use more fuel to drive the same distance, is it really reducing emissions? If it does, then is it enough to offset the emissions created by having to grow all that corn just to produce ethanol?

You were probably catching white bass. A wiper is a white bass / striped bass hybrid. There are a lot of white bass in Lake Ontario. I have heard of some wipers caught in Lake Ontario as well; I don't think there is a large population of them though.

Harper is federal; MNR is provincial. If you have issues with MNR then it is the provincial Liberals that you should be complaining too.

Is there any reason why a boat would need to be "professionally wrapped" for outside storage as some have recommended? I have stored mine outdoors under a tarp without any issues. I have a 14' 2x6" board that I use along with some brackets designed to make horses. This makes are very solid 'A' frame for the tarp.

Central Outboard Marine on Woodbine north of #7 carries Mercury. I bought mine there, and others have mentioned that they were happy with the service there. A lot closer than Hamilton.

I normally don't like extended warranties. But I bought an oven from Sears a few months ago. They offered a five year warranty. If we do not use the warranty then we get the value of the warranty as a store credit after the five years is up. I am not sure if that is standard on all Kenmore products; but that is something to consider.

Yes, I think it is the silver and/or big heads that are the jumpers.

Plasma also has the highest refresh rate. That makes it better for sports and action.

If you find the first one still alive in your trap, I understand that deliver a rather painful bit.

UV flashlight for charging glow spoons
John Bacon replied to redpearl99's topic in General Discussion
Does, it stop glowing altogether after 5 minutes? Or does it just lose some of it brightness? I would consider this for MC Rockets but it is not worth it if it only glows for 5 minutes. -
A Chinook on bass or walleye tackle would be fun though.

Lots of people drive with expired stickers. I have never heard of a single person having a claim denied due to an expired sticker. I don't think this will impact insurance.

That is possible, but I would still be reluctant to chance it. I did a quick web search on Fisher boats and they seem to have a bad reputation too. I would stick to riveted hulls.
-
I would avoid Tracker boats. I have heard too many stories about cracked hulls. They are often nicknamed "Cracker" boats. Sylvan was mentioned; I believe that Sylvan, Smokercraft, and Legend hulls are made in the same factory. Legend adds their own trip. I currently own a Princecraft Holiday SC DLX (side console). It is a little short on internal storage, but it does handle the rough water quite well for a 16 footer. The boat is also available in double console and tiller models.

Scugog or other Kawartha lake picnic and boating
John Bacon replied to John Bacon's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the tips. I ended up launching at Port Perry. We did some tubing and some fishing. I will definitely check the other places for our next outing. The fishing wasn't great. I did land a decent large mouth. We also caught rock bass and a blue gill. -
We are planning on a picnic and some boating with a couple of families. Can anyone recommend a place? I plan to bring a boat (16' Aluminum) to take the kids tubing and do some fishing. Not everyone will be in the boat at once so I am looking for a place that has a public park along the shore. Does anyone know of such a park that is close to a boat launch with parking? I was thinking of Scugog because it is close; but I would also go to another nearby lake if there is a good place.

Bolt size for Mercury steering linkage
John Bacon replied to John Bacon's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, but I am not replacing original bolt. I am looking at adding an attachment to steer my 2.5 hp kicker motor. I don't think anyone's life will be on the line if I lose steering while I troll so I am not too concerned about strength. -
I have a 2008 Mercury 50hp 2 stroke motor. Does anyone know the exact bolt and tread size to attach the steering linkage to the motor? I tried measuring it and it appears to have a 10mm outside diameter. I assume that it is metric because the 0.393" outside diameter does not convert to any common fraction. Assuming the it is a 10 mm bolt. Does anyone have any idea what the thread size would be?

Problem with PowerPro Super8Slick
John Bacon replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
I use a slight variation of this. - Rather than flipping the bail manually, I give the handle about a quarter turn to flip the bail. - Then sweep the rod to take the slack out of the line. - Then begin my retrieve. This should produce the same results as the technique described about but is a little quicker and more natural once you are used to it. -
Stocking lake Simcoe with Landlock Salmon ?
John Bacon replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
No, Chinook stocking has remained steady at about ~540,000 fish per year in the Canadian side of Lake Ontario. Georgian bay is stocked as well. Metro East Anglers took over the rearing of Chinook for Lake Ontario for five years; but the MNR is raising them again. The Atlantic (which is what the 'land locked' salmon are) program has not have any effect on the Chinook stocking so far.
